Re:Boycott, Divest, Sanction the criminal Israeli
Israel's government is actually factually guilty of crimes against humanity. There's no debate, it's a fact. To say and know that has nothing to do with "the jews" though. Sorry, goosestepping GOP nazi faggots. You lose.
Americans and Europeans know Israel's government is not our ally, whatever we collectively think about the civilians there - on both sides - who are made to suffer for that lawless cabal. Two wrongs don't make a right.
Divesting and Boycotting in protest IS A RIGHT, and to use those to pressure Israel's LIKUD/IRGUN terrorist right-wing government to improve IS A DUTY.
Damn, you're a brain-dead fool.
When will the entire Arab world start printing maps with Israel on them?
You don't even want to understand why they don't do that, do you?
Learn something: dar al-Harb: "non-Islamic lands whose rulers are called upon to accept Islam".
The goal is to wipe Israel off the map. Literally.
That goes by another name: genocide.
Poke around memri.org and see the actual TV shows Palestinians are subjected to. See the cuddly little bee teaching Palestinian children to kill Jews.
Got the BALLS to actually watch that murderous Palestinian propaganda?
And can you find any equivalent mass-market Israeli shows teaching Israeli children to murder Arabs?
Crawl outside your little echo chamber and learn the actual facts of what's going on in the Middle East.

Didn't take long for anti-Semitic idiots to show
Nothing like an anti-Semite implicitly supporting genocide.
Or do you really think the logical result of the "Israel has no right to exist" assertion these twits support is anything other than genocide?
Let's go right to the Palestinians themselves:
Mother Of Palestinian Knife Attacker In Praise Of Son: He Was A Butcher, Knew How To Slaughter
That's an actual Palestinian TV interview from Hamas with the mother of what civilized people call a terrorist.
Yep, that's what you brain-dead fools support.

You know how I know you don't know any Iranians?
Know how I know that you cannot respond with facts but instead respond with angry little hysteria?
This is how... and then there's this...

But you know, maybe you just forgot to check "Post Anonymously"?

Re:Too bad!
Given that it was so long ago, finding actual news sites is hard. I found http://www.memri.org/report/en... which has a summary of Arab reactions; some good and some bad.

Re:The sad part is...
I don't think they're idiots. I think that they think we are idiots.
When massive amounts of detailed information on intelligence programs and alliances is stolen and released to all comers and people try to claim that it doesn't cause any harm, as many here do, they might have a case to describe some of those people as "idiots."
Al-Qaeda's Embrace Of Encryption Technology - Part II: 2011-2014, And The Impact Of Edward Snowden
This issue of Inspire, the first since the Edward Snowden affair, includes a focus on Internet security. Most significantly, it notes on the first page, in all-capital letters: "DUE TO TECHNICAL AND SECURITY REASONS, WE HAVE SUSPENDED OUR EMAIL ADDRESSES TEMPORARILY." Since, as mentioned, Inspire has always provided email addresses and encryption information for readers wishing to contact it, and, as a major part of its outreach efforts, urged readers to write in, its decision to suspend its email is meaningful.
It is worth noting that this issue includes praise for Snowden, as well as for other Western leakers such as Bradley/Chelsea Manning and Julian Assange. It notes under the heading "Questions We Should Be Asking": "If those making blasphemy against Islam have the right to express themselves, why aren't the actions of Assange, Snowden, Manning and Hammond considered freedom of expression?"
The cover story, "Shattered: A Story About Change," by Abu Abdillah Almoravid, who also authored an article in the previous issue of Inspire, focuses on the immoral nature of America and, in another mention of Edward Snowden, how he helped unmask it.
...Praise for Snowden can also be found in Issue III of the English-language online Taliban magazine Azan, released August 26, 2013
....Also following the Snowden leaks, on August 30, 2013, Mula'ib Al-Assinnah, a senior member of the leading jihadi forum Shumoukh Al-Islam warned online jihadis not to use Google's Gmail because Google is part of the National Security Agency (NSA).

Re:Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out
Exodus 34, 11-14. Leviticus 26, 7-9. Deuteronomy 2, 21-24. Deuteronomy 2, 26-25. Deuteronomy 7, 1-2. Joshua 6, 21. Joshua 10, 40-41. Most of Joshua, in fact. 1 Samuel 27, 8-9.
Hmm, seems all to be Old Testament to me.
Tell me, how many self-style Christians have you seen over the years beheading captives on TV?
You know, "striking at the neck":
8.12: When your Lord revealed to the angels: I am with you, therefore make firm those who believe. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.
and
47.4: So when you meet in battle those who disbelieve, then smite the necks until when you have overcome them
So tell me, Einstein, which behavoirs do we see paraded around TODAY?
Is it the Old Testament ones you called attention to, or the KORANIC ones I've quoted above?
Got the balls to post a one-word answer to that question?
Why am I guessing the answer is a resounding chicken-shit "NO!"?
Got the guts to explain what happened to Theo Van Gogh?
Care to research the threat that Abdul Rahman lives under in Afghanistan?
Ummm, is that another chickenshit "No"?
Let's turn now to the pillars of Islam. The Sunni define five pillars of Islam: faith, prayer, alms-giving, fasting, and the pilgrimage to Mecca. I notice very little in the way of genocide in there. Also, in light of any controlling authority over Islam as a whole, I would point out that interpretations of both the meaning of Dar al-Harb and Dar al-Islam vary widely - but I will note that generally speaking most Muslims are of the opinion that anywhere a Muslim can live freely and follow his faith is part of Dar al-Islam.
Maybe so, but even if "most" Muslims agree with that characterization, there could still be literally hundreds of millions that adhere to a genocidal view of kaffirs daring to live in what was once dar al-Islam deserve to be, ummm, "wiped off the map".
Yeah, I know. It's hard to believe that's possible: someone openly stating that it's a goal to actually "wipe" an entire country, consisting of millions of people, entirely "off the map". Can you imagine how dangerous such a fundamentalist-Islamic-motivated person could be if he were to come to significant power to the point of actually being able to "wipe" an entire country "off the map"?
And considering that some polls reveal vast number of Muslims openly admit to supporting suicide attacks, I think it's safe to say that there's a good chance that a significant majority of Muslims at least tacitly support suicide attacks.
Scary, isn't it?
Lastly, once again, can you provide a citation from any vaguely organised group of Muslims who wish to reconquer Spain, please? Or would that puncture your rather one-sided view?
You didn't even bother looking for yourself, did you?
Good grief, the fact that you could be so damn ignorant about a belief that's utterly common in Islam is quite an indictment of your sheltered existence, isn't it?
Because calls for the retaking of al-Andulus have been going on for, ohhhh, about 500 years or so.
Is Al Qaeda loosely organized enough for you?
How about HAMAS?
How about all these "mainstream" Muslim clerics?
You sure seem to have an ignorant image of what goes on inside the world of Islam. Ever see

Re:That gets a lot done
Unfortunately, the internet is also a splendid tool for radical groups to communicate and share techniques for murdering people. The Islamist terror sites are a case in point. MEMRI monitors a lot of these sites and provides translations of some of their materials. The ideas they espouse are disgusting, and yet they manage to obtain web hosting services in the United States.
If political activism is allowed in Egypt, it may unfortunately mean a conversion from a relatively secular government to an Islamic government which will be even less tolerant toward the Coptic Christian minority. Already, they are not allowed to build new churches and are kept out of government positions. Many in Egypt fear that if free elections were allowed, the Muslim Brotherhood would quickly achieve a dominant position in their legislature. The MB is opposed to the peace treaty with Israel and their rise would probably lead to a major new war or, at minimum, new Egyptian support for Palestinian militant groups such as Hamas, which is an offshoot of the MB.
No, I fear that freedom of expression on the internet is a luxury that only the stable Western democracies and a few non-Islamic dictatorships can afford. Places like China and most of the Muslim world have very low tolerance for online organizing. Probably China could survive a democratic revolution and would emerge as an ally of the West if it did, but the Muslim world appears unready to put such power in the hands of the people.

Not really reported
I find what wasn't reported more interesting then what was. Many people still don't even know that Obama has a lawsuit against him in the Supreme Court.
Or that when Obama went to visit his grandmother on Oct 21, he had a lawsuit pending against him in Hawaii.
Maybe we should take a second and read what the Middle East thinks of Obama.
"But we were taken by surprise when our African Kenyan brother [Obama], who is an American national, made statements that shocked all his supporters in the Arab world, in Africa, and in the Islamic world.
"We hope that this is merely an elections 'clearance sale,' as they say in Egypt - in other words, merely an elections lie.So what was it that Obama lied about to his Arab, African and Islamic brothers?
You all may call me a conspiracy theorist, and maybe I am, but my world is sure a lot more exciting. Even if these clams are extreme, aren't they at least worth looking in to? I mean, if they're false then why would supporters even care that we do?

Re:I declare a fatwah!I love violence. I love free speech. Pretty much everything that's 'dangerous to the mental health of out youth' kicks ass. But if the film, say, encourages people to go out and punch a muslim, then yes, it should be banned. Surely you can appreciate that some stuff should be banned. (Kiddie porn?) If you can get your head around that, then you must realise that in some, limited instances, the right to offend is superseded by the right not to be harmed. How can I decide whether it's right to ban the film if I'm not allowed to see it? I am an adult and I reserve the right to self-censor. I don't need you or anyone else telling me what is good for me to watch, or what may cause me to "go out and punch a muslim [sic]".
This is not the "right not to be harmed". This is pure and arbitrary censorship. In some Muslim countries, the most vicious anti-Semitic and anti-Christian propaganda is freely broadcast for all to enjoy. See MEMRI for translations of this charming material that would have made Hitler's propagandists proud (for its viciousness if not its sophistication).
Muslims pretend to be offended by the slightest denigration of their culture and religion while they reserve the right to totally trash talk all other religions and cultures. Then weak-kneed liberals in the West come along to support them in their outrage.
I say, let the movie be shown and judged on its own merits, and ban internet censorship before it gets out of hand. -
Re:Cause for concernWell, for starters, it's not clear that "Iran has vowed to annihilate Israel"... Perhaps you should investigate who does the translation from Farsi to English for almost all the main media companies in the U.S. and Europe. It wouldn't surprise a lot of people - it didn't surprised me - that a lot of translations are done by MEMRI - http://www.memri.org//. So what's MEMRI?
Yigal Carmon, MEMRI's founder, is a former advisor on terrorism to the Israeli Prime Ministers, Yitzhak Shamir and Yitzhak Rabin, so he actually worked for both Labor and Likud governments. Praise for MEMRI should be taken with a grain of salt since it is almost always motivated by politics, not the quantity or quality of MEMRI's work. MEMRI has gained currency with most pro-Israel writers, as well as right-wing publications. For example, New York Times writer Thomas Friedman, a influential foreign affairs columnist, has used MEMRI translations a number of times in his columns. MEMRI is cited in several publications, such as The Times, The Washington Times, The Weekly Standard, The Jerusalem Post, The National Review, The Toronto Sun, Wall Street Journal, Libertad, FrontPageMagazine, Columbia Journalism Review, Associated Press, etc.
Bit of a bias heh? There's more:According to the National Review, 250 donors--foundations and individuals--fund MEMRI's activities. Among these private donors is the right-wing Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation , which gave MEMRI $100,000 from 1999 to 2000. In 2001, the Randolph Foundation gave MEMRI $100,000, and in 2004 the John M. Olin Foundation gave $5,000, according to Media Transparency.
and also,MEMRI was co-founded by Meyrav Wurmser and Colonel Yigal Carmon, formerly of Israeli military intelligence, "both of whom were early critics of the Oslo accords."
A little perl:* Elie Wiesel - Professional Holocaust survivor (as Uri Avnery refers to him), member of the Irgun Zvei Leumi [32], and professional moralist. "I hope you receive MEMRI's publications. I do. I find its material - translations and analyses of poisonous articles, hate-filled statements and slanderous accusations - vitally needed for the fight against antisemitism in the Arab world. Policy makers, legislators, teachers, and news commentators greatly benefit from its efforts to use truth in the service of peace." - Elie Wiesel, May 22, 2003[33]
Read it all here: http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Middle_East_Media_Research_Institute/ And even if Iran is developing nuclear weapons - and I believe they do - I really can't see why shouldn't they have the right to anyway... What? Are Iranians going to blow the world away? Ah ah... I don't think so... Besides, North Korea has nukes and I don't see any preemptive strikes... (I bet Japan would looove one of those..) Let's get serious gentlemen. Iran has the right to have a nuclear arsenal. Obviously, that would really upset the poor Israelis, since Iran would then be "preemptive-proof" and could openly support anti-israeli groups like Hezbollah and Hamas... But that's life... Besides, Israel has nukes too and I'm not so sure they are a model of rationality themselves... It's also ironic that the ONLY country that has ever used nuclear weapons was the U.S... Now isn't it? -
Re:public, who are invited
In his book Religion and Life - Modern Everyday Fatwas, Egyptian Mufti Dr. Ali Gum'a wrote that the companions of the Prophet Muhammad would bless themselves by drinking his urine, and described an incident of urine-drinking from a hadith: "Umm Ayman drank the urine of the Prophet, and the prophet told her: 'This stomach will not be dragged through the fire of Hell, because it contains something of our Lord the Messenger of Allah...'
"This blessing," Al-Gum'a added, "[can also] be done with the honorable saliva, sweat, hair, urine or blood of the Prophet. This is because anyone who knows the love of the Messenger of Allah is not repulsed [by these]; just as a mother is not repulsed by the feces of her son, this is even more so [in the case of] our Lord the Messenger of Allah, whom we love more than our fathers, sons, and wives. Anyone who was or is repulsed by the Messenger of Allah must recant his faith."
Following the ensuing uproar, Gum'a came to the defense of his fatwa, saying: "The entire body of the Prophet, whether exposed or hidden, is pure, and there is nothing in it- including his secretions - that [can] repulse anyone. His sweat smelled better than perfume. Umm Haram would collect this sweat and distribute it to the people of Al-Madina."

Re:Scaremongering
especially since their holy books etc were written long before it actually happened
A large part of Catholic doctrine is not contained in the 'official' holy books such as the bible (nowhere in the bible does it talk about a Pope, or priests, or the scapula, or the rosary), but rather by the catechism and periodic councils of priests and other leaders who every now and again 'divine' how we should dress, eat, or fuck based on 'research'.
To say that holocaust denial is not a common Islamic thread because their holy books were written before the holocaust is disingenuous. the ISLAMIC republic of iran held a large holocaust denial conference. There are about 50 videos on youtube from the MEMRI group (http://www.memri.org/) showing that on any given day, you can turn on the TV in the islamic world and hear a religious official or pseudo-academic deny the atrocities of the holocaust. -
Why does Iran need Nuclear Energy?
For all the anti-US trolling on slashdot you seem to be very ignorant of one very obvious question: why does Iran, which holds the second largest oil supply in the world, need nuclear energy?
On the one hand they have repeatedly declared they'd like to wipe "big satan" (USA) and "little satan" (Israel) off the map. On the other hand they have absolutely no need for nuclear energy anytime in the forseeable future. How can any sane human being not put one and one together?!
The US did not manufacture any of these statements; they don't need to. Iran's own president has repeatedly made declarations to this effect on their national TV station. If you insist on ignoring anything the US says, how do you explain the fact that Iran's own news agency has published this?

You're sticking your head in the sand
1. It's not a "small fraction" of Muslims who are what you termed "misguided". It is a significant fraction - significant enough to rule entire countries - Iran for certain, with major, major influences in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and probably quite a few others. Just listen to the word of the Iranian ayatollahs and government, Saudi state-sponsored imams, Hamas (who rules Palestine), and Hezbollah (effectively the rulers of Lebanon).
2. Yes, it's obvious that http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/ has an agenda. No doubt about it. But even if you discount all the singular slayings as criminal acts that don't belong, and toss out everything that's in Iraq and Afghanistan, you're left with literally hundreds of acts like bombings, honor killings, and Islamic-inspired slayings of Christians, Buddhists, and Hindus. No one has numbers like that for any other religion for the simple reason no other major religion today literally has any significant numbers of followers who are exhorted to kill for their religion. The only one that does that is Islam - where entire countries are urged to kill infidels. Go to another fact-filled but agenda-driven site to read about it: http://www.memri.org./ IIRC that site is run by ex-Mossad or Shin Bet. But there's nothing there but documented facts - and that's scary.
3. Others have brought up the Inquisition and the Crusades as evidence of Christian moral equivalence to Islam. Please note that those both predate the Enlightenment and the Reformation. Islam abandoned rationality 800 years ago. I believe the relevant word is itjihad. Why is it that even today Islamic leadership almost unanimously calls for the imposition of sharia, even in places like Canada?
4. If you don't think Islam is different from other religions, tell me any other religion extant today that has the equivalents of Salman Rushdie and Theo van Gogh. Go and research jizya. I was going to crack a joke about Scientology here, but the more I think about it, the more accurate that comparison might be - Islam is Scientology with a billion followers, several countries under control, lots of money, and soon nuclear weapons. And with an infallible L. Ron Hubbard as Mohammed, preaching "kill the infidels" instead of "give me money". Don't think so? Something like 15% or so of British Muslims openly admit to supporting the London bombings. Now, put that into the context of the Islamic concept of taqiyya.
Don't believe me? Read what Iranian President Ahmadinejad says. It's right out of the Quran. Listen to Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah. Those guys are saying they're going to kill infidels, and they're actually going about the process of either actively doing that or openly collecting the weapons that could do so.
This is a scary time - and a Dark Age is looming if we don't stand up for classical Western values against a religion who murders those who demand equal rights for women, a religion that condones the stoning of gays and lesbians, a religion that misogynistically promises 72 virgins to those that die while trying to kill infidels, and a religion that makes the most strident Bible-thumping Creationist look like an absolute scientific Einstein.
Just look what's happening in France. And the Netherlands.
Explain how all that's "shortsighted". I see a threat to Western values like human rights and the equality of all men and especially women being threatened by an evil, elemental force that has way too much potential to make Hitler look like a passing windstorm. -
Israel has this now. So does the CIA
There are several pro-Israel monitoring services watching the press - CAMERA in the US, BICOM in the UK, and MEMRI to monitor the Arab press. CAMERA is noted for having a good database of stories about Israel. Apparently stories mentioning Israel are found automatically, but evaluated by people.
The CIA has something called the "Open Source Intelligence Service", which started as the "Foreign Broadcast Monitoring Service". Visualize some poor guy spending eight hours a day listening to Radio Albania, all through the Cold War. Most of the content is terminally boring, but then, one day the announcer says "so we're invading Yugoslavia", and the CIA needs to notice this. There have been repeated attempts to automate the job.
-
You want his words, here they areFrom here:
"'Imam [Khomeini] said: 'This regime that is occupying Qods [Jerusalem] must be eliminated from the pages of history.' This sentence is very wise. The issue of Palestine is not an issue on which we can compromise.
"'Is it possible that an [Islamic] front allows another front [i.e. country] to arise in its [own] heart? This means defeat, and he who accepts the existence of this regime [i.e. Israel] in fact signs the defeat of the Islamic world.
"'In his battle against the World of Arrogance, our dear Imam [Khomeini] set the regime occupying Qods [Jerusalem] as the target of his fight.
"'I do not doubt that the new wave which has begun in our dear Palestine and which today we are also witnessing in the Islamic world is a wave of morality which has spread all over the Islamic world. Very soon, this stain of disgrace [i.e. Israel] will be purged from the center of the Islamic world - and this is attainable.
The phrase "purged from the center of the Islamic world" is pretty damn close to "wiped off the map".
So much for your apology for genocide. -
Re:This is how terrorism is fought against
Experience precedes ideology.
Ideology is taught from age zero.
From MEMRI
On "The Muslim Woman Magazine" program, the girl was asked whether she liked Jews; she answered, "no." When asked why she didn't like them, she said that Jews were "apes and pigs." "Who said this?" the moderator asked. The girl answered, "Our God." "Where did He say this?" "In the Koran." At the end of the interview, the pleased moderator said: "No [parents] could wish for Allah to give them a more believing girl than she... May Allah bless her, her father and mother. The next generation of children must be true Muslims. We must educate them now while they are children, so that they will be true Muslims.
Is this not contradictory to values you hold dear? Are you ever going to see this on Sesame street? or "The View"?
Wether or not expierience precedes ideology is moot at this point in history. The ideology is there, and being instilled in kids right from the get go.
Also, please see my other post under the previous response to your comment, about free agency. -
Re:Blame Bush?I thought you were against violence and prejudice and hate and all that. Yet, you are here trying to make a case that Iran's open calls for genocide are not really that bad at all. You attempt to do this by translating one of the pro-genocide quotes into something that means that Iran is merely trying to get the nation it hates to merely vanish.
...as if trying to get a nation of people to "vanish" is not still genocidal and is somehow commendible!. I hardly find the demand that a nation of millions of people get "erased from the pages of time" to be less of a call for genocide. Ahmadinejad actuallhy has said thatt "Israel must be wiped off the map" at other times, as have the nation's other leaders ever since Muslim terrorists took over the nation in 1979. The official name of Iran ("Islamic Republic") itself is a declaration of war and oppression. What of the many people in Iran who are not Islamic? Including those who practice the indiginous religion of Iran? They are clearly not welcome in a Muslim terrosit nation.Yes, we are being systematically lied to by those who for (whatever reason, even if it is not hatred of Jewish people) try to soft-pedal Iran's "We are going to use nuclear weapons to exterminate a nation" announcements of aggression.
If you want more factual quotes concerning Iran, visit this link: http://www.memri.org/antisemitism.html It contains links to many quotes from the Iranian dictatorship detailing its demands for the elimination of a nation in many ways. You will also find that the Iranian dictatorship is promoting the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion", which is an ages-old staple of European antisemitism. The Iranian government is also teaching the tale that Jews like to eat Christian babies...yet another staple of old European antisemitism.
I did reply to your other message, in which you seem to think that brutality against Native Americans is bad, but brutality by Muslim imperialists is somehow OK. I take it that the statements of Jefferson-era Americans about the Indians "vanishing" from the continent that truly belonged to the whites are bad, but statements from the Iranian government about the indiginous people of Israel "vanishing" are quite alright! You did say before that "Like I talked about before, ignorance and prejudice and fear are very comfortable together." You yourself are quite comfortable with them as long as the haters are only trying to get ethnic groups / nations to merely "vanish". -
Re:They need more than hate filled messages
Sorry, it is just odd that you said "Islamists"--that is a big category that encompasses almost every viewer we are talking about here!
I think you are confusing Islamic with Islamist. They are different.
You mean like the loving truths of the Christians?
The radical Islamists tend to hate the West, Christians, Jews, and a long list of people, institutions, and religions. They are very willing to lie to stir up people. Some of the current rioting over the European cartoons is due to their provocation in adding in additional cartoons to specifically insult Muslim sensibilities. Simply sticking to facts and truth would be a big start, no Christianity required for that. Watch some of the stuff here and see if you couldn't do better in conveying information closer to the truth, and without requiring mythical Jewish conspiracies. -
They need more than hate filled messages
Just for the benefit of a doubt, I'm going to guess that he wants to focus on distributing more white propaganda.
That means that he seriously believes that the people opposing us would stop if they just heard how nice we are.
That boggles the mind.
I can see why your mind is boggled since it is pretty certain that you are completely mistaken as to the intent.
It's more likely that the intent is to provide another source of news and views for the mass of Muslims & Arabs who are not committed to the violent Islamists cause. It might be a good thing if they had sources other than the hateful lies of the Islamists, and the government controlled media in the Middle East, which tends to spew some pretty vile things which you can see here. Muslim spokesmen regularly say that most Muslims want to live in peace. Maybe they will be more favorably inclined to so do, and to not assist the extremists, if they have access to news which sticks to being factual, or at least programming that doesn't regularly refer to Westerners as Crusaders, pigs and monkeys, call for the reconquest of Spain, applaud the exploits of terrorists bombing pizza parlors & pubs, etc. It is hard enough getting balance out of the American & European media. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this reported in the mainstream media. Arthur Chrenkoff's column listing good news from Iraq was practically unique, and not for lack of material. It is clear that if we don't speak up for ourselves, few if any there will. -
Re:Slashdot?
I agree with Richard Allen, there are increasingly Anti-American stories, the usual amount of duplicate articles, and overall lower quality than
/. of old.
And when I say "anti-american" articles, yea saying that 24 propaganda is /. worthy, then articles about the Al Jazeera working with Terror Groups should be up on the home page too, or hell start covering some of the things the Arab media says about us, if all that which you comment on are "News for Nerds, Stuff that Matters", then it all is
http://www.memri.org/
Hey, there is High Tech in Israel, including an Intel fab, which is News for Nerds, so then why doesn't /. have this on the homepage?

Re:Wow, and update of the leaflet idea
Yes, why would anyone dislike a media outlet with the courage to tell the truth about Bin Laden the hero of Islam, and those brothers of apes and pigs the American jews who were really responsible for 9/11.

McVeigh's the exception that proves the rule
And you'll note that OKC *wasn't* a suicide attack. Suicide attacks are pretty much the halmark of Islam, that "Religion of Peace". And aircraft hijackings in the US now are going to pretty much be limited to suicide attacks.
Ergo, hijackers of US aircraft will almost certainly be Islamic.
No, all Moslems aren't terrorists. But damn near all terrorists are Islamic. And that will be true until Islam undergoes it's equivalent of a reformation. Until Islam does things like recognize the rights of women, gays, and non-Moslems as being equal to those of male Moslems they're going to stay in the 12th century.
You really need to look up "dar al-harb", "dar al-islam", and "dhimmi". Then maybe you should watch and actually listen to Al Jezeera, or maybe pop on over to http://www.memri.org/ and see what the Islamic world is really listening to and stop believing what the NY Times has to say about the world.
It's a nasty world out there - "hate" isn't what comes from Rush Limbaugh, it's what comes from those folks who deny women the right to vote, drive, or own property, subject them to genital mutilation, and consign them to being the property of some man. AFAIK I can't think of one Christian or Buddhist or Taoist or even Satanist culture on this entire planet that does all of that. -
Re:Your sig
Do you think Christians are quiet when abortion clinics are bombed
Of course they aren't: we get to hear a media sound byte from ALL the major denominations declaring the action reprehensible and having no doctrinal basis. Does this happen when the bomber is a Muslim?
To be fair, some Imam will be interviewed telling us that Islam is against violence.
Two more will tell us violence is bad, but that we must look at the bombers reasons for acting out.
Five more will tell us that an ardent follower has been ruinited with Allah, having served his master well.
Thank goodness for sites like Memri that help us keep tabs on what Imams are saying in Arabic. Seems that more than once, several of those teachers have been found to be saying one message in English (Islam hates violence) and another message in Arabic (Allah needs warriors to protect Islam). -
the natural history of ...
....Isreal , the Jews..
Aaron seems to be a good sounding salesman that a good night sleep would overcome.... and I bet Moses knew this about his brother..
To read the Torah, its clear there was much volcanic activity going on of which the events of nature would lead to a logical sequence of events that any knowledgeable person would see comming. As it seemed Moses did, and then took advantage of it.
The country of Israel only exist out of deception of which the US helps to support.
How is it that such a country can exist and with nucular arms? Birds of a feather flock together? (WMD in iraq?? Show me!)
This all pretty much put into proper perspective of what the article is on about. A minor issue distraction? must mean they are up to something more profane?
The Torah is more human oriented and honest (you can more easily see acts of deception) than other religious work, even more popular than it.
When you have deceived everyone in the world, and such deception is a way of life for you, there is always one more to deceive..... yourself. A house fighting against itself will fall.
Maybe this article is good news... -
Incorrect
And the result of assumptions driven by ideology and a shoddy understanding of media than anything else.
Hate Radio in Rwanda played a major role in inciting the violence there; while B-97 broadcast through the Internet after being shut down by Milosovic in Serbia and still reached people inside the country helping in his overthrow. Radio was neither good nor bad nor had any special role in making people more passive or aggressive. It's just a tool.
So too with TV. A noted Palestinian Children's TV Host, all of 17 years old, blew herself up (and killed a 17 year old Israeli girl) at an Israeli Pizza parlor. Her "martyrdom" and murder (which is what it was) of the other girl was lovingly celebrated on Palestinian TV. Both Iranian and Palestinian TV shows reliably broadcast the most loathesom hate, including a series about "Israeli doctors" who steal Palestinian children to transplant their organs, including eyes, into evil and diseased "jewish leaders." The most recent Friday sermon broadcast by Palestinian TV compared Jews to a worldwide virus that would be "eliminated" which is pretty telling.
http://memri.org/bin/latestnews.cgi?ID=SD90805
If TV is used to push consumer products, depending on the society it might or might not moderate aggressiveness. If TV is used to push hate such asin Palestine, or glorify suicide bombings, you'll get more of it. A hammer can be used to drive a nail or bash someones head in, it all depends on the person holding it. It has no more innate morality than a rock. -
Re:Insightful?????
The NY Times is for ignorant, sheltered twits seeking reinforcement of their limited world view. And it's interesting that you claim the NY Times is defining talking points for the Democrats, giving them such good sound bites to use in the current debates on Social Security, judicial filibusters, the ongoing fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Because God knows, we need more talking points from the NY Times. We sure can't expect them to come up with solutions or actual policy proposals, now can we?
As for the Middle East, if I want to find out what's happening, I like to go check some place like MEMRI, where I can read about the side of the Middle East the NY Times will never have the balls to cover: the side where an offical Palestinian Authority imam preaches "We Will Rule America; Israel is a Cancer; Jews are a Virus Resembling AIDS; Muslims Will Finish Them Off":
We have ruled the world before, and by Allah, the day will come when we will rule the entire world again. The day will come when we will rule America. The day will come when we will rule Britain and the entire world - except for the Jews. The Jews will not enjoy a life of tranquility under our rule, because they are treacherous by nature, as they have been throughout history. The day will come when everything will be relived of the Jews - even the stones and trees which were harmed by them. Listen to the Prophet Muhammad, who tells you about the evil end that awaits Jews. The stones and trees will want the Muslims to finish off every Jew. -

That's not a refutation
The Reverend Franklin Graham called Islam a 'very evil and wicked religion' and said the Qur'an, Islam's revealed text, 'preaches violence.'
Unfortunately, they can both be true. You can have a majority of sane and decent Muslims AND the religion can be evil and wicked and preach violence.Converts are usually the most enthusiastic members of any faith. They often try the hardest to share what they now have with others. But you'll have to look a long, long time before you find another faith which motivates its converts to try to blow up airliners.
You'll find plenty more examples here, including examples of broad support for terrorism among Muslims even in the west. Also see The Middle East Media Research Institute.
It would be nearly trivial to quash that if there weren't facts behind it. Further, uncritical defense of the religion regardless of the crimes committed in its name or the actual attitudes of its adherents reinforces - justifiably - the very attitudes you're condemning. ... the responses have shown me that you, as a community, are ignoring the rotting buffalo carcass in the living room that is the very real hate-mongering within your ranks.Defending the indefensible is great training for second-class citizenship under Islam (dhimmi status; also see here).

Re:Repaid already?
There are laws on the books forbidding murder in every country - yes. However, that doesn't mean they are followed (remember Iran has the fatwa against Salman Rushdie - and don't even get me started on China honoring copyright laws on the books). Furthermore, the people we are talking about are NOT concerned with national laws. They are adherents to a radical, and distorted, view of Islam which expressly sanctions murder of innocents (cf. Section V. Killing Women, Children, and the Elderly is Permitted for one example.
Saddam did not "back" Radical Islamic terrorism any more than Islamic terrorism backed him - they were fellow travelers who found each other useful upon occasion. (see Weekly Standard article or, if you feel the source is too impugned despite the footnooting, how about the UK Guardian. Even the 911 report stated "Bin Ladin was also willing to explore possibilities for cooperation with Iraq, even though Iraq's dictator, Saddam Hussein, had never had an Islamist agenda-save for his opportunistic pose as a defender of the faithful against "Crusaders" during the Gulf War of 1991. Moreover, Bin Ladin had in fact been sponsoring anti-Saddam Islamists in Iraqi Kurdistan, and sought to attract them into his Islamic army." Chapter 2
So, while there is no evidence that that 9/11 was directly plotted by Saddam, there is a -lot- of evidence of other cooperation on a variety of traning and supply matters. Add into that Saddam's demonstrated willingness to use WMD on his own population and against Iran in a war he started, then the case for preemption becomes stronger. Not that the case is proven, but statements like "The current administration got all their facts about Iraq plain wrong" ignores the evidence out there (much of which is contradictory, admittedly) as well as the consensus pre-war intelligence estimates of the US, UK, France, Germany, Russia, etc. etc. -
Re:For The Case Not Seen It in Your 'Free' Media?
If youre refering to this article in the NYY post, then FYI.
That Yigal Carmon whos quoted in the article is kinda mossad guy and a known advocat of torture and the occupation of palestine. Maybe one of the most rightwing ones you can find. Notorious is his analysis of the madrid bombing (heres an interview on the topic hosted on the site of his MEMRI institute) in an attempt to side Aznar`s lies. Why the House chose him to report on arab media is up to your own guesses. German researcher Henner Kirchner hosts an article on his background, sorry its german.
Note: if a headline calls a human (whomever) a monster make sure to check the background of 'experts' quoted. -
Bin Laden threatens individual US States
Why are the major media sites not covering it?
Because they screwed up. Intentionality is left as an exercise the the reader. They mistranslated Bin Laden's speech where he threatens (according to them) nations that stand with Bush. According to the Middle Eastern Media Research Institute the correct translation for the word is "State", as in one of the 50 states.
In a nutshell, Bin Laden is saying, "if your state goes for Kerry there won't be an attack in that state." He understands the electoral college.
Well, guess what, tough-guy? - we ain't scared of your shit. We're going to turn the map Red just to show you we ain't murdering-thug-appeasin' lilly-livered cowards on this side of the big pond, and if you come after any of our people, no matter how they voted, it's just going to piss us off that much more and make your end that much more painful. There's a thermonuclear bunker buster with your name on it just waiting for you to pop your cowardly little Whack-A-Mole head out of your cave.
Three years ago we were afraid of this guy dropping a Bomb on us. Instead, the best he can do is a video tape. Wow, International Terror Genius. -
Kerry Endorsed by bin Laden
I don't see how anyone after reading this article can vote for Kerry. It's basically saying that we should give up all our rights/freedom for what a terrorist wants.
If we did what everyone else always wanted there would be no USA, no freedom to voice your opinion, or any other aspect of living that people take for granted every day.
Stand up and vote. It's more important than you think. -
bin Laden threatens the US

This is why it's important to be kept informed outside the media. This still has not been reported. -

Re:Middle East
Negotiations? Are you kidding? In July 2000 at Camp David, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak offered Arafat unprecedented offers - basically everything he could ask for, all the territories and a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. Arafat said no and at that point [1] decided to start the current war (no, it's not an "Intifada") in October later that year. Who do you want Israel to negotiate with now?
And do you have any better suggestions as to how Israel should wage its war on terror? Don't start telling me anything about leaving the occupied territories, as Palestinian terror existed [2] long before Israel occupied any of the land currently under dispute.

Re:ConfusedAll one has to do is look where the bloody, brutal conflict is in the world, and what do you find : Islam.
Let's take a tour, shall we?
Bombings in Spain? Islam.
Race riots in multiple northern European countries? Islam.
Slavery, massive brutality, genocide through just about the entire continent of Africa? Islam.
Children being kidnapped off the streets of Russia, brought to Chechnya to be videotaped having their fingers chopped off? Islam.
Bombings in Bali? Islam.
Unrest, bombings and general atrocities in southtern Thailand (never heard of that one, eh)? Islam.
Blown up school busses and general atrocities in Israel? Islam.
Schools being bombed in Russia? Islam.
People in the region for humanitarian reasons having their heads sawed off while still alive? Islam.
People cheering in the streets and partying as potentially 50,000 (-only- turning out to be 5,000) murdered in the World Trade Center? Islam.
Or this little appalling gem from Memri? Islam.
Beheadings in the Philippiines? Islam.
Towns razed and Christians slaughtered in Indonesia? Islam.
This list does not end. Follow the trail of brutality, racism, and genocide and 9 times out of 10 you find Islam. Intolerant to outside cultures to a degree unseen anywhere else in the world. This is fact. It is worldwide, it is consistent. It is in fact, a recognizable, repeating historical pattern. Until Islam gets it's shit together, right or wrong, people are going to equate Muslims with Terrorists.

Re:American opinion is no measure of truthWhat a dumb question.
Baath party officials smuggled weapons from Afghanistan and delivered them to Ansar al-Islam groups on northern Iraq
Kurdish military seized TNT from Ansar al-Islam that was produced by the Iraqi military
Abu Wa'il was an Ansar al-Islam operative, and he was also an employee of Saddam
Abu Musab az-Zarqawi is an Ansar al-Islam leader, and he received medical treatment from Saddam in Baghdad
After the US invaded Iraq, 8 foreign Ansar al-Islam operatives were taken into custody after a gunfight in northern Iraq. All 8 had valid Iraqi visas, meaning the Iraqi government approved of their presense.
(source, source)
Is that 100% proof that Saddam supported al Qaeda? Of course not, but you are still missing the point. Even if Iraq has nothing to do with al Qaeda, they have supported many other terrorist organisations (like Mujahedeen-e-Khalq, the PKK, the Abu Nidal Organization, and Hamas). We are in a war against terrorism, not only al Qaeda.
