Where to get BT pornTorrent Reactor has a good "Hardcore" selection
However, I usually end up searching for other porn sites and then get programs from Suprnova

innocent until caught
If it wasn't for services like Soulseek and Suprnova I probably wouldn't know half of the good music I know now. My policy is to download the music, evaluate it, and buy it if it's something I want to keep. Since the music I listen to rarely get any air time on the radio, I don't have much choice.. short of blindly wasting money on random CD's. And no, I don't believe that 30 second 32kbps/22khz mp3 previews does music any justice.
So well, it sucks to break the law, but as long as you can avoid getting prosecuted I believe the moral question is up to yourself: "Is what I'm doing wrong?". I mean, in my case the record industry is actually getting more money from me because I've got access to fileshare networks.
Eventually, the record industry will have to move with the flow.. I believe we'll see many more "iTunes sites" in the future.

Re:Forget DirecTV and Dish Network...
Good point. I've seriously considered this as well. There are only a few channels I watch (Comedy Central, HBO, and Showtime), and sometimes it's hard to justify paying over $80 a month for just a few channels.
More and more stuff is available by BitTorrent anyway at SuprNova, so I might just cancel my subscriptions altogether.
On the other hand, DiscoveryHD is pretty cool. -
Re:Going Gold
I then spent a couple of evenings on the net trying to find it. I had several files called GTA3.zip, and contained within them was a hockey game, an offroad game, and.. well I didn't recognize the name of it.
Godsdammit man, my mother can operate P2P software better than you can!
Here, let me help you learn the error of your ways (choose a pair):
eMule and ShareReactor or BitTorrent and SuprNova. -
Re:Wait a second
Please, remember to share all those DVDs with your friends... in fact, why not form "buying clubs" where each member obtains a different set of DVDs, then every week they pass them on to another member? And while we're at it, lets do this with movies, CDs, and games too!
Already been done: see Suprnova.
Yeah, so it has a loose definition of "friends"
... but they sure aren't your enemies! -
I'm bored, so I'll reformat it.
Here's the quality
Here is the site to get it from.
Here is the client you need.

Re:Not intended to be used for illegal distributio
BitTorrent is used extensively for distribution of new game demos and game/movie trailers. It is perfect for anything that has high first day demand. It is no more suited to illegal file trading than ftp, http or any other protocol.
They mention Suprnova in the article but not Filerush or any of the other hundreds of sites offering torrents of legally shared content. I mean torrents of media are posted all the time on
/. after hosting servers buckle under the strain. Why do people always jump on the infringing uses of software and try and make out like that is the whole story.
-
Torrent files and trackers not illegalBram seems surprised that sites like suprnova stay up, while all they are providing is a few tiny files with a load of checksums that nobody owns any rights over.
Even trackers are not doing anything illegal, as they are just collecting lists of people downloading the same file and provide this list to anyone who is interested (there's no illegal content there either).
The only illegal content comes from the users themselves, and its chopped in thousands of pieces, making them hard to identify.

Play the beta!
The beta has been out for a while... download it at suprnova (BitTorrent).

Click here http://www.suprnova.org/, click TV shows, then Other, and click on "The Office". -
Re:SCO being a member of United Linux...
-
SCO being a member of United Linux...
...is like Madonna running a mirror for suprnova.org, isn't it?
Or to put it another way, why would SCO join an organization designed to standardize the way in which their IP rights are violated?
Unless of course they have no IP claims to begin with. Which they don't. And we know that. And so did SCO, at one point in time.
I don't understand why that fact alone doesn't throw this whole case out. -
Re:P2P App recommendations?
Very simple.
Download the experimental Bittorrent client.
Go to Suprnova.org and check out what's new, or use Nova Search to look for something specific.
The advantages of Bittorent: swarmed downloads (if a lot of people are downloading something, the speeds increase); auto-verify downloaded pieces against a hash (no more fakes or poisoned files).
The disadvantages: easy as piss for other clients to get your IP (if you're worried about that sort of thing). -
Re:P2P App recommendations?
-
Easy.
-
lol
suprnova.org, thank you very much.
-
Where do you ... ?
Nobody asked this yet, and it amazes me.
Where do you guys fileshare?
I currently use SoulSeek and BitTorrent with SuprNova. -
I know for one that I have changed p2p app
As im sure alot of
/.'s are aware their is a program out there called Bittorrent.
My preferred client is Bittorrent++.
Now, if you like to download stuff in an environment that kinda reminds me of the ol audiogalaxy days I strongly recommend you try out Suprnova.org. Obviosly this is still subjective to riaa 'snooping' as the clients dont appear to support ip range banning, but since they are Open source, anyone can be free to implement any sort of riaa spoofing/protection.

Here Here
I have been getting all my games/movies/apps/music via the Internet for several years now. If you want to try for yourself just check out www.suprnova.org

Re:Internet TV Time
those without cable cant be too picky
;)
Sure you can. Pretty much any TV actually worth watching (and a lot that isn't) is on the Net. -
Re:bummer
Nah, you can still find zero day screeners at Suprnova.org. I just saw Mystic River and Bad Santa a few weeks ago right here on my 'puter. The only way I could tell that they were screeners was every half hour or so, a line was on the bottom of the picture (completely unobtrusive) that said, "Screener only. Private property of Big Studio"

Re:Well crap. Help me with a new program
I've found that BitTorrent works the best in the dorm that I'm in - it takes longer for the downloads to start when compared to my DSL @ home, but once they do I routinely see 500-600 KB/s. Of course, if you're going to use bittorrent, make sure to check out www.suprnova.org, where you can find things like linux ISO's, and
..... stuff ;) -
pleanty of other optionsIt was just a means to an end. Alternatives abound, such as:
LimeWire (and other Gnutella clients)
SuprNova (and other BitTorrent indicies)
Earthstation 5
And many others, as well. -
Re:Idiotsplitting the file into 126 byte segments
Yeah, your average
.torrent file is about 15K (according to my OLDTORRENTS dir), so that's a lot of segments, a lot of bandwidth, and a lot more memory required to cache thousands upon thousands of torrents.DNS administrators will simply stop caching TXT records
It's more likely they'd patch their DNS servers to filter out only the suspect non-text TXT records, which means the torrents would have their SHA1 hashes dropped and would be useless.

Illicit activities on BitTorrent
I've never seen BT used for illicit activities
The Suprnova tracker network is used both for lawful and infringing purposes.

Nothing is better than bit torrent for piracy
-
Re:Benefitting from a crime...You can get a good idea of what media's popular by scrolling down this list of BitTorrents. Most of the time it's predictable what most people are drawn to (NEW and SHINY and MAINSTREAM!), but sometimes you'd be suprised what floats to the top.

-
Of course
If you're running a Bittorent Website you'll still be fine, as they only host the trackers, not the actual files.

Re:Season 1 DVD ?
Haven't you heard of SuprNova?
-
Emulator?Did Sega develop their own emulator for these ROMs, or are users instructed to use a particular existing one?
Myself, I find Gens to be the best (and it's open source, too). Makes me glad I hung on to all my old Sega CD games after mine up and died.
And lastly, what's a post without some piracy links? Over at www.suprnova.org there are torrents containing every Genesis game ever released in the US. Same for NES, SNES, and more.
The NES package of 700+ US titles is only 70 MB. Heh. Technology. It's funny.

Re:I'll review it if you just
Also not available on Suprnova, yet.

It's All About the Hearts and MindsBig media propaganda like this may work in a small sector of society, but it seems consumers are slightly unsatisfied with how the big media companies are handling things. And when the people aren't happy, economics dictates that they do what they have to do to get happy, in this case, pirate. I watch Survivor, all those pirate dudes love it there. Piracy is your friend. Now, I'm not condoning piracy, but the fact is, the corporations and the customers both have a responsibility to defend their respective positions, and to prevent the other power group from stealing too much control and upsetting the fragile and beautiful balance we call crapitalism. The system only works if both sides are doing their jobs, and that is:
Customers: Shop wisely. You are voting with your dollars. If you accept draconian DRM, you will NEVER get your freedom back. You must protect your individual rights by choosing the best product and not buying based solely on emotionally exciting advertising hype or getting pushed around by impotent corporate shortcuts to profitability.
Corporations: Adapt to the changing environment as you have always done. Listen to the customers and do everything possible to keep these informed consumers on your side. Search for innovative ways to improve your product, streamline your processes, and still make a REASONABLE amount of money. Stay alive to serve the customers tomorrow.
Here's a quick rundown of some of the main gripes consumers have with big media products today:
Things Wrong with Movies: Overpriced movies to match the overpriced snacks, Ben Affleck and J-Lo, crappy plots (which also may fall under the Ben Affleck category), $20+ million dollar salaries for actors which leads to increased ticket prices, irritating and useless copy-protection on DVDs, etc.
Things Wrong with Music: Overpriced CDs, Britney Spears, not enough money given to the artists, Britney Spears, generic one-hit wonder boy bands pushed like a cheap drug, Britney Spears, general refusal to adapt to the internet (thank Apple for what innovation there is there), etc.
Things Wrong with Satellite: Well, nothing.... We're just stealing that because we can.

Re:It does not appear to be free?
I'd reccomend poking around on Suprnova or other bittorrent sites. These sorts of things will tend to show up pretty soon. That's legal, but you don't get support from Redhat. I'm not certain whether this one gives you up2date like Redhat 9 does, but all updates are available, whether Redhat puts them in your face or not.

Review it yourself, bit torrent link!
The bit torrent link.
Personally I didn't enjoy the game that much, but try it yourself. For more good torrents, visit suprnova.org. -
Re:I've tried iRate...I've used iRATE on both WinXP and linux, and can tell you that the Java client sucks equally on both platforms. Still, I use it, because the player is integrated, and the music is Free & free, but most importantly, because collaborative filtering is much more convenient than wading through piles of major-label crap in stores, or on kazaa, gnutella, or suprnova, or on ShareReactor, or eMule's Jigle, etc.
This kind of "amazon-like" filtering will get a lot more popular in the future, IMO.

Download the ISOs now, for free
Torrents of the GPL ISOs are availabe at http://suprnova.org/. Search the front page for "Mandrake" and you'll find them (their location has changed a few times, so I won't post direct links).
The more people that jump on, the faster it'll be, so spread the word. These are the download editions and legal under the GPL, of course. You can check the md5sums against those posted in the earlier Slashdot article comments. -
Bit Torrent link
There is a Bit Torrent for this at Suprnova.org:

3) Follow these directions

Re:Bittorent?
Yep, I spent awhile trying to d/l it on theonering.net only to find out I could have got it through bittorrent a whole lot quicker. There are already 79 people seeding it over on suprnova. suprnova

Re:BitTorrentYep. Suprnova's TV Show section is almost as good as a Tivo (with global reception).

Re:Where's the content?
You obviously dont enjoy the freedom of hosting your own
website/s.
And maybe havent discovered the joys of suprnova and Bit Torrent.
Now I can watch movies, I never got round to seeing at the pictures, or movies that interest me but may not have got marvelous ratings.
There are also free, strictly legal movies available to watch from places if you look around. We have a small LAN i've set up at my home (I still live with my parents (Im a sad lonely geek)) so we share the broadband connection. My dad gets his kick from movieflix.com not really my cup of tea, but its there none the less.
Its not just about content either ... gone are the days of reconnecting 6 or 7 times before actually being able to browse the web.
Its also handy to be able to administer your box from work, or work from home (when not unemployed).
Besides in the UK, the cheapest Broadband is almost as cheap as the crappy dial up ISP's.
