Nevertheless, it raises an interesting question: if intelligence can be increased by something so simple as an increase in the expression of a single NMDA receptor subunit, why hasn't it already happened? Presumably, there is a selective advantage to improved learning and memory. Presumably, there is some kind of downside that balances that selective advantage. Are there other behaviors for which the rat is impaired?

Maybe the smarter rats are more curious and end up as cat food.

64-bit support that doesn't suck, a lot of graphical and stability improvements, improved networking, and improved security (even if you turn off the UAC). I never used Vista so my question would be what improvements does Windows 7 have over Vista? I don't know, but I've been running the Windows 7 RC on a laptop and desktop for a while and I prefer it over XP and plan on upgrading all my Windows machines. Then again, I'm going to be buying my copy through my university for $15 so price isn't really a big concern for me.

However, if you want to purchase/download things from their servers or use their multiplayer network then you have to play by their rules. I'll agree that it is pretty shitty of them if they released the update specifically to target homebrew activity but like I said, they aren't forcing you to download/install the update so I don't see how there is any lock-in. You just have to decide if using Nintendo's other services is worth the price of losing your homebrew channel.

I made sure to ask a few questions during the selection process in order to get myself removed because I honestly couldn't afford to miss a week of work.

My current job is salaried, so if I get a summons now I'd probably like to be selected for a jury. I've always been curious about the whole thing and I'd like to think that I'm fairly intelligent and that I could help out our society a bit by contributing to the judicial process.

Another interesting anecdote, my father was going through the jury duty selection process once and I believe he was actually selected. While sitting around chatting during a break a woman said to him that she hoped the bastard on trial would fry. My father went and told the bailiff and he and the woman ended up being removed.

    2. (Optional) Download and install SharePod to ensure that all the music on your phone is also backed up on your computer

Safest is probably a policy of partial isolation. We should greet others firmly, while revealing little of our own cultures and history. Be respectful, and allow visitors to see a strictly controlled show. Given time, this can be relaxed. If they do seem interested in colonization, prepare for war. Demand commitments to peace and respect for our territory that, if broken deliberately, will give us moral high-ground in counterattacking. But if this should occur, act quickly to establish laws of war--display an aura of civility and discipline. Conversely, if they are interested in an exchange of knowledge, be open and willing--say nothing of atrocities and wars, and let the borders be opened slowly. Control their perception of us, so that we may appear to be a mixture of cultures that they could ally themselves with, rather than merely subjugate.

And if that fails, we can try giving them some blankets.

I have no problem with giving troubled kids a little extra time on something to make sure they understand the material. However, most of the time these are the students who turn in a completely blank test five minutes into class.

These parents who insist that their kids are just as good as everyone else and are being held back and discriminated against because they have sort of disorder are really doing a large disservice to their children. Almost no one in the professional world gives you more time to finish a project or assignment because you have ADD or ADHD. The scariest thing to me though was when a friend of mine in medical school told me about people getting extensions on their exams/boards for similar reasons.
