  1. Re:The N-Gage: A gaming device loathed by gamers on Nokia Declares N-Gage A Failure · · Score: 1

If anything, the biggest mistake wasn't making it more gamer friendly; rather, they should have sold it as more of a phone. No one wants to pay $300 for a crappy game boy. Yet people pay all sorts of ridiculous amounts for cellphones. If it had been sold as a cellphone that, incidently, also played games and had removal storage, maybe more people would've been interested.

My friends aren't hard core gamers. They don't look up specs or read online chats. They'll probably buy the cheaper xbox only to find out later it's missing functionality (no backwards compatability, as well as other features). This is just a muck on MS's part. And a 2.5" drive? Why the hell would they go and do that? Just to make it more expensive? I'm waiting for the PS3. Hopefully it takes a normal 3.5" IDE drive just like the PS2 does.

  18. Downtown in most US cities... on Orlando Cancels Free WiFi Project · · Score: 2, Insightful

The real problem with this is how cities in the US are laid out. Cities in the northeast may have a lot of residents per square mile, but almost every where else, cities are very spread out. Maybe I'm only speaking for Miami here, but if you put WiFi in downtown no one would use it because nobody lives there. What is the city of Miami only has a population of 400,000. It's Miami-Dade County, where everyone inside considers themselves to live in Miami, which has the large population (2.3 million). Anyway, for this to work it's got to be done in residential areas, which are too spread out in most US cities (including Orlando).

Why don't we just affix small "I'm a terrorist" decals on the existing IDs of terrorists; that way, we'll always know who's who! By now anyone who is a known terrorist will not be using his real ID to go anywhere. Furthermore, no amount of biometric IDing is going to point out a terrorist. This is just something to better catalogue ordinary citizens with the guise of added security.
