Harvey Birdman - Blackwatch Plaid
This came out around the time that they had the color coded system.
Great series, ended because Steven Colbert got his own show (he's Ken Seben - Harvey's boss)

Camel in the tentSLS is the camel in the tent here. I think there is a subtle, partial neutering of this program and its competitors going on here. For example,
U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf, the Virginia Republican who heads the House appropriation subcommittee with NASA oversight, said today that the program would fully fund two companies â" and could partially fund a third.
Thatâ(TM)s down from as many as four companies, according to Wolf.
âoeThis downselect will reduce taxpayer exposure by concentrating funds on those participants who are most likely to be chosen to eventually provide service to ISS,â he said in a statement.IMHO, that's doublespeak for "I was able to take out two of four potential competitors to my favorite space pork, the Space Launch System."
The deal also would lay the groundwork for NASA to impose stiffer regulations on the companies competing to develop the rockets and capsules â" a priority for Wolf â" while giving NASA more leeway to nix contracts if it thinks aspiring companies are overselling their capability and financial health.
In other words, a series of irrelevant obstacles can be thrown in the way to hinder these companies even more. The "stiffer regulations" simply isn't needed. NASA already is almost pathologically paranoid about what gets near the ISS. But it's a great tool for adding cost to these activities. We'll see how that gets abused in the future.
Similarly, more leeway to nix contracts means greater uncertainty (and resulting weaker financial health) for the contractors. NASA already is a problem child for bad contracts due to its considerable ability to renegotiate contracts, Darth Vader style. Being allowed even more excuses to renege on contracts will cause even more problems for these contractors.
This isn't going to kill the COTS program, but we should remember that some people are trying to. I think in part this is to remove competition for the SLS and in part just a ploy to eventually suborn COTS funding for the SLS. -
Re:Baloney
If we can't trust our sensory input, then we can't attribute any of the phenomena thereby experienced to magic, either.
Hence, when discussing whether or not a given phenomena is magical, "THE BUN IS IN YOUR MIND!" is not a germane contribution. In fact, you will find that "reality can't be proven to exist" is seldom relevant to any conversation.
P.S. There are four lights.

Re:New NES games
More often, they use languages which are not merely slow but outright retarded, though. Yesterday, I played a fun retro game stylized on NES-era stuff. It worked well on my desktop, but on the phone, even after overclocking to 900Mhz, it is unplayably slow. That's Adobe Flash for you.
A waste factor of an order of magnitude could be blamed on preferring ease of development, but being 5-6 freaking orders of magnitude less efficient than the platform it tries to fake is kind of ridiculous.

verbal contract anyone? Or just for fun, let's consider implied-in-fact contracts... "I promise to pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today".

Re:Animated Death Metal fans
And if somehow Death Metal fans managed to take over the world suddenly cartoon network would be under the gun. Where does it end? With the Oblongs of course.
I dunno... I enjoy lots of different music, Metal & Death Metal being among the styles I like, and I love Metalocalypse.
I think its high time we all grow up and start taking ourselves less seriously... Among those things that shouldn't be taken seriously: Humorous Cartoons.
IMHO, political correctness == censorship. I don't know about anyone else, but I've been through some very rough times in the past...
I don't get bent out of shape when people make comedies involving homeless people, orphans, car accidents, police brutality, bigotry & racial violence. I've lost loved ones to terribly unfortunate circumstances, but I didn't decide to censor the world's media -- I just changed the damn channel (viewer discretion, always advised).
I don't take it personally when I see a TV show that reminds me of a life tragedy. It's up to me to deal with my own issues, not anyone else. Perhaps burying your head in the sand and stuffing away dark feelings deep inside instead of dealing with real life is a good idea -- In my experience, it's not.
Excuse me if I fail to see why YOU should be censored for crap that happened to ME; OTOH, I also fail to see why I should be censored when tragedy befalls you.
TL;DR: Real Life Happens: Deal with it like everyone else, you're not special.

Re:!ultra
The Geminoid family, a series of ultra-realistic androids, each a copy of a real person, has a new member
A bit realistic perhaps, but definitely not ultra.
I agree, since this is a Japanese company, I'd say they've achieved S Class animatronics...( not Ultra, and certainly not over 9000! )
The jerky movements aside (it's a rough mechanical test), once its software is fine tuned I could see something like this hooked up to something like IBM's Watson (but with opinions & emotions instead of just answers in the form of questions).
Personally, I'm looking at the cyborg implications -- Take today's synthetic lungs, heart pumps, dialysis, and IV nutrient delivery and combine it with a thought control input device to control the robotic shell, and I'm one step closer to putting my brain in a robot body.

Or, for people under 30, there's Two Kirks, a Khan, and a Pizza Place.
(Note: being way, WAY over 30 myself - my first thought was "KHAAAAAAANNNNNNN!!!!" as well.)
(Note 2: No, actually I'm lying. My first thought was of Ghengis Khan, since he was my contemporary)
(Note 3: Sorry, that wasn't quite true. I hung out with his kids, though. They got me in a lot of trouble! Ah, the memories....)

Re:How does this happen?
The term "space opera" is already around for that purpose.
I've always thought that Star Wars would make an excellent on-stage opera. Imagine everyone singing their parts--the droids already do--and the orchestra making all of the laser, starship, and lightsaber noises as part of the score.
Hmm, maybe it's time to launch a Kickstarter project....
I believe it would look something like THIS.
