Alienware didn't invent this
the PCI and PCI Express have had this written into spec
AGP does too, but when was the last time you saw dual AGP slots on a mobo? (they do exist)
*sigh*
why do they do that!?!
that's like comparing umm... compact cars to luxury/sports cars
of course it's cheaper to maintain a desktop-sized machine with 1 or 2 processors running a 2000$ OS than it is to run a 2 million dollar machine running a free OS
from what i know about centrifuges, which isn't much, but should be enough in this case, wouldn't this thing be like a car that can only turn left?
there's an outside edge to a centrifuge and that would only imitate the force of a certain manoeuver in only one direction, but be completely unable to imitate it in the other direction
i did something similar on my AP exams with my 48G+ i had all my files and whatnot stored as libraries, and anyone with an HP calc knows that the libs don't clear when you pass the reset button over to the exam guard
back in high school i did something unheard of
everyone had TI-83's - i had to have an HP48G+; it was the best thing i could have done. once i finally figured out the RPN on it (yeah, it was the first time i'd ever used that style) it was more powerful, faster, friendlier, and had cooler games to play on it. (a testament to the Saturn processor?)
i didn't care if i couldn't play tetris with my friends on link cable, i didn't care if there was only one person in the class who had one besides me. while everyone else was trying to figure out how to send files with the wire discreetly, we were quickly Beaming lines of test over about 3 feet via the IR signal
now that i've seen this one, i want another one - sure the 48G+ has loads of life left in it, but this one has USB of all things i'd love to have on my 48G+
so what happens if you don't like the crap they wanna force-feed everyone?
what if your style is industrial, ambient, techno, folk, noise - whatever... stuff that isn't top-40 is most likely going to be ignored completely; and these students will still be forced to pick up the tab
There's a 'field house' here at the university; a nice recreation facility, but there was a HUGE uproar from students who didn't want to foot the 40$ per semester fee to use it whether they'd actually use it or not - i forsee similar outcries about any service which likely would suck for all but the lowest common denominator - pop music is all you'll see, and it's what we're all force-fed right from the start
I'm 20 now, and haven't been on ritalin for about 4 years...
at first, i REALLY hated the fact that my parents were (more or less) forcing me to take them - all i knew about it when i was 8 was that it changed the way i thought, etc... bad enough as it was
as i got older, say, through junior high, i was still on the drug, and went in search of ways to channel that energy - i ended up intimitely knowing the anarchist's cookbook - some trouble with the law over that
older still, in high school, i started to realise it's potential and started to do better in school, and found it was actually doing what it was meant to do... stop the hyperactivity, and gave me focus
about half way through my final year in high school, my parents finally took me off the drug (just before i'd be able to say no legally anyways) and i noticed that i really didn't need it nearly as much anymore - i'd actually grown into the focus i got accustomed to; thinking before i did things actually happened then
i just live my life as any other geek does now... geek job, geek life, geek girlfriend
as an end user, i really have no idea what the difference will be to me... is there gonna be some great new things happening?
can someone enlighten me as to what I'M going to see with IPv6 vs. IPv4
I wanna see who's gonna come out on top too, but either way i want a new GeForce Leafblower (TM) to run it on
who cares about noise? who cares about heat?
it's all a pissing contest in the end, and Half Life 2 and Doom 3 are on equal footing to me, and i'm gonna download copies of each
nobody gets MY cash
dear god you're right!!!
it's not like dragging your finger through clay though
when you use the beam, then drag it, the metal will accumulate near the start point, not where the beam is
in all, it's a pretty cool application of physics, really, and deserves this patent
at least they're not trying to patent electrons

reminds me of good 'ol /. with the ad-banner down the side

submit all your new up and coming sites to slashdot and see how long it takes to bring them down again
you spelled 'australians' wrong :P
(i'm canadian too eh)

depends if you like Guinness or not... you'll notice Guinness has more of a foam than a fizz
cute...
i'll stick to using an old pc wired to the stereo to do the job though - i got THAT for free
my 48g+ does, so i assume yeah... or it won't take long for it to play it and TI-83's, 85's and 89's can all do it
that's what everyone says every generation on the Apple roadmap
and i'm totally disapointed each and every time
Linux make something better?
unbelievable!
