I give you a quick definition how homeopathy is supposed to work. But first get rid of the word potency. Go to http://dict.leo.org/ and enter the german word "Potenz" into the search field. The german : english translations should be self explaining. Short: 10^1 is the first "Potenz" of 10, 10^2 is the second "Potenz" of ten, and so on. A C1 solution is 10 times diluted of a C0. So it is "in der Potenz von 1" (in the "potent" of one") "Potenz " only means "Exponent". So C20 i not STRONGER but WEAKER than C10 and this by a factor of 10^10. Potent (in this sense) DOES NOT MEAN: Stronger! Or STRENGTH!

Homeopathy has 3 (or two, depending how you want to categorize) arms. First: natural medicine (not my fault your dicts don't cover that, I for my part only need to go to an Drug Store and pick a random "homeopathic" medical and look at the ingredients, so yes: essences of camomile are as well in the homeopathic section of the drug store as in the "modern" section). Lets start a therapy.

As your body reaction against "the substance" is the same as your body "should react" against the original illness, the thinking of the old homeopaths was: that reaction flashes out "the substance" and as well "the bad thing". What ever it was. To keep track and keep the stimulus but prevent to poison you (after all "the substance" was equally bad to you as the "bad thing") the dose is lowered.

How to lower the dose? Simple: move from C0 to C3 or C7 or C12. And after a week you go from C7 or C12 to C15 or C30.

Thats all. End of therapie. Hope it worked ...

Nope, I'm from Germany, and I have the exact same problem.

When I was in 12th class, I had some severe familiar problems, and dropped out. Since I loved computers and the Internet I self-taught me everything from web design over cracking software (I had no money, after all), up to hardcore Haskell physics and AI simulations, and even quite a bit of the CS theory behind it.

But without a Abitur, you can't get into an university.

So despite my friends all studying informatics or CS at the university, they all regularly ask me for help on the more advanced topics (like monads etc). Hell, most people drop out when having to learn Haskell anyway.

Yes, I'm very practical oriented, and lack CS theory depth. But that's the whole reason I want to study it in the first place!

So I'm stuck with having to do 13th (and part of 12th) class again in a generic evening school or something, for 5000€, over a couple of years, just to be allowed to study CS. With tons of pointless classes that I either already know, or will never need / care for.

I'm sorry, that's just not worth it. In that time I can do some awesome well-paid projects for my own small company, go out and meet girls, have fun, and generally live a awesome life. Plus since I'm a very good autodidact, I can just buy some good CS book, and read up until I'm better than everybody else. (Yes, actually I have done this "just like that" multiple times. I got my first two really good jobs because of skills learned that way.).

So this is my advice to the OP: Fuck that shit, and teach yourself (you will have to anyway, even at a university), since when you're your own boss, nobody cares about some silly sheet of paper representing a virtual pat on the back from some pseudo-authority.
All that's important, is that you yourself make sure, your skill surpasses that of people with the degrees and diplomas.

The word woman comes from the older wif "woman, female" + man "person", as mentioned on Merriam-Webster's page, among others. This use of wif is mirrored in the modern German word Weib , likewise meaning "woman".

FWIW, another example of the use of were to mean "male person" is wergild , and it may also be useful to note that were is essentially the same word as the Latin vir , whence we get very male modern English words like virile .

Yes, in case of family relations. However, basically any of your closer family qualifies as being your "Angehörige" - parents, spouse, siblings, children. Not all of those are necessarily your dependents. It really is more like your next of kin - you know, the people you want notified should something happen to you.

However, a few simple phrases in German do not indicate any level of proficiency let alone fluency in the German language as you claim to possess. I haven't made any claims about my knowledge of German, but I will let you know that it's more than sufficient to justify a good laugh at your expense, for thinking that a few utterances makes a linguist.

Mir ist es bereits passiert, dass ich "this" und "dies" verwechselt habe, weil sie einmal im Englischen und einmal im Deutschen das Gleiche bedeuten. Solche Fehler deckt keine automatische Fehlerkorrektur auf. Mit diesen muss ich leben.

"Ueber" can be taken as "over" as in "ueber die Bruecke" meaning "over the bridge" but it shouldn't be translated into English as "over" in this context because you aren't actually actually physically going "over" something. I don't know..depends on how you define literal inerpretation.
You _can_ translate it that way but it doesn't make sense; there are other "literal translations" that do make sense, for example:
"time spirit" ("spirit of time" was mentioned) would be as literal as "time ghost".
If you know Latin: "animus" captures the meaning of "Geist" very well (but animus has lots of meanings in Latin).

Or check this list of possible direct English translations of "Geist".
