    Mod parent up. Grandparent is horribly misinformed. The ninja were from a completely different culture than the samurai - more naturalist and clannish. Only later during the Warring States period did they truly intermingle with the mainstream Japanese culture.

    Unfortunately, Silent Hill had neither Angelina Jolie, Milla Jovovich, or a good plot. Penny-Arcade does a fairly good review, though it proves impossible to truly capture the suckiness of the movie, even for that godlike duo.

    That said, do not take it as a rite of passage or somesuch mishap to go see it. You will just end up wanting to reclaim your time and money from the merciless God who inflicted that movie on you.

    Instead of proto-bacteria, it might be more accurate to use "protobiont," because the characteristics that make bacteria bacteria weren't necessarily around at the beginning of life. Also, self-replicating DNA is kind of a big first step - more modern theories point to ribozymes as the original self-replicating molecule, being a ribosome molecule that can act as an enzyme and therefore have information-storing and metabolic functions. The oil droplets, or micelles, that you mention are probably better known as liposomes (that's actually a really good article on selectively permeable membranes and the first cells) and the presence of what are essentially protists (mitochondria and chloroplasts) inside eukaryotic cells is called endosymbiosis, and occurred (at least with mitochondria) by endocytosis.
