Dude, I know exactly what you mean. I got myself a pentium M laptop last December. I dusted off my old desktop and fired it up recently. I kept think something was wrong with it because it was so noisey, but then I realized that I had dealt with all that noise before my "M" came alone. Totally silent, and I never noticed it until I went back to my old clunker.
Why would they release a scanner? My thinking is that the purpose of this is for parents to be able to scan their hard drive and remove anything that their kids may have downloaded and installed. I can see Joe Average getting paraoid with all the news headlines and running this just to cover his ass. Someone like that would want something that would remove all 'offending' files.
My brother recently quit EA. He's a character animator, and worked on the Harry Potter series. He was recruited directly out of Classical animation at Sheridan college (Canada) and worked for them for 5 years in England. After lots of late nights and weekends he decided he needed a change.
When he left they gave him a 6 month severance package so that he could find a new job. If you know anybody looking for a charactor animator trained in Maya drop him a line. His website (www.ray-guns.com) has some animations he did as well as sketches.
between my HRM, S&D, and bike computer I think I have more computing power than the space shuttle. Finally something to go along with me in the pool. Like I needed another excuse to spend more money on gadgits.
I would select a pilot who has had the most pedal time on that set of pedals and gears.
I agree, however, going back to the FAQ page...
15.) HOW DOES THE PILOT EXERCISE TO KEEP FIT?
At various times over the past few years, the pilot has been a marathon runner, an ironman triathlete and a mountaineer. Recently he has been training for marathon running and has just returned from a mountaineering expedition to Mt. Cerberus. He is also helping a friend do cycle training for Ironman Canada.
There is no mention of him training on that set of pedals and gears. I still go with the pro cyclist.
The pilot is not a professional cyclist. He is a professional engineer
As a fellow engineer I would like to point out this design flaw.
Seriously though, having a professional cyclist would make a world of difference. Even their Ironman triathlete Engineer (who specalizes in endurace, not 1 minute intervals) is no match for the power output of a pro bike rider.
"Instead of being men and telling voters to read the damn ballot and punch the card completely next time, we get all boo-hooey over a few idiots who don't do either, and let ourselves get whipped up into making stupid decisions by political opportunists exploiting said idiots."
That's almost like asking people on Slashdot to read the article first, right?
I agree with you in theory, however in practice insurace companies will skin you the first chance they get.
Example, I worked at summer camp at in northern Ontario, Canada (Camp Temagami), that does remote wilderness canoe trips. After 9/11 our insurance jumped 50%. Why? Because they can. It's not like the terrorists are going to target northern Ontario... it could be weeks before anybody realized that there was a terrorist attack. No CNN coverage up here, but somehow things had changed post 9/11 and we were at a higher risk.
Man, you're living in the past. Ever since I got the whole internet on one CD from AOL I've been in heaven.
Um, I'm no expert on theft trends, but I know at university a pizza box was probably a lot more likely to be stolen if it was left lying around.
no, no, no... there's something wrong... you're missing a step between 3 and 4. I believe it goes something like "???"

Just my $0.02

True dat yo...

Then they'll claim the whole Internet Telescope is a global spoof.
I dunno... sounds a bit fishy to me. I'm still not convinced that this internet thing isn't a global spoof.
There might be some common sense involved in that decision. True, however we are talking about someone who has dog shit on his floor.
I didn't think anyone could hear in space.
oh, you can hear... its just that when you scream it doesn't make a sound.
Speaking of Lite beer...
What do lite beer and having sex in a canoe have in common?
They're fucking close to water.
Note to self... stay away from this guy on slow days
2. The shot of Carrie Fisher and her stunt double? Whoa.
Make that Whoa^2
I nearly fell of my chair...
"I took a terrorism class when I was in college"
ummm, that "college" didn't happen to be in Afghanistan, did it?
Two words... Blame Canada
Take for example "air" and "water". Most people don't capitalize either one of those.
Ummm... what about all that bottled water and those O2 bars? Aren't they capitalizing them?

CD's in the Mail? Man, and all these years I thought they were coasters.

I'd say wait about a half a year and see...
"I will reach into my backpack and take out a 2 oz bottle of methanol that will last me for a week, while you attempt to plug your iPod into a tree."
Well, duh... he should be plugging it into the current bush.
"Perhaps you should read the article."
You're new here... right?
"Does anyone need 2GB of memory for their PDA?"
640K ought to be enough for anybody
