He's a cool guy. Besides the ST:TNG business, he's an insightful poster. I don't really notice a lot of 'worship'.. maybe you're just jealous people reply positively to his posts? *shrug*
Settle down Comicbook Guy. We all know princesses and level 13 dragons with +50 to armor are what we/should/ be reading about..
People drank coffee before Starbucks. They (Starbucks) are just *everywhere* -- I bet you eat two meals a day at 7-11. Why? They're *everywhere* You get your twinkies, we get our coffee. Fair enough? Good.
... because, yeah, running inventory and employee timesheets totally requires 3.2GHz P4s in shiny new boxes... in an isolated, airconditioned, top-of-the-line server room. There was DUST! DUST on the servers! That's such an indicator of how well they're being maintained, yeah!
Wow! You've got bumperstickers that keep away 'thugs'? Cool. I'll trade you this rock that keeps away tigers..
I don't think it's the bumperstickers, man. I think it's the carparts on the lawn and the lack of valuables, besides beer and NASCAR tapes. The fact you're a half-cracked redneck with a safeload of shotties doesn't change much if you've got nothing to take.
It does mean any thirteen year old kid doing a house raid for kicks will become armed.. with your weapons!
Avoid this mod! It's like crack! The community is tiny and competitive. Once you get sucked in, you're stuck. Really nice graphics in 1.0 that put CS:Source to shame. Most of the good gameplay from the older.45 release. It's badass.
Grab Quake3 and install it. Join #tcleague on irc.gamesurge.net Prepare for TC:Elite for Enemy Territories, and hope it keeps that core TC gameplay..
I mean.. no! Go away! Don't play this mod! IT HAS M^3###@@...NO CARRIER
No offense, but that's pretty naive. You can only fit so much data on a CDR, it's way more time/space effective to cut all that lead crap. You won't find ANY rips out there that have those ads attached. Some even skip the opening credits (though often a reason to nuke a release.) It really does have more to do with the MPAA not understanding the download culture and just seeing it as dollar signs down the drain.
"OOooohh, our prooooofits, our precious prrrrooofits." without a second thought (Do downloaders go to the theatre? Yes, they do. Try sitting a first date down infront of even a good telesync and see what happens. Etc. Etc.)
The first full out PC I had used nonstop was a DOS box, then it got win3.1, but my dad was too cheap (or already realized the poor ethic of MS) to upgrade to Win95 when it came out--
I never got hooked.
Games prior to '95 were almost entirely DOS-based, so without Win95 games to get hooked on I had no problem moving to Slackware when my dad picked up a copy. Dosemu, native Doom, and it was *faster* than the same system running 3.x -- no nasty skips in my MP3s when I typed too fast into my word processor (notepad/win, vi/lin.)
So let's list why I started to, and continue to, run Linux..
1) Awesome place to move past QBasic onto more serious business like gcc, perl (!), etc.
2) Did *everything* I wanted it to do (code, BBS (then the 'net), IRC, the games I played, etc.)
3) Did everything faster on the same hardware -- this extended how long hardware would stay useful, important when you're a kid. NO SKIPPING MP3s when I typed too fast (win3.1 w/ *notepad*/would/ skip. wtf?!)
4) More freedom! The more you know about how your OS works, the more you know about the intimate functioning of the system, the more flexible you are.
Sum: I had the choice of stagnating on an old platform (DOS/win3.x), saving my $5/week for a Win95 license and rot my brain playing crappy new games (more $), or move to Slack (free, dad bought book/CD set) and put my head to use building kernels, compiling cool games, coding, and so on and so forth.
Even for a kid of about eleven it wasn't a hard choice to make.. Slack and proud, from the beginning of Middle School right on to college. MS can't compete:)
This is such a "I want to keep my pirated copy of Windows, but I don't know what this port 25 mumbo jumbo is about so it's okay to fuck it up.." post. ewwww.
Ever worked in a movie theatre? Being trapped in boxoffice sucks, but being able to write random messages to people in the lobby who can't otherwise hear you would be amusing when it's slow..
God forbid some device get released that's just... fun. The LEDs are even in an accessory cover, you don't *have* to get them with the phone.:)
Apple is insanely cool about deauthing machines for you. In my case I kept getting hit by the BAD DISPLAY/MAINBOARD PROBLEM, having my iBook 'repaired' (everything inside it replaced) four times in less than a year.
Every time I got my machine back I had to reauthorize it to play my music. I didn't realize they were replacing the motherboard and thought they were just deauthorizing my laptop when they repaired it. So after that magic fourth repair.. *poof*, all my authorizations were used up and my music couldn't be played anymore.
One email to Apple about it, and less than 24 hours later my authorizations were cleared. If only they'd handled their iBook design defect like that instead of blaming me for OPENING THE LID PAST a 90 DEGREE ANGLE, moving it away from a desk once in awhile, etc, I'd be gushing greatness about them right now;) But the fact is, lost auths don't seem to be a big deal in my experience..
It's obvious: Nobody was running Linux. The only team that finished was running *BSD, and they all died shortly there after. DARPA had to accept the other contenders...
...and is available in 49 languages (now including Bengali, Icelandic, Japanese, Lithuanian, Low Saxon, Latin Serbian and Tajik)
But does it have Esperanto? Aspiring Esperantists want to know! But really, KDE is a pretty nice window manager. It's always nice to see open source projects release new versions--they prove software can actually _improve_ instead of just bloating up and slowing down;) Go KDE!
I got it *shrug*

THIS IS A TROLL.
I leave it to you, the reader, to figure out why.
Oh yeah, man! Totally! And I'm completely prepared for a demonic invasion after my years of Doom II training. Rock on!@$
Get real. Damn.

Okay, I'm done ranting now. I feel much better.

Except that they weren't "premium numbers" -- just plain old SMS messages. RTFA.
I'm there..

I can't tell if he is kidding or not... anyone that reads *cough*audiophile*cough* care to translate for those of us that live in the real world?
Wow. Loser.
"But how much porn is that!"
;)
"I can finally download alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.goatse in it's full glory!"
First porn post!
That's worth some karma, isn't it?

Just kidding! Not that my karma can get worse ;)
Hey, if Comicbook Guy says it's true..
... who are we to argue? ;)
