Let's not forget that Amazon is soon to roll out their own delivery service that competes directly with FedEx and UPS, delivering not only their own products, but those of the same shippers currently using FedEx and UPS. The cost of using their own delivery service has to be funded with the funds redirected from the existing delivery services - ie. FedEx and UPS.  Their "free delivery" with Amazon Prime is funded with Prime dollars, regardless of who the actual shipper is.  By increasing the Prime member fees, they will be "over-funding" their own delivery service, effectively "subsidizing" the delivery service and giving them an unfair competitive cost edge over both FedEx and UPS.  It's how you take over a(nother) market.  By their own admission, they have over 100,000,000 Prime subscribers.  At $119 each that is almost $12B dollars a year subsidy.  To put that in some perspective, FedEx's gross annual income in 2017 was $13.77B.

Shame, shame, shame.  The greatest evil of our time has free reign - at least, in the "civilized" world.  You'd be shot for that kind of behavior in the "third world".  There must be a way to express social injustice without fear of reprisal and at the same time not mislead an entire population for political gain.  The press cannot be "controlled" but they have lost their moral compass, in favor of ratings. Now all we are left with is the unaccountable and irresponsible manipulation of populace.

  20. Bloomberg, our grocery retail expert - NOT! on Amazon Robots Poised To Revamp How Whole Foods Runs Warehouses (bloomberg.com) · · Score: 1

Why does Bloomberg think that Whole Foods needs robots to roam the isles taking inventory? The UPC code and other methods are used when anyone checks out at the cashier with their purchases. These purchases are subtracted from store inventory, so we know the instant, literally, when inventory is depleted. The inventory management system can automatically and accurately propose the daily/weekly/monthly reorder list. Inventory systems know the vendors, the lead times to order to compensate for shipping times etc. Even with spoilage etc. there are adjustments for those outliers. One cannot just accept the the word of some big name in one field (banking, finances, whatever) and assume that they know anything at all about every subject. Being a fantastic dentist doesn't automatically make you an expert on textile manufacturing. It's pretty scary when you think that a company like Bloomberg makes all these statements/predictions based on ignorance of the the facts, because people listen to that advice. We've all heard the saying "Empty vessels make the most noise" - and here it is - a perfect illustration of how people ignorant of the facts are so eager to expose that ignorance.
