You also need to keep in mind that it was only Adam that was forbidden to eat from the tree - Eve hadn't come along yet. It was Eve who ate from the tree first, but she had never been told not to. Yet she was also evicted from the Garden of Eden.

Most people also gloss over the fact that God told Adam if he ate from the tree he would surely die. Adam ate from the tree, and did not die. God LIED, the serpent told the TRUTH.

(This is why I think you shouldn't insist that people swear to tell the truth with one hand on the bible - apparently God is OK with lying.)

so why would the signal be more difficult to parse than human speech?

I don't think it would. Ever look at the waveforms of digitised human speech? Can you read them? Of course not. When you hear the sound though you understand it without analysing every minute component making up the overall sound. I don't think telepathy is about looking at every single piece of information making up the current brain activity, but the overall picture that the activity makes up.

Is the brain capable of detecting the brain waves of others? Yes it is hard to say. Sceptics would say 'no' because there is no proof, and a number of people would say a definite 'yes'. I say 'possibly', because although there is no proof it can, there is also no proof it can't. Some people might have the ability at some level and not even know: they just get a 'feeling' from people, not specific thoughts but just general emotive pictures or impressions.

This is spot on. It reminds me of a quote from Ben Elton in his book 'This Other Eden' where he describes Hollywood as "The place where ideas went to die".

Television is slightly better, but only because some production companies are still willing to gamble the relatively small amounts it takes to make a pilot or even a one-off show.

Sometimes the sequels can be done very well, for example I personally consider Rocky II to be the best of that series, although after that they should have stopped. Others, although not as good as the first, can still be well written and entertaining (Toy Story 2 was pretty good). Others they should have stopped after the first movie instead of turning the story into a joke. (I keep telling myself that "there is no sequel")

But some more originality on the big screen would be nice.

Sure it does - you use one side of the media to 'store' a small quantity of peanut butter.
