Re: Why Record Videos of illegal activity?
Of course that would be unreasonable, but that's how the attorney general gets to prescribe your actual sentence through a plea deal. We'll drop the crazy charges and you'll serve one year or we go to court and try to nail you for ten, what'll it be? It's a huge risk to fight the charges even if you're innocent, if you're objectively guilty and take it to court for a lesser sentence your legal team had better be miracle workers. In most cases a jury will end up much closer to the legal maximum than the plea deal because they feel like slam dunking criminals. Remember this case?

I'm not sure how I feel about your post
if I decide I see you as the opposite gender you identify on can I call you that?
Also gender is more fluid than folks realize, see here. Basically, Gender seems more binary than it is because doctors have been identifying intersex babies and using drugs and surgery to "fix" them.
As for higher incidences of self harm, well, I know some trans people. They've been shit on their hole lives and transitioning didn't make that better, it just made them feel more comfortable in their own skin. Imagine being a guy and everyone looks at you funny because you show up to work wearing pants. That's what their lives are like. That doesn't go away when they transition. If anything it gets worse ("Back! Back! Dude looks like a lady!"). So yeah, they're gonna have issues.... -
Ha! all packages in Dallas are about to be stolen
The Dallas county DA, being a good liberal, plans to no longer prosecute property crimes of less than $750, and he very stupidly has announced this. Who's gonna be stupid enough to spend piles of money on equipment and salaries to catch package thieves when those thieves are not going to be prosecuted?
Once this fully kicks-in, there's simply going to be no reason why anybody, upon seeing a package lying on somebody's front porch, should leave it lying there for the benefit of the idiot purchaser. Wealth re-distribution, minus the middleman of big government! Socialism 2.0!
Of course, we could rely on the basic morals of the generally self-regulating God-fearing populace --- oh, nope, liberals have been quite successful in converting a country that was originally over 90% Christian into a nation with a growing portion of the public that believes in no higher authority and thus no objective morality. Interesting times lay ahead - probably an eventual era of vigilanteism and gunfire.

Re:Unionizing isn't socialism
Secondly - coward - there's a difference between a rant and a prediction.
There's also a difference between "rat race", and systematic exploitation of workers. Fewer and fewer of your precious "Z Gen" are making it to middle class
The reason - all the profits are going to the oligarchy. And it's a global phenomena.

Re:Katie Bouman BullshitAwwww. Would you like a new set of diapers to go with your tantrum?
That you have to put down a woman who was instrumental in this magnificent feat of scientific endeavor says volumes about your insignificance on this planet. As Chael himself said:"I did not write "850,000 lines of code" -- many of those "lines" tracked by github are in model files," Chael clarified. "There are about 68,000 lines in the current software, and I don't care how many of those I personally authored."
... "While I appreciate the congratulations on a result that I worked hard on for years, if you are congratulating me because you have a sexist vendetta against Katie, please go away and reconsider your priorities in life," Chael wrote. Also, Chael is gay so I'm sure he appreciates your support, no matter how ill-founded.
-
Re:I wonder how much Bouman actually contributed.
Following up whit this information from To undermine Katherine Bouman's role in the Black Hole photo, trolls held up a white man as the real hero -- until he fought back
The misleading posts said Chael alone had authored "850,000 of the 900,000 lines of code that were written in the historic black-hole image algorithm!"
... However, the effort quickly backfired.Though it may have been nice to receive more recognition, Chael immediately took to Twitter to explain that the online trolls had exaggerated his contributions, and he defended Bouman's work. In addition, Chael said that as an openly gay man, he is also an underrepresented demographic in STEM.
Chael disputed the incorrect posts
I did not write "850,000 lines of code" -- many of those "lines" tracked by github are in model files. There are about 68,000 lines in the current software, and I don't care how many of those I personally authored.
[... several tweets referenced
...]While I appreciate the congratulations on a result that I worked hard on for years, if you are congratulating me because you have a sexist vendetta against Katie, please go away and reconsider your priorities in life.
Chael wrote the code for one of three scripted code pipelines that scientists used to transform telescope data into a coherent image.
Bouman has emphasized collaboration
Though Bouman has received a lot of attention, she has maintained that the black hole image was the product of teamwork.
"No one of us could've done it alone," Bouman told CNN. "It came together because of lots of different people from many backgrounds." The Event Horizon Telescope project was composed of an international team of more than 200 researchers.
-
Re:I wonder how much Bouman actually contributed.Another scared white guy who can't handle the truth. Chael's own words:
"I did not write "850,000 lines of code" -- many of those "lines" tracked by github are in model files," Chael clarified. "There are about 68,000 lines in the current software, and I don't care how many of those I personally authored."
Also:
(3/7) the work of many others who wrote code, debugged, and figured out how to use the code on challenging EHT data. With a few others, Katie also developed the imaging framework that rigorously tested all three codes and shaped the entire paper (https://t.co/hgJrv3gOE5);
But congratulations on supporting a gay guy in his efforts. I'm sure he's very pleased with your support. Now go scurry back to your white supremacist site with your tail between your legs because you played yourself.
-
Re:Katie Bouman did jack shitand most of the code that produced the image was Chael's and he is the guy who created the Git Hub project
Completely false. From Chael's own words:"I did not write "850,000 lines of code" -- many of those "lines" tracked by github are in model files," Chael clarified. "There are about 68,000 lines in the current software, and I don't care how many of those I personally authored." . . . "While I appreciate the congratulations on a result that I worked hard on for years, if you are congratulating me because you have a sexist vendetta against Katie, please go away and reconsider your priorities in life," Chael wrote.
BTW, Chael is gay. So congratulations on supporting him.
As to Bouman herself, she isn't the one taking credit. She has said repeatedly it was a collaborative effort:"No one of us could've done it alone," Bouman told CNN. "It came together because of lots of different people from many backgrounds."
So yeah it seems a lot of political science was involved here.
Sure was, it came from only one group who was so incensed a woman could do anything remarkable it had to jump up and down, wave its hands, and put out fake information to make itself feel better. -

Re:Wow. So Hillary is the entire DoD???who was pardoned by a Democrat president
False, comrade. Manning's sentence was commuted which means the length of prison time was reduced. The conviction itself still stands untouched. From the article:A presidential commutation reduces the sentence being served but it does not change the fact of conviction, whereas a pardon forgives a certain criminal offense.

Already losing orders...
First major sales loss due to the 737-Max fiasco. $5B loss to Boeing from that order alone, and several other airlines are now said to be going down the same path.
The kind of blatant disregard for safety is not something that comes without a steep price, once your customers understand what you did and how you fooled them by failing to mention the kind of hackery that was done to this plane. By all rights it should have been a new model redesigned for bigger engines like Airbus did, but Boeing did not want to wait and lose even more market share to Airbus while they did that. Well, it looks like are going to lose that market share now whether they want to or not.
Hold onto your hat Rufus, we've seen nothing yet.

Re:Yes, at extra slow speed.
delusions of genocide
Did you maybe mean grandeur? I am not aware of any genocidal ambition on the part of Putin. Its not hard to believe he might hold some idea of racial superiority but I don't see him engaging in ethnic cleansing etc.
Let me introduce you to the Georgia-Russia War. A quick and nasty little bit of Russian military intervention. They are currently preparing the war crimes trials from this very short 5-day war. That's a bit quick for war crimes unless you really wanted to get rid of parts of the civilian population as a general principle. Then there is Russian takeover of Crimea and their intervention in Ukraine. I'm not sure many of the citizens of those places would agree with you. Ethnic tensions and playing on them is a major part of politics in that area of the world and Russia is no different.

Re:enhanced training
Because under the simulations, Boeing themselves found pilots might have under 40 seconds to override the software or the plane might go into a unrecoverable dive. And that’s in a simulator where the pilots were expecting it.

We all know who the liar is...
Yet more false accusations from one of WindBourne's lackeys.
It's funny when WindBourne is so clueless he doesn't even understand he is comparing 2 completely different things (voters and the general population). Then comes to an illogical conclusion.
But when it's already spelled out, and you still don't understand...that's just sad...WindBourne really needs to get some better lackeys.
Unless it really is your job here to make him look smart in comparison, by looking even stupider than him?Anyway lets check WindBoune's quote
Nearly, 45% of the population checked off Trump, yet, right after the election, his popularity was already lower than what he won with. IOW, a number of ppl that voted for him, really did not like him.
Only 45% of voters picked Trump, but only 56% of eligible voters bothered to vote. So only about 26% or so of the people approved of him enough to vote for him . (So his number is wrong)
Trump's lowest ever approval rating was 35%So no,in fact WindBournes entire premise is incorrect. In fact many more people approved of him than voted for him.
Educating WindBourne's lackeys, one at a time...

Re:Science has enabled
Agree on polluting the ecosystem. But nearly all of the world's population growth is happening in developing countries. Some developed nations like Japan are even experiencing a population decrease (which can have interesting effects on things like the housing market). Even in the U.S. with its minuscule 0.6% population growth last year (among the highest in developed countries), roughly half of that is due to immigration, only half due to natural population growth.
Economic development and progress in science and technology are the solution to overpopulation - it makes people stop having as many kids. -

Re:ATTENTION RETARDED REPUBLICAN FAGCHILD
1) We could possibly, in time, figure out how to do it cheaper, but this would be a start.
Blowing money on "a start" that can never produce the necessary results isn't exactly the best way to spend money.
2) Is it more or less expensive than wack-job politician's "Green New Deal" that is currently tagged at somewhere around $90T and will NOT actually be capable of solving the problem? ("Solving the problem" means doing so without killing millions of people, which the raising of the price of energy would do by casting more and more people into poverty. Poverty kills. Smoking may take 7 years off your life, but living in poverty is good for a 10 year reduction.)
One key element of the Green New Deal that you are unwilling to understand is the efforts within the program create jobs. Somebody has to actually refit old houses to be better insulated, and so on.
Those jobs reduce poverty, ameliorating the problem you cite here.
3) Has it escaped everyone that we are currently adding about $1T to the National Debt every year and NOBODY has a clue what to do about it
We know exactly what to do about it because that deficit was created by a massive tax cut on the wealthy.
Fixing it is also trivially easy. Reverse those tax cuts. It would require you to give up your tax cut fetish though.
Clue: The last year that the National Debt didn't go up was 1957. We've raised and lowered the income taxes numerous times since without achieving that desired result.
1998-2001 called, and would like to remind you they existed. Though acknowledging that evil liberal tax hikes reduce the deficit and thus debt would require abandoning your tax cut fetish.
It's blinding obvious to me that income taxes are absolutely incapable of funding the gov't, and should be abolished. The Founders set up the nation to run on consumption taxes such as excise taxes and tariffs
The founders also set up the nation to not have a standing military and pressed for limited-to-no foreign entanglements. So, unless you also want massive defense cuts resulting in the US dropping out of being a superpower, you don't actually want to go back to what the founders set up.
Also, between your rant about how terrible poverty is and your tax proposals, you forgot that consumption taxes take a far larger percentage of poor people's income.

No
We are not
This wasn't a minimum wage increase. Amazon increased their wages. If we'd done a federal increase then the workers could leave or go get second jobs and do just fine. If we did Medicare for All they wouldn't have to fear losing health benefits (and the employers wouldn't have to worry about paying for them).
Progressive policy works when it's not being actively sabotaged by bad actors. -
Well if you actually read studies
