Not really...
http://craftbeertemple.com/vid... http://www.ratebeer.com/Story.... Most people drink their beer too cold (and drink crap beer), but drinking it at room temperature also isn't really the best for taste. You can do what you want but I like my beer cool. I keep my homebrew in cases then put in the refrigerator for a short amount of time prior to drinking.

Re:Yeah, and...?
OTOH, it's an excuse to talk about beer. Matter of fact, I'm having one right now.
;-)Well, what did you have? I just enjoyed a couple of cheap-ass Grafenwalder from Lidl, Finland.

I've seen it happen myself dozens of times
Basically any site that includes a forum can get blocked if someone in the forum links to something considered malware. I actually have no idea how places like Slashdot haven't gotten blocked for that (maybe they special-case high-profile sites?), but a bunch of smaller sites with forums like ratebeer and Gamasutra have gotten blocked repeatedly.

Re:Audiophools
I enjoy being a beer snob without spending much money.
In my cupboard I have bottle of Rochefort 10 - claimed by overly-enthusiastic Americans as being one of the best beers in the world. Except it only cost me a Euro down at my local supermarket. One of the advantages of living in Belgium. :-)
(And it's more of a beer to drink slowly on a cold winter's night, sat in an armchair in front of an open fire - if you want something colder and more refreshing, there are loads of other beers to choose from. Excluding Miller Lite, obviously!) -
Re:Liquid Nitrogen cheaper than beer
Old English malt liquor got 0.72/5 on rate beer
Read the comments, it tastes horrible, but it has a relatively high alcohol content, 8% I believe, and teenagers buy it in 40 oz bottles, which fucks you up. At $8 at the local liquor store, it's about the price of a cheap six pack, and if you smoke a joint first, it goes down fine. -
Re:We all know what to do now:
Don't talk about american beer !
Czech have much stronger (and better) beers:

For europeans, american 'beer' is no beer. -
Re:Well thank goodness (low-alchohol)
Clausthaler is crap. You want lower calories? Drink Guinness. 125 calories, 10 grabs of carbohydrates. Compared to 96 calories and 5.8 carbs in Clausthaler (their Classic; I would wager that the Golden Amber has slightly higher stats for both). Guinness isn't amazing by any means, but it's far better than that swill and boasts only slightly higher stats for calories and carbs.

Re:Oh, great
Anyone drinking 8 pints of duvel is going to wake up in their own vomit
:)I can second that. And you could also try Chimay Bleue, another Belgian beer. I'd challenge you to drink a pack of 4 bottles (4*33cl) and still be conscious after that.
But then again, maybe I wouldn't challenge you because I don't want to spoil good beer.

Re:not such a good idea...I saw this a few weeks ago and thought it was the best thing ever, until i thought about it a little. no good beer comes in cans See if you can find some Dale's Pale Ale. It's definitely not your run of the mill canned brew.

Re:FUCK YOU, spin-master.
You want the figures... here's an analysis of the numbers from the NHTSA themselves...
If you can prove the claim, here's $20,000 for you...
And... well... you can't cry if I link the NHTSA's actual numbers, can you? Of course, pay special attention to the passenger, rider, and NON-OCCUPANT figures... that means that the driver had no alcohol in his system, but someone in the car did...
And please note the difference between alcohol-related, and BAC
.08+. Also, please do a little look to see what .08 BAC does to reflexes... and how little it takes to get there.Also... look into the actual statements of MADD, and look what they're fighting for... and look into a nobody named Candy Lightner, and check into her current job, and why she is currently doing it.
Or look into the GAO's research to the NHTSA's claims...
I can only lead you to the information, I can't make you read them, nor can I make you believe in them.

Re:The lawsuit had no merit whatsoever...
So you'd obviously never tried to explore the world of beer as there is far more to it than Bud, Millers and Coors would have you believe. Just look at http://www.ratebeer.com/ or http://www.beeradvocate.com/ (yes, there are a few snobs but most of them are as 'normal' as a typical Slashdot reader).

I guess we're out of business!
Using web forms to make consumer ratings?! I guess RateBeer.com is out of business as soon as Amazon steps into the beer space. Heheh.

Re:Give me Java Porter any day...Not that I've tried Coffee Beer, or Beer Coffee, I see another local brew,New Glarus outranks Lakefront
;)Either way, I'm sure pretty much any coffee beer will taste better than Nestle's version, patented or not. just as long as they keep their ridiculous patents away from beer.

Prior Act
I dont no if it is obvious or not but it has plenty of prior act eg.: Americas Triple Black Coffee Stout
-
Re:Here we go...
-
a couple of contentions
There are actually a ton of coffee beers, although not in the same sense as the article suggests:
http://www.ratebeer.com/ and search for 'coffee', 'mocha' or 'java'.
However, these are simply Porters, Stouts, etc. that are brewed as they would normally be but with the addition of coffee, being a complimentary and intuitive adjunct since roasted malts frequently contribute a coffeeish, roasty sort of malt bitterness and flavor to many dark beers.
In fact, this Nestle product wouldn't even seem to be eligible to be called beer since it doesn't appear to contain malt, a prime ingredient of beer along with water, hops and yeast. -
Re:What ?!
You must be German - There's a whole world of darn good beers outside the Deutsche Reinheitsgebot. Try them, I promise you won't be disappointed.
Hoegaarden Grand Cru for example has curacao peel, many white beers and triples have a hint of coriander. Westvleteren 12 trappist has rye in it. Who would _dare_ not to call it a beer? -
uncool
Did somebody say my name? Does this mean I have to link to Apple now? What Amish loser thought 'Why ask why?' would be a good slogan for a 'dry' beer? And why the hell would that same asshat marketing team think anybody would want 'dry' beer? What's next? 'warm flat' beer? Sign me up! What? They actually still make bud dry?!? blargh!

Re:College kids and yuppies
You haven't had a "sweet" beer until you've tried Carib Sorrel Shandy. It's a mix of Carib Lager (the Caribbean's answer to Corona) and Sorrel flavored (somewhere between flowery and strawberry) soda. At least that is what I thought. After drinking one I now know that it has all the sugar (if not possibly more) of the soda, and absolutely no hoppiness - not even the level of other North American lagers/pilsners.
I don't regret the experience as it was a hot night, but I don't need to repeat it. And this comes from someone who is regular drinker of home-mixed ginger beer / lager shandies.

Re:Please define it

And no, it doesn't taste of fish. It's rather surprising, but good. -
Let's drink better beer.
Not that YOU personally would do this, but I have seen discussions arguing over "Beer X is better than Beer Y" where both sides clearly need to widen their beer horizons.
So let's get edjumucated. (and seriously, what could be more fun?) Here are two lists of (mostly) great beers that have very wide distribtuions--go out and find something on these lists that you haven't had, and try it tonight!
RateBeer's top 'accessible' beer list.
BeerAdvocate's 'Best Most Available Beers' list.
There are other lists, too, these are just to get you started. You can go to both site's "Top beers" to find a list of even better beers, although many of those could be hard to find. -
Re:I hate beer snobs
Different people taste different -- or have different tastes -- something like that.
My favorite beers come from Victory Brewery, in Downingtown, PA. Their beers rank among the Best Beers in the World. -
Re:Boddingtons? EWWWWW!
Informative, eh? Hardly. Your comment is far more ignorant than informative. The United States should be considered beer nirvana for any true beer fan as American craft brewers have the full spectrum of beer styles covered, from the truly experimental and style-defiant to beers that are so traditional and historical that they're rarely still seen today. Let's see if you've had any of the Top 25 American beers, as rated by the friendly beer geeks at RateBeer.com.

Re:Free as in beer!?3. Why hasn't someone started a global beer database complete with comments and opinions posted by beer drinkers all over the world? (Brits, with their taste for warm flat beer get their comments marked specially...)
Someone HAS started a (mostly) global beer database. RateBeer.com They claim to have over 16,000 beers currently listed...
