I still have the original Syndicate for the PC. I bought Syndicate Wars but it was so damn buggy it was almost unplayable. And I wasn't the only one. My brother tried installing it on his friends PC and it still crashed and had horrible graphics glitches. Another friend of mine bought it and had the same problems. It felt a little more than rushed.
check this link out for 9 track tapes on ebay You can also buy used 9 tracks tapes from an ebay store as well. The guy has about 120 of them. As for 7 track drives I don't know. I found this on wikipedia. And what is really interesting if you click on the picture you can see the picture was taken from an old NASA video! Here is another picture I found of 2 different IBM 7 track drives here from this article.
What ever happend to Oshkosh Truck and there MTVR? I liked the idea of making an autonomous 6x6 heavy truck. It would prove an extream help in a combat zone as supply convoys can be robotic removing drivers from harms way. Cargo handling can be done once the convoy reaches it destination by humans. Imagine for a minute that you are a solder driving a wheeled tanker hauling 5000 gallons of diesel when an RPG strikes the tank. You're either dead or badly burned. If it were autonomous well uncle sam lost money and fuel but no one was hurt. Same for a truck loaded with ammo or explosives or just about anything else.
You can barely hear grandma except for the occasional curse she yells out. And you cant tell if she is even playing. If the dude had a little more hardware like a cheap video capture card and a better mic he would have something. Have a shot of grandma playing while cursing up a storm and a box with a feed of the video game she is playing. Then we can see what she is bitching about.
Yea but cable vision in brooklyn always sucked. One kid I used to know lived on the Brooklyn Queens border in cityline (not more then 10 blocks from me) always had complaints. Out on LI I have a few friends and they dont have any complaints.
I live in south queens and we have Time Warner cable at one home and Verizon 3.0/768 DSL at another. No complaints with either service (except the RR cable is much faster and more responsive then the DSL). I know a few people with RR cable from TW and they also never have a complaints.
Verizon is deploying FIOS in the metro area too but they left out NYC. It always appears that NYC and other major cities are left for last with Broadband. Its probably too costly to beploy fibre in densely populated areas. I personally would like to get Fios since Verizon is also gearing up to deploy Digital TV services over Fios. Hopefully it will be as good or better then Time warner cable (it simply rocks).
I you really read the whole damn post, you would have noticed that he says he has no physical access to the network itself. He says it here: "I also don't have any control over the network infrastructure itself, just over our DHCP server. " That means he can't sprinkle routers and firewalls around. It's more a social problem for him since he can only try to get the users to shape up. He can probably block there MAC address from the DHCP server but then you just get pissed off users.
It's a tough call for him because he can't unplug them and he can't make them all magically listen and cooperate with him. If he can't control the actual network and he can't control the end users then what is his job? He sounds more like a free security preacher then an IT tech. If I were him I would just say fuck it and quit. Is it really worth his time and effort to constantly fight a loosing battle? I mean think about it he can't do anything then what is the point?
And if the poster of the story reads this: What are you doing needlessly stressing yourself out and wasting your free time playing security man for the school/dorm? Fuck them. Tell them that they either pay you or give you more power over the network. Don't waste you time doing something for free when you could be off doing other things like making money at a real IT job.

Do you have the name of the company? And if 15 single sided pages can store 1 megabyte then how do 66 hold one gigabyte? I did the math and 12 pages of 8.5x11 could hold 1MB if you went from edge to edge. you would need 12000 sheets to hold 1 gigabyte. One ream of 500 pages printed on both sides could hold about 84.5MB one case of paper which is 10 reams I think, holds a little more then a CD could.
"But uhh" nothing. What the fuck were you expecting anyway? 300GB is huge in terms of removable storage. What do we have today a 35 GB Iomega REV? 19GB using double sided double layer DVD isn't so hot either when you stack it up to 300GB. Plus its PROTOTYPE technology; so initial capacity is going to be low then work its way up to match the estimates.
I must admit I was a little excited watching the 2 videos on the main page. They give you a better look inside the thing. The prototype drive is huge and might be some time till we see a 5.25" half height form to stick in our cases though(although I would settle for full height.) But hell I WANT ONE!
Violent video games, do not teach kids how to kill, only to be more used to violents.
I completely disagree. There is a huge difference between viewing simulated violence and real life violence. I have been playing so called violent video games for a long time now. Yet a while back I witnessed the direct aftermath of a horrible accident on an expressway that turned my stomach. A guy on a motorcycle wiped out after a car had side swiped him. The sight was one that I cannot forget. The blood pouring out of him like the Nile River only made the hunk of ground meat that used to be his head stand out from his white undershirt now half soaked with blood. And I can tell you there is a big difference between virtual bloodshed and the real thing. If I was desensitized to violence and bloodshed don't you think I would have just shrugged it off? And have you ever been in a bar and a fight breaks out? Witnessing someone getting cracked in the face and smash there head on a tile floor and convulse from the concussion is very unsettling. Think about it, how real are GTA/Quake/Doom/Half-life etc.? Even with the half-life 2 physics engine a shotgun blast to the head doesn't shred it to bits splattering brains, skull fragments and blood all over with real life detail. Go to rotten.com and look at what real life violence looks like. No matter how much counterstrike I play those pictures still disturb me.
And my good friend just returned from Iraq just a few days ago says he doesn't even think that all those hours spent playing quake 2 online help one single bit. The shit he saw there doesn't compare to what we see in movies or games. One thing that disturbed me was his recollection of an incident when a rebel popped out from behind a building holding an RPG. He was on the gunner's position of a hummer with the m240 bravo 7.62MM machine gun. He says it was slow motion as he paused and squeezed the trigger of the gun and lit the guy up. The blood spray and spatter from the bullets punching holes through the unarmored rebel was less disturbing then the guys' actual body motions as he danced around with about a dozen holes in him then doing a 180 and dropping like a sac of potatoes to the ground. That guy was his first kill.
Violence in movies can almost compare to real life but still its fake and you know it. Seeing the real thing is a whole different experience. And there is no other like it, you can't simulate it.
This happened to me with my HP Business Inkjet 2200. The cartridge was reported as half full before suddenly it began to say "Cartridge Expired" and refused to print until I replaced the cartridge. Now a cartridge costs over 30 bucks each and supposedly last for about a year before it "expires" (and if they all expire at once you're looking at over 120 bucks to replace a plastic box full of ink). Well If I had known they were this grimy I would have avoided them like the plague.
I would feel better if instead of them fucking my wallet up the ass they would sell REPLACEMENT INK! Why replace the whole cartridge when all you need is liquid? Oh now I get it would be too easy for someone else to come around and give them a little competition. I liked the idea that the print heads are separate from the ink reservoir because it would make sense to fill the reservoir with ink. But no; money over common sense.
Also if you think about it is very wasteful to throw out plastic boxes just because they have no more ink in them. I know your supposed to recycle them but who really does? Sounds like they also don't give two shits about the environment either but what else is new.
Warez has changed allot in the past years. Gone are the days where you had to know someone with an ftp site (similar to the old BBS days). Back then you had to know what you were doing and how to talk your way in. Enter edonky/kazaa and bittorrent where any joe can download anything they want. I know my brothers friends download using emule and they certainly dont know any more then your average joe.
You use select if you want 2 players otherwise its just start after A.

Caramel, more like dog shit. At least caramel is edible.
Yanni and Michael Bolton.
I guess your back to sqare one then. Girls and /. don't mix. Stop trying to be cool because we all know your faking.

For a second there I thought they were talking about oxycontin. High on that you might trust anyone.
Kinda rymes with diarrhea.
Yea, a while back we had a werewolf problem in our neighborhood and couldn't find any silver bullets on the market. Made our own.

Well it could definatly cause a problem with warez. Most warez is usually packed using RAR.
I totally Fucking agree with you. We the consumer as a whole have to watch what we buy into as it could turn around and fuck us in the ass.
Then they should change the name to FreeBDSM instead.
I wonder what kind of entertainment would be useful to watch while lying down in bed?
Or even microsoft if they still existed.
