You know, that's a comforting thought, but to the Telcos, it's just going to be another batch of obstacle they can whine about to Congress. The conversation might go something like this:
Telcos: "Waahhh, this is turning out to be too expensive! Please make the taxpayers pay for it instead of us!"
Congress: "Sure thing! Don't forget us during election time!"
On a related note, anybody wanna take a crack at defending capitalism anymore?
I still can't decide if this is a good idea or not
It's not. Having to switch from Front Row to iTunes to do any purchasing is going to be a deal breaker for a lot of people IMO. If the whole thing could be done while sitting back and holding a sleek remote, they'd have a winner, but making the user actually have to physically move around and switch back and forth between interfaces, just to perform what could be a seamless process, is stupid.
Unfortunately, you're showing your ignorance. Let me walk you through it:
A Business' sole goal is to maximize profit for its shareholders, and nothing else.
Profit is never comaptible with ethics. (It can be close, but that usually doesn't last too long. Take any old enough business and you'll see what I mean.)
Profit! (sorry couldn't help myself)
I'm real happy for you that you run ethical businesses. My wife and I, newly in business for ourselves, try to be as ethical as possible without putting ourselves in the poorhouse, but a few examples do not an axiom make, particularly when your idea of "Big Business" is Ben and fucking Jerrys.
It's called a Pun. It's not a very clever one (and puns are at the bottom of the food chain when it comes to humour), but damn dude! Hope that humour bypass wasn't too expensive...
Yes, I'm not alone! Man I loved Turok on the N64, hell of a fun game. The sound design was pretty good too; while it was an FPS, it delivered its fair share of scary shocks when some mutant dinosaur got up in your face with a blood-curdling scream.
The sequel had some interesting tweaks to it, but I haven't had the chance to play more than 10 minutes with it. Guess I need to go pick that up...
While I don't think it's going to be a crucial selling point, the differences between Xbox and PS3 online play are going to be important. This is based on anecdotal evidence, but since the pattern has repeated itself ad nauseam, it's worth noting:
Typical conversation I have with Xbox owners: blah blah blah playing online/Xbox live/fucking cool/hooked up with buddies A, B and C, blah blah blah
Typical conversation PS2 owners: blah blah blah latest cool-as-shit game out for PS, blah blah blah. ZERO mention of online play.
Disclaimer: I'm an Xbox owner who doesn't use Live as I'm more of a PC gamer than a console gamer.
Yeah, it's a bit crap, especially to those of us who have a clue how computer systems work, but I also wonder how many people that movie piqued the interest of who might not have entered the IT field.
And while it's certainly dated, I think both the story and the effects have held up remarkably well considering how old it is. There's plenty of movies since that can't say as much.
Exactly. My parents live and work in the south (Cannes/Nice/Monaco), and despite both Cannes and Nice being listed as rioting, they've made precious mention of it. Considering my mother's prone to hyperbole, I can only conclude that almost nothing is happening.
Yeah, visiting the UK las year it seemed like every other ad was Jamster or some other ringtone supplier. I've noticed those ads (the type anyway) start popping up on US tv recently.

Fingers crossed that its' Guillermo Del Toro.
No, for some ungodly reason they review SPybot, although it is mentioned.

Quake 3 is art. Mario Kart is not. with
To me, any work that requires creative thinking and stirrs up emotion, is art.
You, sir, have obviously never played MK. Also, Quake 2 was more 'art' than quake 3.
This got modded insightful? Hey buddy, you want me to go sit in the back of the internet because I haven't been on as long as you have?
Jackass.
To really seal the deal, see if you can VNC in full screen mode to a Mac, then let people come over and play with it!
And to answer the inevitable questions: Yes, uphill both ways, during a snowstorm.
I keed, I keed. (running 1.0 something on win2k athlon xp 1800 w 1 Gig RAM. It never crashes or hangs.)
Well then, it's a good thing FF gives you some granular control over JS, eh? I have it set to allow images to change only, and it works like a charm.

Thanks for the laugh - best post I've read on /. today!
Glad you enjoyed the article.

Sad, sad, sad....
Except that's not where the money is, at least at the moment, so bring on cultural irrelevance.
Yeah, the hotmail contact address is just plain wrong.

1. Google cures cancer 2. ???? 3. Profit!
Can't believe I was the one who had to do that....
