Climate change hasn't affected bushfire occurrences significantly in any way. This is all speculation and from a very unscientific standpoint as far as I can tell.

Notice where many of these fires occur...Australia. And the documented dates go back to 1851. Climate change has nothing to do with anything, a bushfire is longstanding and naturally occurring event, and has been observed that way for 150 years on record.

Where is the data that shows that fires have occurred more often and burn longer and stronger AND the reason so is climate change and not the fact that suburban sprawl introduces woodland areas to power lines, lit cigarettes as litter, and other human fire related causes?

So taxing business is mostly an illusion, as few business actually pay taxes. As you said it is pandering to the masses so that they think that "fat cats" are paying taxes. Granted wealthy people do pay most of the taxes, but it winds up being people rather businesses that pay those taxes.

I am curious if eliminating the payroll tax (both employee and employer share) for a short term period would be a better option as it would free up a lot of money for personal as well as corporate spending.

In France, which is admittedly far more technologically advanced than any other nation w/ regard to nuclear power, 80% is considered a failure and 85% would be a record. Probably what France would consider a failure would be pretty good in the less developed countries.

The wikipedia estimate of capacity factors for wind power vary from 20 to 40%. Probably 30% would be "typical".

The greenhouse gas emission of the concrete in a plant seems fairly pointless... A thousand windmills might replace one nuke plant (or maybe you'd need 4000), and a thousand windmills is a lot of concrete foundations. Probably building mounted solar uses the least concrete per KW, followed by coal, nuke, followed by ground mounted solar, followed by hydro, followed by windmills at the highest use.

I have no idea why no one makes solar powered concrete kilns. A long solar concentrator around a pipe with a big hydraulic ram at one end like a car compactor. Every morning push a days worth of limestone in one end, and cooked limestone out the other end. Make the pipe a couple weeks long. "Free" cement?

You had me right up until you said "more competition, cheaper prices." Sorry dude. You've got four major established players, and you'd naively think this would mean vigorous competition, but in fact there's little evidence for this idea, and more troubling, there's evidence for collusion. (Shock! Gasp! A free Market perfect information perfect competition, doesn't and can never exist in actuality? Sob! Genuflecting at the Alter of Free Markets has done nothing! Cartels exist? Cry! Suicide!)

What about his executive order disallowing any interrogation techniques not defined in the Army Field Manual (i.e. no waterboarding, no torture)?

What about telling the EPA to look into letting California define their own, stricter auto emissions standards (instead of locking them to the federal standards like Bush did)?

What about signing the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act just yesterday?

What about striking down Bush's ban on giving federal money to international groups that perform abortions or provide abortion information? You could make an argument about abortion here, depending on which side of the issue you stand, but this money is also used for other medical procedures performed by these organizations.
