  1. Wow.. is than an admision?? on RIAA Claims P2P Has Been Contained · · Score: 1

Holy shit... an electronic download model can work, and worse, this comming from the RIAA!! At least they've pulled their head out of their collective ass and started to try for a better bussiness model. Despite they're war on terrorism.. i mean "piracy".. the RIAA has shut up recently. the MPAA can still suck a fart out of my ass. Take a hint, digital downloads that the consumer will "own" wholy and truly are what people want. Long gone are the days of the fat cat cartels; their bussiness model is failing and they're too scared to jump ship and make cash.

I hope everyone in the world just became a nintendo fanboy, because Sony and M$ are going to get rawked this year.

The sooner the publishers and producers figure this out, the happier we'll all be. Then we'll also have games WORTH spending the money on again.

When i was a kid growing up in Cali. I remember hills and hills full of windmills generating power. I'm sure there weren't that many, but I liked to watch them. The big problem in america today is that everyone is paying attention to one thing: "ME RIGHT NOW". Without the windmill's the scenery looks better... but in 10 years, we'll all be in a major energy crunch and they'll beg for alternative power. Fossil Fuels won't last forever (the oil companies have THAT part right) and sooner or later people will realize alternative power means more power, and more power means less cost. Untill then lets all enjoy the costs of fossil fuels as major oil producers continue to report record profits for the third quarter running.

  13. OMG I'm actually being held responsible... on National Review Defends Gaming · · Score: 2, Insightful

It is indeed truly astounding to see the number of parents that want to blame their shitty parenting on someone else. That is today's fad, Pass the buck. I'm glad a publication of ANY type is saying it too. Parents are the fault in the rating system, not the ratings. Parents are how kids are getting violent games. Here's a hint, if you wnat to avoid ultra violent games... buy a gamecube and shut up. A big "w00t" out to the mag, Let the people know they have to be responsible for thier parenting actions.

  14. Violence..... Riiiiiiiiight on Grand Theft Auto Civil Case Moves Forward · · Score: 1

The thing that gets me the most is that some people just don't seem realise the gap between real and not real. Granted the murderer did know what he was doing. I myself play a lot of violent video games (mostly because that's all that's out there anymore) and i don't go killing people. Violent media and games does not cause violence, and it certainly did not make this guy kill. The style may have been determined by the game, but he had it in his mind to kill before he decided how to do it. I think he was honestly trying to please innocent and blame it on the game. Today's America is all about passing the buck until nobody is clear who has it anymore. People don't do actions because the violence in the games makes them do it. Nightmare on Elm St is still WAY more violent than most games, and kids watch it on TBS or TNT late at night. Violence has become a part of our media cultre and that's just the way it is. This guy deserves the death penalty, because HE pulled the trigger, HE made the shot, HE killed the police officers. The game didn't do it, the game makers didn't do it, HE did. The only one responsible for your actions is YOU.

it really irks me to see that they are willing to spend the money to set something like this up, just to watch it fall. They are just building they're own funeral pyres. someday soon the *AA is going to realize that if "consumers" (I hate the term) don't want your product they're not going to buy it. You can't demand people spend their money on you, but that is precisly what the *AA is doing. They are demanding we spend money on movies and music and "entainment" media that we obviosly don't want.

    *AA:
Clearly customers are wrong, they don't understand. They want theese things it's just that piracy has given them an alternative to paying for it.

That is incorrect, People will only pay for what they feel is a reasonable value on a product. It's not that we're pirating your material, it's that we don't want it in the first place. Make content worth spending money on, and you might actually sell something.

I cannot explain how much much i dislike and hate the content comming out currently. Movies, Mucis, TV, Blah blah blah. It's all crap. I don't spend my money on the latest boy band or some teen whore. I don't spend my money watching crap movies that get fluff reviews just so the reviewers can keep thier job. I spend my money procurring acess to the interent. I spend my money on imported CD's because PEOPLE, not instruments and soundboards, make music. Today's america is full of one problem: Too much. There is simply too much to do, too many bills to pay, too many debts to correct, too many cars in the traffic jam, too many people in your department. People are so sidetracked with their wordly shit that they spend their hard earned money on crap that makes them feel better for 20 minutes. That being said, i'm all for piracy. Not only do i support TFSM (The flying spaggehti monser) i'm all for mass digital content delivery. Since studios and content makers feel it is their right to demand my money for crap i don't even want, I go out of my way to avoid paying for the content I do want. Movies, TV Shows, it's all about what the CONSUMER wants, not what they think we want. Instead of handling this technology like mature people, they have chosen to sit on their Copy Rights like the fat kid hoarding his cake. Instead of being smart and offering their own way of digital converstion and distrobution, they choose to stick to old methods that are simply obsolete in today's world. TPB is not just a piracy site, it's a community. Real people have real opinions and are making it known in real ways. They are executing their powers under their laws, and I think it's fantastic.

  20. Game Quality is the issue on Japan's Top 100 Games · · Score: 1

The Japaneese all have one thing in common: their disdain for all games and consoles not japaneese. The reason Microsoft is suckin a big nut in sales in japan is their loyalty. The reason Square-Enix rules the top 10, is because they are based in and cater to Japan. Their games and future ideas all comes from what sells well in Japan. The gamer market is incredible in Japan, as almost everyone (if not everyone) has a console of one form or another. Quality of games is therefor much better, because they have precident and expectations to overcome. Sadly in america, games are treated as the bastard child of our economy. They are a plague that right wing legislative cigar smoking monkeys want to abolish. They are blamed for corrupting our youth and blah blah blah. What's corrupting our youth is the bullshit content and hours of crap that most of our games consist of, especially so far in the "Next-gen" wars. Games today in america suck, and I for one am tired of the same names spewing forth 17 different versions of the same game, just with a different sub title. Story telling, and game quality have all gone downhill with the increases in the push for graphics.

  21. MMORPGs on Gold Buying - Time Saver or Cheating? · · Score: 0, Troll

There is one simple easy and affordable way to avoid theese problems. Stop wasteing your time on MMORPGs. People are stupid. People cheat, bot, and spend WAY too much time doing things that have no point. WoW, Guild Wars, EQ2, it's all the same. Time passes in real life, you pay for a game that gets boring in 20 minutes, and you have to deal with the "n00b" spamming. MMORPGs are not worth the time and money. Yes multiplayer online D&D games are fun, but theese days it's impossible to have the kind of time they DESIGN theese games to take. They are not interested in your game experience.. They want one thing: your money. If you really just want to spend your time and money send a check to me, and mow my grass. MMORPGs are the ultimate capatalist ideal, Give nothing and make millions.
