Re:not the typical nerd
Of course we need to remember those who have already extended and enhanced the Star Wars universe. Who can forget this visonary film maker?

And more exclusive video from a training session.

Strange what offends us.
I find that no matter how grusome, synthesized imagery has absolutely no affect on me. However, if I watch someone pull their toenail out, I cringe and shudder. The moral of the story is: people need to work harder at distinguishing reality and fantasy.

For the visual folks...
I've had some success illustrating the challenges of programming to the more visual or artistic types with this. Then you tell them to multiply that by tens of thousands, at least.

Robot "mule"

Re:Just remember . . . Martha Stewart was set up.
Martha Stewart can flambeau my flaky puffs any day. Can I get a woo woo?!

Couple of references
Here's a couple of websites that could help you out in the pursuit of managementspeak --> http://members.aol.com/matt999h/bullshit.htm and http://www.ebaumsworld.com/officespace.html. I don't mind folks using terminology for more efficient communication between true peers. But the clueless PHB's that employ the art of B.S. to mask their own incompetence is sadly typical and far too common.

Completely off-topic so I post anonymously... but seriously I found this 5 seconds before I read your post.
That guy should be your Web 2.0 excercise mascot.

Seriously...
This kid needs this new game.

Re:Yes and no...
I know a child psychologist working in this field. His research is pointing to something interesting, yet not earthshattering: children who play violent games outside the pervue of their parents *do* show a propensity for violent behavior. The flipside is that kids playing violent games *with* their parent's cursory involvement *do not*. This guy was ready to throw the book at games altogether, so the studies he's running came as quite the surprise, naturally.
So is that what this kid's problem is? He's not playing with his parents?
I'll buy that for a dollar. I think they would have cut him off a looonnnggg time ago. :) -
Re:Spam Spam Revolution
Actually, this guy is more impressive still. Way more than four buttons to push on this one.
-
Spam Spam Revolution
I wanna hire this guy to clean out my inbox!
As stupid as this whole idea is, it would probably be a lot healthier if people actually had to get up off their duffs to check their email. (StepUI also could end up appealing to another group: Couch potatoes looking for a way to lose some weight while still surfing the Internet) But in all honesty, even though there will be a whole following of DDR nerds who would swear by this, I think it will end up about as popular as a Dvorak keyboard.
Now if they ever find a way to hook up a Nintendo gun to shoot down spam, I'm all about that! -
It's probably an advanced version of:

Mario is still a youngin'
Just listen to the way he talks and is very obvious that he has not grown up.
He may look like an adult, but he is still a teenager at heart. -

Re:A day late and a dollar short?
This guy's house has been on ebaumsworld (he's the first two videos) for a while and he was on the Today show a month or so ago. Hmm, and about half an hour ago I saw it used in a Miller Light ad during the Atlanta/Tampa Bay game on FOX.

Re:The music is holding back the music business
Err... that link was supposed to be here. I've been having problems copying link locations since upgrading Firefox to 1.5. It seem like it sometimes tries to get the url of the first tab that was opened, or something wierd like that. Also had wierd problems using the keyboard in certain fields at times... for instance sometimes I can't type letters, sometimes the arrow keys don't navigate around. Sometimes both. But minimizing and then restoring seems to help sometimes. I've only really seen it on Slashdot and Google, but then again those are pretty much the only webistes I regularly enter info into.

It's the non Slashdot readers that need to be targetted with an "awareness campaign" about alternatives. Perhaps what the Linux community needs is advert time on TV. In fact, the folks behind Debian, Red Hat, SuSE, Gentoo, Slackware, and other Linux distros should consider pooling their resources and offering a couple hundred bucks to this sleazy looking fellow to perform in a Linux commercial similar to the one in the link below... /. reader dos not know of the alternatives. Actually I'd bet most of us has made up our minds and are more than willing to engage in a flame war to show our view.

Swearing Ability
I love the fact that swearing has much in common with music, and can be used almost musically. For example frequent swearing often has a staccato form, and for much of its effect lies on its "use" of cadence, similar to language, usually the perfect cadence, the resolution. Here is a a great example of staccato swearing form from the one and only Mr.Bergis, he has a gift. http://media.ebaumsworld.com/bergis-gayschool.mp3

Re:Those arn't real curses...
Sometimes people start to say a curse word but reconsider and say something worse, oddly enough. I'm sure we've all seen this.

Stella Awards
I actually read about that yesterday on a website which listed the Stella awards, so just now I tried to find that page again but instead I found a site which debunked this story and all the others:
