  1. everything is CRAP on Music Downloading not Entirely to Blame · · Score: 1

Well, considering most of the artist I listen to are dead, (70's rock) I listen to XM radio. I get a GREAT mix of music, and with the Sky-Fi2, I can store 8 artists in the memory, and if they pop up on any of the 66 music channels, I can pop right over to them. I'm like others, I buy used CD's when the need arises, but, there isn't anything "new" usually out that I want to listen to. Also, why bother buying them. When I'm at a stop light with the window down, I can hear all the new music coming from the gigawatt stereo in the car next to me...LOL

  2. Slate.com isn't a "respected" outlet on CBS Sees no Journalism in Blogs · · Score: 1

  3. Union? on Virtual Stuntmen Ready for Hollywood · · Score: 3, Insightful

  4. Isn't it nice...... on Bright LCD Patent Dispute · · Score: -1, Troll

Isn't it nice to see that the manufacturing community is taking a page from the private sector by SUING everyone in sight at the slightest hiccup? Our world is going down the tubes, thanks to stupid trial lawyers like John Edwards......who made his MILLIONS by suing doctors. It won't be long before you will have to have a lawyer to do just about anything. Shakespere was right......kill all the lawyers......

  6. I could care less on Stern Will Jump To Sirius In 2006 · · Score: 2, Insightful

I could care less where stern goes. I don't like his garbage or anything he has to say. Yes, unlike some, I have listened to his show to make my own judgement on it's contents, unlike a lot of people who will complain about something, but never read/saw/heard the source. That being said, I could care less WHAT he says, but I care greatly that he has the RIGHT to say it. He is simply exercising his RIGHTS of freedom of speech. I am exercising my freedoms by turning him off. I don't understand why people think we have to be "protected" from acts such as stearn. The government thinks that the bulk of the populus is so stupid that they need to be coddled. Screw that. Once you make a law that ucerpts(sp) freedom of speech, you do the same thing that some have done with the 2nd amendment. Ok, ban certain words, then a few years later, ban a few more that are "just like" those that we banned earlier and so on. It CLEARLY states in the First amendment: "Congress shall make NO LAW........" how hard is that to understand? NO LAW, means NO LAW....period, end of arguement! Let Stearn or anyone like him do whatever he/she wants on the "commerical public" airways (within the bounds of the stations license), if there is a market, more power to him/her. If not, the show will wither and die. If he wants to move to satellite/subscription radio more power to him. His life, his rules...if the broadcaster doesn't like that, then he can find one who will allow his brand of humor. I won't object one little bit. I could care less. I don't like his "humor", but he's free to spew it.......I just turn off the radio or change the station. Doesn't bother me if he's on the radio...I won't be shocked, I don't need to be "protected". I just don't listen.

I'm sure you, Gus, Deke, and Alan are having a good time catching up on things up there in heaven......

  8. A fitting end on Space Station Turning Into a Trash Heap · · Score: 1

A fitting tribute to a STUPID idea. Government build/funded space station. After todays X prize flight, maybe the government will start to get out of the space business, and let private industry do it! Had the administration told NASA to build a 100% reusable space vehicle that can have a one week turnaround, be capable of carrying 3 people, NASA would have spent 10 years just "studying" the idea, and countless billions of dollars. Anything the government can do, PRIVATE industy can do better, and cheaper!

  10. The UN is just like the League Of Nations! on Bruce Sterling says: Marry the UN and the Net · · Score: 1

As a "student" of history, the U.N. is just about as laughable as the old League of Nations. Heck, they didn't "stop" Hitler when he violated the Versailles treaty countless times, which lead to WW2. The U.N. was developed from the ashes of the League of Nations after WW2, and about the only thing they are good for, is taking up prime real estate in NYC, and, getting its members out of parking tickets LOL. As stated above, they are a corrupt, inept organization who's time has passed. It's time to get the USA out of the UN, before wer turn our selves over to them, and their stupid laws.

These are the same people that can handle 8 bingo cards, and clog up the convenience stores buying multiple lottery tickets. Liberals cannot give you a reason to vote FOR them, but to vote AGAINST someone else. E-V-E-R-Y recount showed Bush to be the winner. PERIOD. A.C. The AI isn't very good on most of these games. Get killed, and the bad guy is in the same place he was the last time. Other than eye candy, they are going to have to turn up the heat to make FPS any better than what came out 6 years ago.

  16. LOL!!! on Insurance Companies Try Out Auto Black Boxes · · Score: 1

"While this may be a privacy issue, it can also make better drivers out of everyone if insurance rates are adjustable based on the way everyone drives" When pigs fly out of my butt! You think for one minute the insurance company is going to do anything to benefit rate payers, then you have got another thing coming. Considering the lobbying effort of trial lawyers and insurance companies, what this will eventually do is cause ALL vehicles to have black boxes that the rate payers will be FORCED to have, and FORCED to send the data to the insurance company. Once the data is received and they see a "pattern" they will "adjust" your rates. I'll wager a years salary that the "adjusted" rate will be always higher. The ONLY thing I would be in favor of, is the black boxes which would DISABLE a vehicle if the owner did: 1. Not pay his insurance, 2. Has a suspended drivers license, 3. Failed to register his vehicle. If they would do that, then I might be inclined to go along with them, but to use them to "adjust" the insurance rates is a cheap ploy to dig into the rate payers pockets more.

  17. FINALLY! on Inflatable Spaceship Ready for Test · · Score: 4, Interesting

The "heat shield" is back! For 20 years, every American launch used an ablative heat shield for reentry. At least someone is starting to use it again, than trying to "fly" back from space using something so fragile that it could be damaged by a piece of foam insulation going several hundred miles per hour. Ditch the shuttle and bring back ELVs

Personally, I'm hoping any buildings that contain the shuttle fleet get FLATTENED by the hurricane. The quicker we kill off this stupid white elephant, the better! It's a black hole pouring money into the shuttle. It's old, obsolete, and in its current form, DANGEROUS. When the shuttle was first conceived back in the late 60's it wasn't suppose to have this stupid booster rocket design, but to save money, that's what they went with. Kill off the shuttle, and go back to ESV's. Hell, the Saturn V booster NEVER failed.

  19. Re:Nuclear energy works! on China Goes Nuclear · · Score: 1

AMEN! I've been wishing some country would finally start building Nuclear reactors for ages. We missed out 30+ years ago when the enviromentalist types pretty much stamped out all nuclear plants being built, then the movie China Syndrome came out and put the final nail in the coffin. If this country wants to start breaking its dependence on the middle east, and the pollution from coal, then the new style SAFE nuclear plants will be the future power sources for the world!

They can redesign a Mac all they want, and will still only have a very very small percentage of the market. Why? Real simple. 99% of the software written, is written for the Windows OS. Steve Jobs, in his "wisdom" kept the Apple design in house so to speak, instead of making it like the PC "CLONE". That was the death of the Apple/Mac. It's a great computer, a fantastic OS, but, when they kept the lid on the hardware, the PC clone market just destroyed them. Mac's will probably never have more than a single digit market share. Jobs killed the Mac, and no amount of slick redesign, marketing hype will ever fix it.

  23. XM radio on In-Game Advertising Breaks Out · · Score: 1

Commercials were the #1 reason I switched my listening habits for music, to XM satellite radio. Yeah, it's not free, but it sure is free from commercials on the music channels! I even time shift just about any show on TV. I start the PVR, wait 15 minutes, then start watching the show on the delay, while it continues to record. When a commercial pops up, I just fast forward. On a 1 hour show, by the time the show is over, I've caught up with it bypassing the commercials LOL

  24. Could someone PLEASE put this out of its misery? on Lucas to Make Sequels to Star Wars After All? · · Score: 1

As with the Star Trek Franchise, the Star Wars franchise needs to be shot dead for about 10 years. I'm so sick of "trilogy" movies that the first one is usually good, the rest try to suck the life out of the others to the point you can't stand any of them. When Star Trek revived the "originals" back in the late 70's, and then redid the tv version in the 80's, when the original crew ended, and the TV series ended they should have just stopped for about 5 or 6 years. There isn't any originality in scripts anymore :(

  25. I had one that was like that CDW commercial on The Cost of Computer Naivete · · Score: 1

My boss was coming back to use the computer in the shop and I asked him why, he said too many pop ups on his. Went to check, took 4 hours to clean his computer out. 23 adware, 2 trojans later I got it cleaned out. We were trying to figure out how it got so screwed up and I was looking at the programs on his computer, and found a couple of games. I asked him about it, and he said that he didn't install them. Then he said I bet my kids were using my computer while I was gone the week before. Sure enough, they had been online, playing games and something got installed and screwed it up. Why kids are allowed to mess with company computers, I guess is the misfortune of working in a small company. Needless to say, Active X has ben turned off, stronger antivirus software installed, spy cleaning/scanning software installed, and all password protected, and I'm the only one with the password.
