Heh, and wouldn't people have to adopt the use of that before links on their server aren't "broken"? I'm sure not everyone is going to want to do that...
Ask yourself that first. Of course we should try to make the networks secure as possible, but do you honestly think a virus writer knows anything about network security? Possibly a little bit, eh? But like you said, I would much rather hire someone who rooted my computer after the countless number of hours I spent into making it secure.
Who says he's going to cooperate and help the company's security? That may not be why they are hiring him. And as I've said before, his skills seem to be pretty much limited... so the only thing he's going to be able to do is prevent little worms and viruses from penetrating the network. Sure, it's a pretty big thing, but that doesn't stop people from cracking into the network or social engineering attacks from happening. Nothing is invulnerable.
Crackers don't destroy. Crackers crack or break into... not always with malicious intent. I'm sure this thread is going to shoot off a lot of BS for little script kiddies and wannabe hackers... because it really seems to have already.
Yes. I would hire a hacker. What's he going to do? Write a virus to destroy the company network? His skills seem to be pretty much limited and I'm sure that prison time offered at him would really change the guy. Getting paid to do something he wants to do would not be something he is willing to turn down.
Well, since the main reason I'm getting a job is to get paid.. I don't think I'm going to have the cash to bid for a job -- unless it was just some under the table bid with the managers. The way companies look at jobs is getting more ignorant by the day... high grades? Money to spend on the position? What kind of a world is this coming to? Why can't we just hire people based on skill anymore? Now just what we can show off? Blah..
I'm a huge fan of the first movie, so I'll be checking this one out as soon as possible. I work for a movie theater, and it really blows having to drive to another city just because none of the ones around here are playing it. It's a good thing I still won't have to pay though -- we're affiliated with almost every movie theater in this state.
If you're serious, no, not really. John Carmack is the closest thing to a role model that I have -- he's inspired me to do a lot of things and for that, I thank him with my life. My favorite games all consist of something he's contributed to, even if it's just a 3rd party game running the Quake 3 engine. John Carmack transformed the gaming industry and he will never be forgotten. His next game will be nothing less than a total blockbuster. I'm happy for him and proud of all he's done.
Yeah, and you've probably also noticed how Apple's operating system was once the dominant mainstream desktop OS.. and now what is it today? Not taking any sides... I'm just saying that if no one else can put up a fight against Apple, then Microsoft still can. Just a fact of life. Monopolies... sheesh.
Meaning... it's not trying to bash IE or make fun of it, just try to show the world that it's not the only browser around and that others can do a lot of things that it cannot. But even then, despite the obvious facts of moving, some people will still choose what they want to and that choice will be IE.
First off, do you have any idea what the hell you are talking about?
"I hate to say it but the source engine looks like the engine for ET2."
What is that suppose to mean? Sure, the new Return to Castle Wolfenstein game will more than likely use Doom 3's engine, but it was originally designed for Doom -- not Wolfenstein. Just like Wolfenstein using Quake 3's engine today -- it just runs a lot better on the parent game. Doom 3's engine is awesome -- nothing compares.
As far as you directing the crowd to play ET over CS -- that's all one big opinion -- those are two completely different games and to say one is better than the other only makes yourself look more like a fool. Sure, they are both First Person Shooters, but let's just say they both have a lot of different qualities in them.;) So in general, it really applies to the type of person you are and the type of games you enjoy most -- which is why more people play CS. Personally, I enjoy them both games, but I would never recommend something I enjoyed more (Quake 3, Doom 3) over the two, simply because it's just a completely different thing.
And Doom 3 was originally designed for what it has always been -- a single player game. The addition of a small multiplayer support system was awesome and I'm glad it's the way it is. There will be future games to expand the multiplayer limitations of the Doom 3 engine -- Quake IV for instance. We're in for a lot more to come.
And yeah, Wolfenstein won a lot of multiplayer awards... but take in account that Half-Life and Counter-Strike won a lot more. I'm not taking sides here, as idSoftware is my favorite development team, but you just have to know that CS won't be getting that many awards anymore, simply because it's an older game. And also, maybe you've just had a bad experience playing in some CS servers -- go play some bots. People actually do objectives.
I don't think this is going to last very long. I'm sure most other people think that also. The production cost is just too high and the only way they are going to keep this going is to sell a large mass of them... or raise the prices, of course. Hopefully it'll work though, because it is a really good idea. I just know those little LCD screens aren't that cheap...
that SP2 will probably fix every single one of those bugs, but who's to say that it's not going to create a lot more? With every patch comes a consequence, rather that be good or bad... and in Microsoft's case, everytime they try to do something good, they always end up hurting themselves and everyone else in the long run.
I don't see why everyone is making a big deal out of it. Sure, it's embarrishing, but everyone makes mistakes -- especially open source programmers. It's the ones who get right down to it and fix their problems first that really makes a difference in the world. Look at Microsoft and all of the things they have had to fix over... and over... and over... and they still have problems with it today.
If you were smart enough to understand what great things this man has accomplished, then you wouldn't make foolish statements.;) You're right though, but... as I said.. I just don't care. Quit trying to get some mod points.
"It's enough to make me want to go plug the console in right now and spend some time with Sonic&Knuckles + Sonic 1.:-\"
And I'm glad I can still do that. I still own all of my old consoles -- especially all of the Sega ones. I have almost every Sonic game to date that was released in America and a lot of the ones released in Japan. I have about two hundred Sonic comics and no telling how much other merchandise. I grew up with Sonic and I still worship him today. Long live Sega. Long live Sonic.
Wouldn't it piss you off if you spent four long years on a project only to find out that someone has their hands on your work before you actually release it? I sure as hell would be furious. Especially since the little bastards tend to rub it in your face how "bad" the game is.. when they are too fucking stupid to know that what they played was a nonear complete version. It makes me extremely angry when my friends want me to make a copy of Doom 3 for them. Or when I find out that someone has a pirated copy of it. Doom 3 is everything that I thought it was going to be and a lot more. I was very impressed and I'm glad it's finallly out -- it sure as hell was worth the wait! It's worth way more than the $55 price tag.
John Carmack is my role model. I don't own a single pirated copy of a game that was designed by idSoftware... even though I'll admit to having a copy from other developers. I support. I was one of very few people that went up to the mall at 9:00 in the morning to sneak into EB and get my copy of Doom 3.
Not really. You got to see them in Taking Lives though -- which is a really sucked ass movie. It's a really hard decision which movie I thought was the worst.. but I'd say it was a close race between The Village, They, and probably a few others. I really have to be in the movie bashing mood to decide though.

Yeah, in quite honesty, I think it'll sell really good. Most people nowadays want a computer that works and lets them get online. With this having AOL preinstalled and Windows on it, it doesn't get much easier for all of our grandparents.
In my personal opinion, I'd say that whoever would need all of that in a computer would already know that it's cheaper to buy all of the parts and build it manually. Sure, you'll still pay a pretty good bit, but at least you'll shave off a good deal of cash because you won't be paying for the name of the computer. It's not really Dell's fault as they could do that also, but where's the profit for them?
Yeah, and I hope the game doesn't get delayed into the point where we have to wait four years for it to come out... like NWN did. I remember camping outside EB and waiting for it to come out that night... and I've loved it ever since. I think it'll kick some serious ass though. Let's just hope that the graphics don't become outdated before the release though.
Heh, and wouldn't people have to adopt the use of that before links on their server aren't "broken"? I'm sure not everyone is going to want to do that...

Yeah. And their tables and chairs will all be messing one leg -- it'll stand, but somethings just make it harder to use and to work with...
Hire a sniper. My sniper's name is Jojo and he never moves. He's also black, so he blends right in.

But what if your phone provider (Samsung, Motorola, or Nokia) says that you do need it? You'll have to reconsider a lot of things... ;)
Yeah, and you've probably also noticed how Apple's operating system was once the dominant mainstream desktop OS.. and now what is it today? Not taking any sides... "I really like the idea that I can pull my cell phone out of my pocket and catch up with the latest news and sports scores in an instant."
I've been doing that forever. You don't need a television on your phone to be able to do that. T-Zone!
First off, do you have any idea what the hell you are talking about?

Maybe because it's not an LCD screen, it's a projector. ;) Unless, of course, you're replying to something someone else said that was offtopic...
