    It's actully a great way of manipulating the public. What Hawking does is formulate a hypothesis, in true homage to the Scientific Method, then he makes a bet AGAINST said hypothesis. This makes him certain to win in either case. If he's wrong, he still wins the bet, and if he's right, then he gets to add another twist into the realm of Physics.

    Odd... I'm pretty sure the UK has the same kind of court system that the US does "Innocent until proven guilty." Remember what happened with those payoffs that DirecTV was getting from people who bought smart card reprogrammers?

    1/3000th of 250,000 is about 84. I don't know about you, but when I have to pay 84 bucks for a movie ticket, I'll move to China and buy the VCD, just to spite the movie companies.

    I was also under the impression that an "Android" was a machine that was capable of free-thought. A robot is simply a kind of machine, like a computer, but instead of manipulation of data it manipulates physical stuff instead, usually to build something.

    That's too good a fate for SCO. I hope during the IBM case the judge finds some way to sentence Darl to federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison, even though it's a civil suit.

    Better yet, just get IBM to use their vast legal money to bankrupt SCO before they get a chance to pick on anybody else.

    Agreed. I "upgraded" from an MX440 to an FX 5200, and it was the worst decision I ever made. It's little wonder that a few months after I bought the 5200 it was cheaper than an MX440. I recently picked up a 9600 XT, for only fifty bucks more than I paid for the 5200, and it was well worth it. I'm no video card fanboy, but I'll stick with ATI until they screw me over like NVidia did.

    I don't think the poles are going to physically rotate around the planet and wipe your media, they're just going to switch polarity. The rules of physics won't break down, and the magnetic north won't become the new complement for the electrical negative charge. It just means that your compass will be 180 degrees off.

    The only harmful beams from the sun would be UV light, which would be best protected by staying inside of a glassed house. But I'm sure X-Rays and Gamma Rays are bombarding us, and without a magnetic field you better get a radiation suit or some Rad-X and Rad-Away

    You don't seriously believe that they only film one episode a day, do you? He's probably gotten that money over the course of at least half the time it's taken to be aired. Sure, he'd still get the money faster on Millionare, but I saw him a few times, and I have to say that I'm glad there's someone to put Trebeck in his place, WITHOUT the cards.

    Valve is really starting to piss me off. Instead of focusing on their next game, Half Life 2, over the past year and a half they've been repackaging the same old crap. They came out with a new version of Counter Strike called Condition Zero, they're spending time porting the original Half Life and Counter Strike to the new engine that Half Life 2 runs on. Why can't they stop making money off of the same material, and start releasing the new stuff already?

    So let me get this straight, they're judging him on the grounds of "guilty until proven innocent"? Arn't businesses supposed to assume the best from their customers? Sure, they might be risking a loss of money, but that's just business, you can't punish the masses for the fuck ups of a few individuals.

    Are you INSANE?! I went into one of those places because I needed a y-splitter for a video card I got on eBay. The person in front of me was picking up his computer, they reformatted the drive, and reinstalled the operating system using HIS restore disc, and they charged him 120 bucks. That's all they did too, because that's what the tech said. "We had to reinstall the operating system for you, and wipe out the primary partition, that'll be one hundred twenty." Using cleverly placed lingo like that they made it seem to be an arduious task to pop in a cd, and hit the any key a few times.

    Money aside, it's already become the highest grossing documentry in the country, not to mention that it's first week it was number one in the box office, with more than 20 million in sales. Not bad at all, considering it couldn't have cost very much money to produce.
