no zombies please

you can also get them faster from here
shinyfeet files just click on the Free Demo and in the File Manager under Fedora Core 4
-
this is just as good
-
glad you asked, i use this bad boy
check out demo calendar
the todo list kinda sucks (ok it sucks hard) but the calendar works well, and you can put a mini/small calendar on the left folder view and it highlights dates that have appointments on them. I believe you get an email reminder as well (optional). -
better than no censorship, right?

there are no answers

hurray for patents, next sure them for this one
-
i like this

interesting, what I use works too
I have some control, I am not writing milters or anything like the author, but with my shinyfeet account I have my gmail, yahoo, hotmail and a few various others (domain's I own, etc - and I can use the FROM option so I don't have to reply as downsize_sf[AT]shinyfeet if I do not want to, I can keep my domain email addy, or gmails, and so forth) forwarding to it and I see very very little spam.
they use bayesian filtering, but give you the control to configure it to some degree (interesting bayesian spam comparisions here - http://home.dataparty.no/kristian/reviews/bayesian /) and I get my own BL filters too, so I can turn on/off spamcop, DSBL, and about 20 others.
i'm not getting 1million anything a day, but if I was, I am glad I use the service I do to prevent me from having the headaches - as I am sure I would if I stuck with yahoo (is my bulk folder overflowing or what?) -
Re:Released but...
you can get them here in the file manager, root directory both dvds hopefully they will stay until i finish downloading

it's been my fault even ;-)
in my past, I have worked as an admin. actually not that long ago I worked for a company that still ran NT 4.0 with Exchange vDinosour. The machines ran on tar from the tar pits.
Anyway, my job was to keep those damn things from extinction - it was a near impossible task.
On a couple of occasions the email server would get completely full (how's a total of 16GB for a 200+ person International company grab ya?) and email would stop. I would have to jump through hoops to get space back - force users to make personal .ost files yadda, yadda
The kicker was always that everyone would scream and bitch about loosing money and can't operate without email.
My point was always A) switch to linux and B) if you loose money and operations cease, why not spend ~$20K and get a stable email system in place? If they would have put any money into their cornerstone, life-blood system (email) or used an outside service provider - I'd still have a job and they would not be OOB! :-P -
got your meth right here
-
but they are giving this away

gone

someone had some MAC viruses shared here
-
too bad they do not have any left to buy
this bad ass company would turn a larger profit and star, er store trek

frequency yes, but email tracking and retracting?
I completely agree with these findings in regards to frequency. But I sure hope these users know what they are asking for with those 'reverting sent emails and email tracking' features.
Checking your email at the start of your day is no different than checking your voice messages or notes left on your desk - this really is not all that surprising. And besides myself having over 32,000 emails stored and composing/replying what seems like every other minute, most of the other people I correspond with reply quickly, which would indicate that they check their email quite often. And I have worked at companies where email is their life, some people have emails dating back to 1997!
'retract unread messages' is funny - you send it, oops! I want it back! The could only happen on an enclosed system, unfortunately. But it is probably a good thing, wouldn't want people to be able to manipulate your inbox that way. I think a trailing header 'cookie' (dare I say UID 'ducks') could be achieved so you would know where your email ends up, how many times and to whom - but it would take a while for all email systems to integrate that feature.
What is amazing to me by this study, is that the features these users want are arguably gross invasions of privacy. -
as /. continues to struggle, google articles...
abound. Management has put down the law stating 'nothing can save us but google advertisment, we need to do everything in our power to ensure they purchase our network'

i'll have them available
if you have an account here I will be getting the release (same goes for FC4) and putting it in a shared dir. email me and I'll add you to the share. this should be 10x faster than the mirrors that will get bogged down, as shinyfeet.com is not a public file server, but does have file sharing (for its users).

Re:torrents come and go
dude, you forgot the '?' in the URL and you are losing valuable free ad days. YOUR correct URL would be:
http://www.shinyfeet.com/?afd=91
ain't I a nice guy? -
Re:torrents come and go
I have over 20GB of linux distros/kernels in my online file storage.
Not that my English is perfect, but shouldn't that be "had"? -
torrents come and go
I have over 20GB of linux distros/kernels in my online file storage. I have hit many of the torrents over the past couple months stocking up. I can't stand trying to find a mirror that is fast enough, so storing them, as I do, works out perfectly.
this article's http://www.linuxisotorrent.com/ site will be sweet to find some of the stuff I've been having trouble locating (I hope). so far it looks very cool -
there is a better review here
-
now see, this is why you should use something like
shinyfeet.com
they force a security image (like the one slashdot finally added for posts) for things like signup, and password checks/changes. this prevents scripts from harvesting anything.
I have used them for a few months, I use my shinyfeet address for everything, subscriptions, newsletters, orders, etc. and I see no spam (unless I check my junk folder).
So even if my email was sold from one of the sites I registered with, or they harvested my information from, say slashdot, Shinyfeet's spam filtering is good enought that I do not have to deal with it. My Yahoo and Gmail accounts, on the other hand, are not nearly as nice to me when I have to try and shift through non-stop SPAM in my Inbox. And I haven't even used Gmail for much! -
wow, they spelled it wrong
what a ton of wasted mods on this article - so glad you http://shinyfeet.com/ mod'd up that w00t fp to a 5 or might not have seen it. But now, I am a much better person, friendly to both cats and dogs, and sure enough, I got my 15 IQ points back from sending email and smoking weed, I mean weezil

this is GREAT for all, stop crying
ever hear of 'no such thing as bad advertising'? artists of all levels, from just starting out, to top of the charts benefit from internet sharing.
everyone loves to argue that it hurts the music industry or hurts up and coming artists, but the only thing it can really do, is prevent shitty artists from making money - and how is that a bad thing? if you make crap, don't cry to the world that the problem was file sharers, the problem was your crappy music.
now I know there are 100 different ways (now, due to the pressue internet sharing put on the industry - you used to get stuck with a crappy cd) to test out music before you buy it, but is there a good way to listent to a full album for a while to decide if you really want to purchase it, or go to one of their concerts or support the artist in other ways?
i'm not normally one to cheer on France, but looks like they've done something right - I wonder if you were able to internet share paintings, sculptures and other artist work (beyond music, you get me) if France courts would be handing out the same ruling.
however, after IDRTFA (i did read the f'n article) this judge's statement is way out of place: "Judge Dominique Barella told Wired News. "It's like condemning people for driving too fast after selling them cars that go 250 kmh."" uh, ok so don't condemn me for using a gun that you sold me which I used to shoot you, or drinking too much of their Wine and drive around knocking out pedestrians - maybe i should retract my statement about France being right :-}
don't hate me for this, they have file sharing, so it fits the comment -
go ahead and block it, webetter stick to webmail
I have been with approximately 15 different ISPs in the past 10 years. Needless to say, all but 2 had horrid SMTP servers (same goes for their POP3's).
Which is why so many choose to use webmail providers such as http://fastmail.fm/ and http://shinyfeet.com/ for their day to day stuff, and only use the ISP given email for very little correspondance.
so I keep thunderbird open for the ISP addy and firefox open for the webmail.
I do like that the FTC is getting other governments involved. -
gotta be safe, No phishing here
gotta get a http://shinyfeet.com/ account, their technology detects phishing sites and removes the threat and flags the email.

/. that shinyfeet ahole
let's hurry up and
/. that shithead that keeps posting and referencing shinyfeet
everyone go to http://shinyfeet.com/ and let's shut it down before that fucker posts about it again -
Re:boo-hoo MPAA
don't you mean http://shinyfeet.com/?
-
boo-hoo MPAA
number one at the box office and what NN million by the end of the weekend is just not enough?
if it was a shitty movie (have not seen the theater nor priated version), then I applaud those that p2p'd it, found out it was crap and saved their money for something else, like shinyfeet.com perhaps (oh wait, that's free)
once again, MPAA just abused the media for some more free advertising for their current blockbuster -
morgan stanely needs shinyfeet
now see, if they used http://shinyfeet.com/ (ref not disclosed to keep the whiners happy), non of their email would have been deleted
:-} -
does this apply to online (hotmail?)
seems *very* insecure to me. they have no ssl login, they might be doing something securely under the hood, but I doubt they'd put money into that.
so I guess I would ask them about their email security, even Outlook/Exchange seems to be extremely weak.
and compared to http://shinyfeet.com/ (secure, unlimited space and online file storage) I'll never use hotmail again. -
Re:Contest site is flawed
They should have simply supplied the link in a non-discrinating sort (such as alpabetical) and a very brief description of the site's theme. The ranking should not have been displayed until after the contest was completed.
agree on the ranking being displayed at the end, however, alphasort would also be a bust as the winner would create the site AAABCDEFixingToWin.com or something else starting with A's, then you have the same result as the top spot getting the most hits.
I don't see much going on with viral marketing from those sites though - not that I looked at enough of them.
When I think of viral marketing I think of http://hotmail.com/, http://shinyfeet.com/ or http://yahoo.com/ as they all have the tags in your email with urls, and some, like shinyfeet have ad free contests that involves viral marketing. -
Re:Get real
without question they [MPAA/Lucas] just got 100,000 free hits and X amount of free advertising. MPAA will cry about loosing some money, but all it does it help make everyone aware (or those whom might have forgotten, missed the commercials, etc) that SW3 was released today.
If anything, they are complaining because their lawyers are jumping all over this and charging them (as you stated) more than what the perceived, guesstimated, loss of revenue.
anyway, someone with a shinyfeet.com premium account needs to share it to me :-} here's my id:downsize_sf -
nice to see the gov's are not complete idiots
or maybe CAN's official's palms are not as well greased like there are here [US].
RIAA (and MPAA) need to get some criminal proof so they can use subpenoa's, otherwise, just pointing and saying 'gimmie' is not going to make the courts jump on their side.
P2P does not appear to be dying, as long as you lump bittorrent under that umbrella.
I'm suprised more people are not using services like http://fastmail.fm/ and http://www.shinyfeet.com/file sharing (well fastmail does not have sharing, but you can put small files into a public folder - shinyfeet is unlimited space/storage but no public, must be shinyfeetshinyfeet)
but I guess those services are too much like the old napster. -
Re:Time for GMail to bump it up
they've already been taking over by http://shinyfeet.com/ their the first to offer unlimited email space, but the killer is, unlimited online file storage as well. it is free, and there are some ads (as with all the others) but they are not intrusive and certianly I can put up with them for unlimited space. Shinyfeet Storage Usage: 0.0000000012% of Unlimited Disk space used: 12.2GB
-
Re:Nice...but not necessary
and for webmail, shinyfeet has the best spam filtering I have experienced. fancy or not, it certainly works (and with their unlimited setup, you'd need something that works)
