Do these teens have computers in their own rooms? Is so, you should strongly think about removing them.
Only have 1-2 computers in your house with internet access and place them in 'common' areas. That way you can better monitor their online usage and curb it back.
I see these 'stat whores' in BF1942 all the time. The absolutely have no interest in winning the objectives, only to get kills (and not get killed) so they can look uber elite on BFTracks.com or something. So obviously most of the these types spawn in as snipers.
When you join a game and the side you are on contains 75 percent snipers you know you are playing with a bunch of stat whores......
I first read about serious lock hacking in the book Hackers by Steven Levy. The early hackers at MIT were notorious for hacking locks on office doors, toolboxes, safes, etc. to get to tools and information.
My first real introduction to the internet and email was thru a unix shell account. It was a company based in Ann Arbor, I think it's name was M-Net or something. Don't even know if it exists anymore.
Used pine, lynx, gopher, etc. all the time. Actually myself and two of my friends 'shared' the account in order to keep the costs down.
I live in Indiana, and I don't want to change because changing all your clocks twice a year is a pain in the butt.
I lived in Michigan from 1990-1998 and failed to understand the big deal about daylight savings time. In the winter it was dark by 5pm and in the summer it didn't get dark until 10pm.
From the system requirements: "TCP/IP (Internet Connection required for installation); 56 Kbps or higher modem (128 Kbps ISDN or better recommended)."
Considering most of Indiana is rural and those living in those areas with internet connectiions are still using 56K dial-up, this could be a big stumbling block to geeting SimIndiana off the ground.
My parents and MIL live in a rural area of Indiana and even though they have 56k modems the phone line quality is so poor that 29.2kbps is the best they can get.
I hope this works. It sucks having to shell out $49.99 for a 'new' version of Madden that essentially contains only roster updates and maybe 1-2 small new features.
This may force EA to charge more competative prices for it's Madden series.
What kind of communication infrastructure do you have? If you live in a rural area and only can get 56k dialup working from home could be a problem, depending on what you do.
I live in a small town of about 16k, surrounded by nothing but farmland. So far the broadband options available are DSL (SBC only starting offering in 10/2003) and a very-overpriced wireless DSL offerred by a local ISP. But if you live >2-3 miles from town, 56k is about your only option.
I used to have a game for my C-64 called 'Alter Ego' that allowed you to live out the life of another person. Different events would occur based on the choices you made. A pretty neat game for the time.....
In this case it was to M:TG from 1995-1999. I can't begin to tell you how much time and money I spent on this game. The term 'Cardboard Crack' is very appropriate.
For me first it was the collectable aspect; trying to get complete sets of card. I eventually acquired several. Then it got more into the playing and strategy, acquiring those cards that could complete that 'killer' deck or combo.
But around 1999-2000 my priorities started to change so I sold most of my 'good' cards but still have a huge box left sitting in the bottom of my close. The only rare card I've kept is a Shivan Dragon signed by the artist for somewhat sentimental reasons.....
I've seen my three oldest sons go through similiar 'addictions' with Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh! and others. The good thing is that my wife and I hold the purse strings for their purchases.
As for the 'clix' type of games; I've played the Battletech version a time or two. It is OK but I really prefer the old map-and-miniature version (another of my gaming addictions).
Sorry for the pun. When I played Ultima Online back in 97-00 when you died some of your stats and skills you worked hard to improved were reduced. Get killed too often in a short period of times and you pretty much went back to a 'newbie' in terms of skills and stats.
Of more concern was that fact that the items you carried did not 'respawn' with you. They were frequently looted and you had to buy/acquire new equipment.
This was several years ago however, so the rules may have changed.
One of the things I dislike about most of todays games is that any difficulty or challenge can be circumvented by cheat codes or those Game Shark things.
I don't use cheat codes ('old school' gamer I guess), but my 12-year old son does. Whenenever we get a new game one of the first things he does is search the net for cheat codes. I alwasys ask him 'why do you want to cheat?' and his response is usually 'because the game gets too hard otherwise.' Sigh.........
Wrap you cables in double-sided tape? Cat hate the sticky feeling on their paws. It worked when our cats were getting in the habit of clawing our screen windows...........
The quick answer is they can't. But Blizzard can wave it's ban stick around and hope to scare it's subscriber base into submission.

Taco must think Michigan City is really in Michigan. And the guy lives in Ann Arbor. Sigh............
The moon would be a good place to store it, unless we decide to build a base there. Anyone remember Space:1999?

I was finally able to get DSL about 8 months ago, and I live in an Indiana town of about 16k.
I've heard of other rural areas finally getting DSL as well, but the rollout seems to be rather slow. Whereabouts in IN are you?

I have a Yahoo! Plus account thru SBC DSL and it got upgrade from 75mb to 2Gb as well.
My free Yahoo account also got the 100mb upgrade.
Who knows what I'll do with all this storage. I guess I won't have to empty my Spam folder as often......
And the 10mb limit on attachments is still too small IMO. Although I don't know it they increased it for pay accounts.
Sorry, I mistyped. Actually I don't pay full price. I wait 4-6 months after the initial release when prices fall about %50 or so.......

I was gonna say take the bus or carpool.
Unfortunately mass-transit leaves a lot to be desired in the majority of U.S. cities.
After reading a bit of the front page and FAQ this sounds like a combination of EQ and UO. I've never played EQ but was a UO player from 98-01.

I am personally getting ready for BF: Vietnam. It has 'gone gold' earlier this week and should be in stores mid-to-late march.

I agree with this. The easy portability of the GC is one of the reasons I bought one for our kids.
My son takes it over to friend's houses all the time and we recently took it to our church for a baby-sitting fundraiser. The kids loved it.
Um, if they did this wouldn't you just have a PC in a fancy box?
Could be. My experience was from circa 1993-1997, so things could have changed.....
