I agree, but also can suck in younger minds. When i was little i played heaps of Atari. Moctezuma, Bruce Lee and the like, and all we could comment with my friends was, thats a cool game.
I have listened to my younger cousins conversations regarding games and its like a subculture where they describe places they've been, weapons they own and monsters they kill. "How do you get super magic level 3 armor without the money?, you must first talk to the wizard and bla bla bla....". Ive only seen such avid and complex talks between chess and go players, so basically games as we know them have reached their growth curve.
we already have seen millions of dollars invested in videogames, like doom 3 and half life 2,but 5 years ago from now they would be able to relase new versions of games within 6 months of the original relase.
With the level of detail and complexity of new games this will slow down to 3 or 4 games a year per company. Time will tell when small computer game developers will join efforts in order to deliver huge games quick ($$$) ending with like about 4 mayor gaming factories, with fictional characters, some celebrities and some young programmer waiting to get his(her) big break. Is this where games are going?
isnt this more like David and Goliath?. Most of the criticism Linux gets its basically true, usability and compatibility are serious issues that stop my sister or my grandpa to use it on a daily basis.
Usability: of course thats the last thing you worry about, being a OSS developer, because you do it in your free(as in beer) time!.
Compatibility: well, Goliath gets all the hardware specs from all the vendors and everything locked up in patents. OSS developers stuck with reverse engineering is like eating the crums of Goliaths food.
All in all you can reduce it to Davids courage, nailing the giant with brains, not with muscle.
According to the original report in Nature, intelligence experts may consider changing procedures.
Why dont they change their procedures to stop spending billions of dollars from tax payers to play "spy games" that dont have any outcome to any tax payers(yes i am implying that corporate fat cats do evade taxes).
i think is mainly because the running might not be periodic therefore some energy storing device must be needed, ya know, cause the so called "chip" has to be a DSP and those run on DC voltage. then some capacitor or battery is needed anyway.
first you introduce audio delay with buffering technology and then you intruduce user input delay using psychotropic technology.
Seriously, the post makes reference to the use of cheap proccessors hence the video delay. By 2006 the expensive processors of today will be cheaper, and eventually cheap enough.
and normaly laws are a statement that describes the natural behaviour of something, i wander who dubbed Moore's prediction a law. The other quality of laws (as in gravity) is that within the scope of the observer, are applicable anywhere and they dont change.
Is semiconductor industry rushing to cram more and more transistors into a single chip just to prove Moore was right?. Sounds like the "American Pie" oath the characters take, --dude, we have to get laid by prom--, is so much pressure.
yea because the bottom line in the discussion between GNOME desktop fans and KDE desktop fans is not how it looks its the performance. The first time i installed Windows XP i thought "well isnt this nice, finally these guys have made something nice and stable" but somehow, update after update, and a couple of months exposed to spyware and it was ruined just like we know it now. Bottom line for non slashdot readers(i.e. non geek "i know whats under the hood" people) are looks, because to them, computers are some kind of magical device that is supposed to work but it never really does anyway, much like a car, although it contains important data inside u cant vaccum on sunday. Reading the XPde news in slashdot made me realize is not how good it looks or how well it behaves much like how usable it is, and that is where linux developers should work on.
will boost the communications businness heaps on 2004 since with no big investment we get a performance upgrade. Way to go folks. and the rest of our should pay attention to the stock market.
i dont see macs around me since here(Chile) they are very expensive so all of us have to cope with win$ht. But i watch a lot of cable tv(a lot) and many channels are from USA, and all the new movies and all the sitcoms and series you can see people using macs, ibooks, g5's ad infinitum. So i hear ppl a lot saying, if i had the money i would buy a mac. Market shares and businnes have become very sensitive to opinions and speculation, so much that some arab prince sneezing rises the fuel prices in Chile. Could this report be a plot to reduce the value of apples market shares?, how inmune is apple to those speculations after 28 years of failing in predicting its doom?.

In Chile(in developement country) things are picking up as well. in a survey published in Spectrum they rated world internet access and Chile was rated 43(number of computers, broadband acces to the home, education amongst population to acctually use it etc) in the world and the closest i could remember was like 66. We can get very cheap brodaband from cable, adsl and Wireless, from many companies. Sweeden was number 1 in the world and the US was like 11 or 12.
Lex luthor doesnt find out about this, otherwise some people will be doomed to live in Ottisburg.
What are the moral implications of a Nation that invades another because they suspect there are weapons of mass destruction, and they have such a stash in their own garage?, i personally think is so inconsecuent. Plus,if found, the WOMD in Iraq are wrapped in duct tape, that would be all over the news as the worst practice for this kind of equippment and only scumbags like Saddam's thugs are bad enough to do that!.
Cars like this will fork into commercial/environmentally friendly vehicles and on the other side MadMax like racing cars!.
I Still cannot understand why Bush hasnt pushed SUV fuel consumption to better levels, you guys probably have the technology to make cars run on water.
I'm about ready to tell my family "I don't do windows anymore."
I think i'll make myself a t-shirt that says that phrase, kinda like that thinkgeek t-shirt that says "no, i will not fix your computer".
I am in charge of my whole family's IT departament, and is like taking care of children, you do all you have to do, clean the mess, lecture them, make them promise you they wont do it again, then you turn the other way for 1 second and its mayhem again (or the ocassional tap on the shoulder with a "hey what does this message mean?")
And a Beowulf Cluster?not as stupid either, since Spectrum Magazine Had a report also where some guys put 73 PS2's together and using their graphics processor chip achieved supercomputing proccessor power.

for the time being, i would trust more that program to moderate my comments.
c'mon people i was only joking dont mod me down, not noooo!!
Simpsons quote
Homer: "i cant believe Luke is Darth Vader's son!"
coming out of the empire strikes back next to the cue for the next run. hahahaha.
Ps, i saw the dubbed to spanish version so please remeber the scene, not the actual quote.
sure its great for people with disabilities, but obviously there's too much potential on the human mind and it tends to apply on such things.

those desktop graphic card giants should learn something about this little fella.I dont see extra hard drive power plugs or a 480W power source.

thats a great idea, cause always you will have the book you want on your hands, so it'll be perfectly a la carte.
Funny how is italic used to type french

i cant seem to find the story anywhere but im sure there is a guy in Europe that called his son after him.
But included v2.0 in it!!.
