Internet Messages Don't Work on Chinese SoldiersWhen you are dealing with nationalists hell-bent on global domination, no amount of Internet messaging can convince them to stop their killing plans. The Chinese are driven by fascism, indicated by their brutal suppression of the Tibetans, the Uyghurs, and other groups.
How do you stop the Chinese? Not Internet messages. Think "nuclear warhead". Think "flame thrower". Think "spreading HIV throughout the Chinese population."

Secure Communication and the Chinese ThreatWhat is interesting about this laser technology is that it enhances secure communication. You can point the laser at precisely the location which should be receiving the encoded signal.
As usual, we must ensure that this technology remains in the West. China remains an ever present threat to peace and stability. This technology would enhance China's ability to wage war against Western society.

Colin Powell was Right on IraqColin Powell had warned that we should not invade Iraq because we do not have enough troops for the operation. Bob Woodward of the "Washington Post" had documented Powell's disagreement with Donald Rumsfeld. Interestingly, Rumsfeld stays, but Powell quits.
Right now, Iraq is a mess.
Guess who is aggravating our situation? China. It has thrown its support behind Iran, which is supplying most of the insurgents in Iraq. The Chinese are morally bankrupt.

China has Nuclear Missiles Pointed at the USAThe Chinese, being the barbarians that they are, have targeted most of their nuclear missles at us and Japan. Further, the Chinese intend to militarize space; their space program is entirely in the Department of War. By contrast, NASA is an entirely civilian operation.
That the USA has a successful test of a laser weapon is good news. It will defend the homeland against Chinese nuclear missiles. Also, I'd be interested to know what technologies the Japanese contributed to the laser weapon. It would be quite handy during the next submarine incursion.
The Japanese deploy a particle beam weapon and a laser. The laser knocks out the Chinese spy satellite. The particle beam weapon knocks out the sub.
sweet.
Take a gander at the Yahoo! News article about the shocking brutality of the typical Chinese.

CENSORSHIP: Additional Test for Search EnginesThe article starting this thread fails to include 1 additional test for search engines. It is the censorship test.
Which of the companies -- MSN, Google, Yahoo!, and AskJeeves -- is willing to stand up to the Chinese barbarians and to refuse to censor any results from the search engine?
We know that Google is willing to succumb since it hires a large number of Chinese H-1B workers.

ENVIRONMENT: Dell has been improving.According to the latest report by the Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition (SVTC) , Dell has now become a leader in supporting the environment. Just last year, Dell acted essentially like a Chinese company, destroying the environment and abusing the groundfloor workers. Note that all Chinese and Korean companies have consistently flunked the evaluation done by SVTC.
Given the new attitude at Dell, perhaps it now wants to support AMD because AMD is simply more American than Intel. Intel hires a much larger number of foreign workers than AMD. Of course, Intel is also a slave galley, just like most Chinese companies. In fact, many bosses at Intel are Chinese.
Brutality and cruelty are a Chinese way of life.

Something Not FunnyThere is a more substantial difference between rural America and China/India. The rural American supports Western values: human rights, democracy, equality of women, and compassion. The Chinese/Indians oppose Western values.
We should outsource work to only regions or nations that support Western values.
Note that the Chinese routinely rape and kill Tibetans. Both the Chinese and the Indians support targetted abortions killing female fetuses; the ratio of male to female babies in both India and China is 1.20. The normal ratio is 1.05, which exists in both the USA and Japan.
God damn the Chinese and the Indians.

Thank goodness that Mandelbrot is a Westerner
The good news is that Mandelbrot is part of Western society. If he were in Chinese society, his brilliant mind would be devoted to concocting "better" means of torturing prisoners, women, children, Tibetans, etc. [tibet.org].

China: Morally Bankrupt SocietyThis week, the "Wall Street Journal" (WSJ) is making its online articles available for free. The WSJ reports that the Chinese are the worst offenders in terms of piracy of software, music, movies, etc. 20% of Chinese products are pirated copies.
Now, throw in the suffering of the Tibetans, and you have a morally bankrupt society: China.

Something not so funny. The Tibetan people are committed to Buddhism and nonviolence. Yet, how can they defend themselves from the Chinese?
The sentry robot would be ideal. For example, if the Tibetans engaged in prayer with a picture of the Dalai Lama, the sentry robot could watch in the front yard. When it sees a Chinese beast moving ominously towards the Tibetan home, the robot signals the Tibetans within the abode. They then quickly disassemble and hide the picture of the Dalai Lama.
This solution is only a short-term solution. Long term, you must skill the Chinese beast.
For the uninformed, the Chinese use electric cattle prods to sodomize the vagina of Tibetan nuns.

NASA should keep the study "top secret".If the Chinese knew how to build a smarter person, then they would. Imagine a race of supermen, in China, who are morally bankrupt. They would enslave the world.
The USA would become a "Tibet" for China. Many Americans ignore Tibet, thinking "it could never happen to us". Think again. The Chinese are animals.

Re:Nothing to see here...What the statistics do not tell you is that most phishing schemes originate in India and China. Especially since China does not have an extradiction treaty with the USA, there is no way to catch the bulk of the culprits. Phishing schemes and junk mail go hand in hand. China is the king in terms of generating the most junk mail targetting North American Internet users.
The only way to stop the problem is the encourage American vigilantes to enter China and to go on a hunting expedition -- if you get my drift.
P.S.
The vigilantes could also kill a couple of Chinese thugs in Tibet. The Tibetans would certainly appreciate the help. -

A Modernizing China is a ThreatYesterday, a policy analyst formerly employed at the State Department gave a talk at my university. He noted that the Chinese have moved 150,000 soldiers to the North Korean border to warn the Americans that if they attempt to obliterate any weapons of mass destruction in North Korea, then the Chinese will intervene.
China is a huge threat in the region. China is best understood as a society with deadly, ultra-modern weapons coupled with a barbaric, medieval mindset. It is an ogre in the 21st century.
The Chinese routinely rape and kill Tibetan nuns and children. The Chinese routinely abort female fetuses, producing a skewed ratio of male babies to female babies. There is currently a deficit of about 15% (!) in the female baby population.
By the way, you can listen to radio station that streams Fox News Radio for free to anyone on the Internet.

Politically Correct Versions of the PastAs Westerners, we can face history and understand its truth. So, we would not shun it.
The same cannot be said of, say, the Chinese. The reality of 1895 Shanghai is that, under Western domination, the city prospered. For the first time in its history, people enjoyed codified laws that police fairly enforced. The rest of China was a pig sty: warlords controlled vast stretches of land and ruled by whim.
If we created an accurate virtual reality of 1895 Shanghai, the Chinese would be up in arms, crying "racism", "bigory", and "Western oppression". They would accuse us Westerners of distorting history.
Now, consider a virtual reality of 1951 Tibet when the Chinese armies were ransacking Tibet and pursuing the Dalai Lama to kill him.

Axis of Evil: China, China, and China.Thank you for your sanity. Only a loon would equate Chinese society and Western society.
In the USA long after the Patriot Act was enacted, huge numbers of demonstrators packed the streets to protest the Iraq War. The American government, reflecting the will of the American people, defended their civil right to protest.
By contrast, if huge numbers of demonstrators packed the streets of Beijing to protest the rape and slaughter of Tibetan nuns, then the Chinese police and the regular Chinese people would kill the demonstrators.
One additional point is worth noting. After a speech by a scholar from the Rand Institute, I went up to the scholar to give him a word of advice: "Never base your analyses about Korea, China, etc. on interviews with Chinese, Koreans, etc. They never admit the negative elements of their societies."
He agreed with me.
The regular Chinese will do just as much as the Beijing government to deny any wrongdoing by Beijing. Such is the nature of Chinese people.

China: Synonym for OppressionMany sites in China are blocked. Consider the following.
Interestingly, the majority of Chinese support the actions of their government. Consider the fact that more than 50 percent of Hong Kongers prefer social order over democracy despite the fact that the Hong Kongers have full knowledge of the evils of China. More than 60% of the Hong Kongers enthusiastically supported the unification of Hong Kong and China.
The latest action by the Beijing is a thinly veiled attempted to use "smut" as a pretext to censor. Such is the nature of Chinese culture.

CN is from CentaurThe new chip, CN, is actually from Centaur Technology headquartered in Austin, Texas.
Via bought Centaur ages ago. Via is based in Taiwan and carries all the associated baggage: Taiwanese transferring American technology to Beijing and the Chinese military . Hence, although Centaur is American, I will boycott this chip for ethical reasons: e.g. Tibet .

Gartner Report is Right About "Emerging Markets"According to various reputable sources, the rate of software piracy in China (which includes Taiwan province and Hong Kong) exceeds 90%. In other words, the Chinese simply stole 90% of all software used in China.
Since all software is essentially free in China, Linux will have serious trouble in gaining market share in China and other emerging markets. Microsoft Windows is "free", and Linux is free.
That 80% of Linux desktops sold in China is running Windows merely confirms the above analysis.
The problem will not be resolved any time soon. The Chinese have almost no respect for human rights (e.g. brutal occupation of Tibet) or property rights (e.g. theft of software, blueprints for microprocessors, "Star Wars" before its American debut,
...). -
Web Site can Assist Terrorism: China's News AgencyThe idea of identifying terrorist web sites is excellent as long as the American government is consistent in its policies. The list of terrorist groups should also include the web sites for the following organization.
The "China People's Daily" is run by the Beijing government and is the mouthpiece of the Chinese government. It has conducted a number of terrorist activities in Tibet. You can find some descriptions at Tibet Online and Amnesty International.
Further, operatives of the "China People's Daily" were stationed at the Chinese embassy in Serbia in 1999 when the embassed was hit by American bombs. The majority of people in China (which includes Taiwan Province and Hong Kong) supported the Serbian military aggression against the Kosovars. The Serbians executed thousands of men, women, and children in Kosovar in an attempt to remove them from Kosovo: the Serbia military raped the women and slit the throats of the children. The Americans sent military forces to Serbia in an attempt to stop the genocide. At the time, Chinese operatives of the "China People's Daily" operated secretly from the relative safety of the embassy and relayed communications to the Serbian army and helped the Serbians to defeat American electronic warfare. (reference: "NATO hit embassy on purpose")
The Serbian aggression against the Kosovars was strongly supported by the Chinese and is the first major case of genocide after the genocide of the Cambodians by Pol Pot. The Chinese also supported Pol Pot.

Ethical Issues When Buying Commodities (like Pens)A fellow Slashdotter asks the following.
What [pen] do [sic] the geeks of Slashdot use for writing?
Pens, like toothpaste and batteries, are a commodity. Most pens are identical in function, quality, and price.
So, which pen do we buy? In general, when we purchase a commodity, we should base our decision almost solely on ethical issues. What ethical issue? The issue is the country where the pen is manufactured. When we buy products made in a particular country, we indirectly lend our support to its value system. In particular, we should avoid products that are "Made in China" (which includes "Made in Taiwan" and "Made in Hong Kong"). You can find many reasons for avoiding products "Made in China" by visiting Amnesty International and Tibet Online".
You can also find some reasons at CNN. According to "Kill and cull: China rejects doctor's testimony", the Chinese forcibly remove the organs and skin from non-consenting prisoners on death row. Sometimes, Chinese "doctors" remove all the skin while the prisoner is awake and conscious. The bulk of the customers who receive these organs come from Taiwan.

Taiwanese HypocrisyEveryone knows that the Chinese commit gross human-rights violations in China. Amnesty International and Tibet Online have documented these violations well.
However, there is something that very few people know. Namely, the Taiwanese constitution, the highest law of the land in Taiwan, supports the geopolitical objectives of mainland China. Specifically, the constitution states that Tibet is part of China. The Taiwanese education system teaches children that Tibet is part of China.
While the Chinese army regularly beats, tortures, and kills Tibetan nuns, the Taiwanese insist that Tibet should be integrated into China. Meanwhile, the Taiwanese demand that the United States of America (USA) sells weapons to them. This hypocrisy is disgusting.
Furthermore, after the Tiananmen Square incident in 1989, the USA and other Western countries immediately curtailed or froze investments into mainland China. The intent of these economic sanctions were thwarted by Taiwanese duplicity. How? The Taiwanese seized this window of opportunity and provided any money or technology that the Americans refused to provide. Starting from 1989, the Taiwanese circumvented the sanctions and poured investments into China. Taiwanese investments in China have grown at double digit rates and have reached the level of $50 billion in more than 50,000 businesses in mainland China.
Please read "Understanding Taiwan: Security Threat to the USA".
The USA must immediately terminate the Taiwan Relations Act (TRA) and stop selling weapons to Taiwan. The time has come to end the relationship of hypocrisy with Taiwan.

85% of Taiwanese Support Unification with China
Personally a lot of the Chinese I know think of the Taiwanese as people who can't speak proper Mandarin...They also believe that Taiwan should be part of China again.
85% of the Taiwanese consider themselves "Chinese" and also support the idea that Taiwan is part of China. They also support the idea that Tibet is part of China.
Remember Tibet? That place is where the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) have tortured and killed Tibetan nuns and priests. Please visit the websites for Amnesty International and Tibet Online.
While the Chinese PLA is committing gross violations of human rights in Tibet, the Taiwanese support a Taiwanese constitution that insists on integrating Tibet into China. Furthermore, the Taiwanese education system teaches Taiwanese children that Tibet is part of China.
In the United States of America (USA), the majority of spies who steal American technology to give to Beijing were born or grew up in Taiwan. Another unusual aspect of these spies is that the majority help Beijing for no financial gain whatsoever. They help Beijing simply because they consider themselves Chinese and because, according to the spies, China is the motherland.
Please read "Understanding Taiwan: Security Threat to the USA".
The time has come to end the hypocrisy and the nonsense from Taiwan. Americans should cancel the Taiwan Relations Act (TRA) and should stop selling weapons to Taiwan.

FRAGEMENTING THE OPEN-SOURCE MOVEMENTThe most important issue is that creating yet another open-source operating system defeats one of the key value propositions of Linux. Namely, there is only one dominant open-source operating system: it is Linux. It can run on almost any platform. If you write an application for Linux, you can practically run it anywhere with, at worst, a quick re-compile.
By contrast, UNIX failed to gain significant marketshare against the onslaught of Windows because there were simply too many incompatible operating systems called UNIX.
If this Japan-China-Korea operating system (JCKOS) gains any significant share in Asia, then we will have 2 incompatiable operating systems: JCKOS and Linux. JCKOS will be similar to Linux but incompatible with it.
What could be the motivation for this stupidity? Japanese society, as a whole, is a Western society, and Japan has slowly been moving from a 2nd-rate Western nation to a 1st-rate Western nation like the United States of America (USA). Unfortunately, due to Japan's proximity to Asian countries like the brutal totalitarian regime called China, there has always been a tension between (1) Japanese bureaucrats who lean towards Asia and (2) Japanese bureucrats who lean towards the USA and the rest of the West. The Western Japanese have usually prevailed over the Asian Japanese. A key example is the USA-Japan defense treaty.
Unfortunately, occasionally, the Asian Japanese prevail in certain matters. We, Slashdotters, should send an e-mail to the Japanese embassy in our Western nations and tell them that this idea for an independent JCKOS is hurtful and harmful to the open-source movement. Also, do the Japanese really want to work with a brutal totalitarian regime like the Chinese, who have routinely beat and kill Tibetan nuns? (reference: Amnesty International and Tibet Online).

Re:The problem with Taiwanese business man85% of the people in Taiwan consider themselves to be "Chinese". The constitution of Taiwan explicitly says that mainland China, Taiwan, and Tibet are one nation. The Taiwanese support this position even though the Chinese army continues to rape and kill Tibetan nuns. Please see "Tibet Online".
Further senior military officials in Taiwan's military regularly go to China to obtain lucrative jobs. In exchange for these jobs, they provided information about the American military weapons purchased by the Taiwanese government. A recent example of this kind of military-technology hemorrhage is the F-16 fighter aircraft. Taiwanese military officials have already given the necessary specs to Beijing.
Let's put an end to this nonsense. Boycott products "Made in Taiwan" along with products "Made in China".

Most Versatile Setup for LCD TelevisionFor maximum flexibility, select the following for your $1000 budget.
- NextVision N6 by Viewsonic

- Sony stereo system
- video/audio cables
While you enjoy your time shopping for this equipment, please remember that when you buy products made in a particular country, you indirectly support the value system of that country. So, please avoid products that are made in China (which includes Taiwan and Hong Kong). At Amnesty International and Tibet Online, you can find plenty of reasons to avoid products "Made in China" (which includes "Made in Taiwan" and "Made in Hong Kong").

Re:Sure i'll buy oneFree Tibet
In this context, your post is a little funny, but the flagrant abuses of Tibet that China has perpetrated since the 1950s are inexcusable. The fact that China is even allowed NEAR the United Nations is a gross mockery of justice.
I know I'm evangelizing here, but people need to know that one of North America's big trading partners uses techniques every bit as brutal and inhuman as Saddam Hussein's.

All About the SameMost of the brands of rechargeable batteries have about the same performance. Rechargeable batteries, like toothpaste, is a commodity product. If you want minimum cost, avoid specialty outlets like Best Buy, RadioShack, etc. Go to Target or Walmart and look in the battery aisle. In fact, if you buy plain-vanilla electronic goods and supplies, then you should always go to Target or Walmart. Never go to a specialty electronics store.
At Target, you will probably find 3 or 4 brands of rechargeable batteries. Since all the brands are about the same in performance, you should select the brand based on country of origin. Remember. When you buy a product, you indirectly support the value system in the country of origin. In other words, avoid "Made in China". You can find enough reasons for avoiding "Made in China" at Amnesty International or Tibet Online . "Made in China" also includes "Made in Taiwan" or "Made in Hong Kong".
"Made in USA", "Made in Japan", or similar Western-country label is usually a safe bet in terms of (1) the quality of the product and (2) the value system in the country of origin. As an example, consider the Energize Rechargeable Batteries.

Re:Good ol' Slashdot DualityThat's Taiwan, our ally , not Mainland China, the oppressive enemy power.
Therefore, isn't the fact that Microsoft's closed source policies stand in the way of China's attempts at fullscale net censorship, a good thing?
That's not the issue, MS's policy wouldn't stand in the way, and doing the right thing for the wrong reason shouldn't buy one any moral credit.
