In one of the more unusual corners of the annals of copyright law, I seem to remember there being something about the "Teddy Ruxpin" which might well deter you from hacking it.
Except that the person you quoted above got it all wrong. "The Teddy Ruxpin copyright owner then successfully sued other companies who marketed tape cassettes with additional stories in them for Teddy Ruxpin toy bears to read with animation."

In other words: Someone selling or distributing unauthorized recordings designed to be used in the Teddy Ruxpin doll could be (and was) sued for copyright infringement.

Nothing about this lawsuit would "deter me from hacking" a Teddy Ruxpin doll, or anything else for that matter, as I'm not interested in marketing the results.

    AMEN!

My life, self-esteem, and sense of self-worth completely changed for the better when I discovered that there are varying levels (or severity) of autism, including Asperger's Syndrome. Now I understand how I appear to others (aloof, uncaring, tuned out), and how to handle their reactions. I've gotten much better at personal contact now that I understand the other side.

I still have almost no friends, and family relationships carry no weight for me, but I know why now. Knowing why has made my life much more livable.

No, they fed me some absolute BS about a restocking fee or whatever, just so that they didn't have to look like they were giving in to me (i.e., make it look like I'm just an annoying person who changed his mind, not a customer with a legitimate complaint). So they knocked about $80 off the refund.
If you lived in the real world, you'd realize that restocking fees are not BS. It costs money to buy used equipment back (and return it to sellable condition) from people who can't read the specs before they buy the item.
I have since cost Apple several thousand dollars personally by advising technologically non-savvy people who ask my advice against buying Apple products. I know of at least 2 instances where this has been a determining factor in buying decisions. Ah, revenge. It's a shame, I kinda like Apple, too.

When did Leprecon make the switch? I've never found a hint of an MS based OS in any of the boards I've used. I just finished up a show with a LP-1536, and I've got stashed somewhere an older LP-500 and an LP-612 - if any of them are running Win95 internally, they sure don't show it anywhere.
Back when they first introduced the LP3000. That's the only console they have that runs it, thankfully.

Yes, it was just as reliable as you can imagine any device running Win95 can be.

BTW, the LP-500, LP-600, and LP-1500 series are just toys compared to the LP3000.

I can only hope they have a compotent narrator, a good percentage of the jokes in the book/radio show are from the narration of book passages and exposition.
Nothing in the radio show is from the book, as the radio show came first. Obviously this required verbal exposition in the radio show to actually tell the story.

If they want to do this well, they will go back to the original radio and TV scripts for the majority of their inspiration, as the book was actually the third generation of the story. (IMHO)
