Coral to the rescue...
Coral link here.
When posting stories that link to small(ish) sites, please append nyud.net:8090 to the hostname: It makes the Coral cache system cache the data. They have some tens of server worldwide to alleviate the load on the original site.
Also please load the site through Coral first before you submit the story. That way, Coral's caches are already filled, and the load on the main server can be even lighter.

Very Skeptical
After viewing the trailer and hearing some of the dialog and seeing the effects, im a bit skeptical that this could be more entertaining than the real thing.
to be honest, the actors sound like they're in a porno, except that instead of seeing naked people, we see lots of CG effects and homegrown lightsaber effects. I'm impressed at the quality they were able to achieve, yet the storyline and acting may prove to be even worse than episodes 1 and 2.
i'm afraid that they will stray down the same path that the first 2 did and be full of neat effects (which seem cooler because they weren't made by ILM) but have no strong points.
check the trailer and decide for yourself:

I'd post a torrent but I don't have a tracker... Perhaps Slashdot should run one for things like these ;) -

Re:Not a browser issue and not a Java issue
Agreed!
But on a side note, I tried visiting lyricspy.com from Firefox on my Debian box (sorry about the crappy screenshot, but you know - bandwidth and stuff) and it actually only displayed 2 yellow warning signals... Furthermore it said Publisher authenticity verified by "Thawte Consulting (Pty) Ltd.".This is definitely - most of all - a "dumb users" issue. Seriously... Firefox shows the bar at the top of the webpage display saying: To protect your computer, Firefox prevented this site (www.lyricspy.com) from installing software on your computer. If I haven't clicked on some "install" link/button, then I sure as hell won't let that site install anything - signed/verified or not.
I reckon Sun could implement some more sandboxing and dialogs, but the border between usability and security is once again challenged and we might have to face the fact that educating users is the only way out of the persistent malware problem.

Intersesting seeing the artifacts...
If you load up page and watch the very last video, can see a slight artifact in the reflection of the hanging stuffed animal. There's little spots of orange color, like you would get out of the AirCan tool in MSPaint.
I have a feeling this could be corrected with another scribble or two. Really a stunning piece of work. Very cool. -

Coral links for dummies
That's not how Coral links work. You have to put the ".nyud.net:8090" right after the hostname (or, to express the same thing in another way, right before the first single slash).
To whit: http://www.tomsnetworking.com.nyud.net:8090/Sectio ns-article106. php.
However, it's not working right now. -
Re:Slashdotted
Shouldn't that be http://www.tomsnetworking.com.nyud.net:8090/Secti
o ns-article106-page2.php instead? And from here, I can't connect.. -

Re:Gotta love IBM
Parody? No, my friend. Landover Baptist is a parody. Betty Bowers is a parody. OBJECTIVE: Christian Ministries is not. Compare their merchandise. Read their articles. Christian Ministries is even trying to shut down Landover Baptist. Trust me, I wish it was a parody but it is not. Christian Ministries is one of the websites that are parodied by Betty Bowers and Landover Baptist. Unfortunately, some of the christian fundamentalist websites are for real. That is why we need parodies, to expose the real ones. Saying "oh, it must be a parody" is easy. Many dangerous things look like parodies. For me every website of scientology, homeopathy or acupuncture and touch healing looks like a parody, but are they? Or maybe you could somehow support your claim?

Gotta love IBM
I remember when a friend of mine working at IBM when they were in the process of chosing the name told be that he was pushing the "Blue Gene" name to piss off creation "scientists" and other religious nuts who don't believe in genes and the fact of evolution and speciation in the DarwinOS-style fashion. Just wait before "Dr." Richard Paley (a teacher of "Divinity" and "Theobiology" at Fellowship "University") will write another idiotic crackpot bullshit in his "Evolutionism Propaganda" column. Let me quote: However, these propagandists aren't just targeting the young. Take for example Apple Computers, makers of the popular Macintosh line of computers. The real operating system hiding under the newest version of the Macintosh operating system (MacOS X) is called... Darwin! That's right, new Macs are based on Darwinism! While they currently don't advertise this fact to consumers, it is well known among the computer elite, who are mostly Atheists and Pagans. Furthermore, the Darwin OS is released under an "Open Source" license, which is just another name for Communism. They try to hide all of this under a facade of shiny, "lickable" buttons, but the truth has finally come out: Apple Computers promote Godless Darwinism and Communism. People like "Dr." Richard Paley makes me proud to be an atheist, and the humor of IBM's and Apple's developers only keeps reminding me about it.

Re:Why? Whats it for? Whats it do
I'm being serious. Tell me something neat and impressive that I can make it do, so I too can start preaching the genious of Google.
* It has automatic IM logging and fast searching among logs. I used to save all my chats in a folder and use Windows file find to find stuff. I still save the chats, but I use GDS to search the text (and pull up the original if necessary).
* It finds most common file types (read: MS Office, and whatever you write a plugin for) and can search within them, quickly. It searches all recognized file types in all parts of the hard drive within insignificant time.
I tried searching, for example, for some phrases that I know are in some sourcecode files I have. It didn't find the files containing the code. I guess it doesnt recognize .c or .h as text to index them?
It recognizes .cpp perfectly fine. -
