The reason I'm not shorting SCOX stock at the moment is because I want to remain bankruptcy-free.
When you "short" a stock, i.e. sell shares you don't own you are hoping that the seller, typically a millionaire on Wall Street, will buy them back at a lower price. You earn the difference.
That's good for the average stock short where this actually happens as planned.
A problem exists: They are not obligated to buy the shares back. If the price rises, you can be left SOL.
If anyone here sees a hole in my stock-logic, please correct me.
Bob
Anyone suffering from CTS or wrist problems in general should look into Bikram yoga. Not only will you improve your specific conditions of the wrist but you will improve your overall health as well.

I don't understand why people speak so frequently of Tivo.
That is similar to people speaking of MS Windows -- yes, it may be popular but the product still sucks.
Replay -- Pay once, subscribe forever to the program guide for free.
Tivo -- Pay monthly for the subscription to their program guide.
Yes, Replay may be slightly more expensive but most people plan to keep their Replay box for several years. During those years, think of not having to pay subscription fees. After two years, a Tivo user has paid more than the price difference in subscription charges.
If the superior choice is not obvious to you, you shouldn't be reading Slashdot.
I earned my BS in Mathematics and Computer Science from Bridgewater College in Virginia. It's a small liberal arts college nestled in the Shenandoah Valley near Jamestown, VA in zip code 22812 (for those postal freaks out there).
As their degree combined CS with Math, it took a great amount of work to complete the degree. They also require many credits of non-tech disciplines, such as Philosophy and Religion.
It was the best experience of my life. Such a broad base of education (both book and social) has proven to be very valuable in adult life. Remember geeks, there is life beyond the keyboard. You need to be prepared for it.
Quite bluntly, I have no interest in whether or not those terrorists were from a wealthy, middle-class, or poverty-stricken nation -- there are simply some things that are not done.
We need to be proactive and reach a decision regarding whether we (the world) are going to allow people --who refuse to adopt a peaceful frame of mind -- to continue to exist on this planet.
If it was my decision, I would wipe the entire middle-eastern bloc off the face of the earth -- preferably by carpet-bombing with 100 megaton, very dirty nukes. That way, after the survivors come out (as is inevitable) they would succomb to radiation-poisoning. Then start up a large Chevron station where the oil wells were.

This is God. As an omniscient, omnipotent, and omnibenevolent Creator,
anything possible in your universe can be traced back to me as prior art.
I want my licensing fees!
Until Apple can match such competitive prices they will always be a second niche player.
Failure to respect this request is punishable by a lifetime behind bars as Jocko's prison-bitch.
Tip: Don't drop the soap.
I am sure of not being alone when I say that the Apple II+ helped cement the role of myself and many other kids as future geeks.
Girls could never be as much fun as collecting pirate warez and besting the latest high score on Karateka. Naah.

Where is the pdf file mirrored? The NY Times server seems to be ./ed and won't respond.

With all due respects to those parties that feel the Gates' Foundation embodies the highest qualities of piety and philanthropic principle.
Bollocks.
B. Gates, et. al are merely taking a multi-billion dollar tax write-off. Nothing more, nothing less.
Bill knows that the wolves are howling at the gate (no pun intended) and this is his way of placating the Big Boys.

P2P will live forever as nothing can be done to shut down a network that cannot be circumvented.
Now people will have a chance to more easily about the superiority of Linux.
Oh, first post.
Tivo Sucks!
Imagine the following debate:
Undergrad: MS Ru13z!
Real World: Linux is stable.
None of the above matters!
People are going to use what works, and at the moment
Linux (Debian) works.

As the passing of Lyrics.ch brings a deepening sense of calm to the musical landscape,
a single voice cries "Where're The Fscking Mirrors???"
It activates all modes of your computer, disables all checking and lets you use XP as M$ never intended.

Actually, I believe that is a quote from "Futurama". The brainchild of Matt Groening, I am coming to appreciate that cartoon the more I watch it.

This is a troll and definately flame-bait.
Yes, an aggressive response to the events of yesterday may take a toll on innocent lives.
