Not compatible with Bioshock 2.
I can only hope this sort of thing is not planned to be incorporated into the multiplayer feature of Bioshock 2. It would cause no end of trouble: We can't all be Buck Raleigh now, can we?

squidward is an octopus
http://spongebob.wikia.com/wiki/Squidward_Tentacles
Development
Although his name is "Squid"ward, he is actually an octopus. This was stated in a 20 minute "behind the scenes" feature of The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie DVD with creator Stephen Hillenburg and a few voice actors. The following was quoted by Squidward's voice actor, Rodger Bumpass:
"I am Rodger Bumpass, and I play Squidward Tentacles. He's more of an adult, tries to be at least. He's an octopus, but they call him Squidward. I never understood. I guess Octoward just never worked for a name, though."
Also, in another feature on the DVD, entitled "The Case of the SpongeBob," Stephen Hillenburg quotes the following:
"This is Squidward the octopus." Later in the feature, he quotes, "It was easier for animation to draw him with six legs instead of eight." -

Re:Open Source Gaming
There is nothing stopping you from doing this, but I'd have to say: Making up a whole gaming system is hardly trivial or easy to accomplish, particularly trying to balance out all of the aspects of the game so that it is just complicated to keep smart people interested, letting folks of...er... lesser intellect to also enjoy the game in some aspect, and to keep the "arms race" under control so you don't have to introduce god-like creatures just to provide a minor challenge.
In the process of coming up with a game system like this, if it is good enough, it would also be worth a fair amount of money. So tell me.... how is somebody who comes up with this system going to be compensated for their effort and time for designing such a system? If you have put enough effort and have tested the gaming system enough that it is pretty well balanced that it can compete with the major role playing game systems, the siren call of commercial profits is hard to resist.
BTW, even if you could come up with a system like this that is fairly well balanced, the next trick is to somehow get the mindshare of the gaming public interested in the game enough to start creating other content for that gaming system. That isn't trivial either.
This said, if you are still not discouraged at this prospect and really want to create a collaboratively designed game based on the model of a GNU project, you can head over to Wikia and set up a wiki based on this concept or go to one of several other wiki hosting services including perhaps the Free Software Foundation and seeing if you might get support from them to help with hosting the servers.
I've seen other attempts to get something like this to work out. I had a friend of mine actually go through the effort on the commercial side and even got the basic rulebook published. While he did enjoy some minor commercial success, it was not a trivial thing to even go from published material and try to get the mindshare of enough players to be able to devote the full time effort it takes to get the game improving from that point on.
Seriously though, if you get past these obstacles and get even the fundamentals of a gaming system together that would work with open source principles and have something you think is worth the effort.... let me know! I might contribute to the effort as well.

Legal notice sent to Uncyclopedia
Apparently, this guy's lawyers can't take a joke (then again, no laywer can), Last year, Video Professor's legal department sent an email to Wikia, a wiki hosting company, concerning this article about John Scherer on Uncyclopedia, a satirical parody of WIkipedia. They requested removal of the article. However, the article in question and the pictures on it were used for the purposes of parody and humor and thus are likely protected under fair use. Instead of deleting the article, the community decided to take the opportunity to make fun of the lawsuit as well. The email sent to Wiki (and the associated drama) can be found here.

We now know that is yet another excuse to censor something. Saying it can spread malware. If Google really wanted to hit web sites where it hurt, just list microsoft.com and other Windows web sites as saying visiting them can spread malware.

The future of Wikipedia is uncertain
But in the past:
Wikitruth documented the corruption and scams and scandals that happened in Wikipedia. But it happened so much, and hardly anyone cared about it that Wikitruth had to quit. There was no point in continuing as people didn't care that Editors and Admins who claimed to have PHDs didn't actually have them, or that oversight abuse happened to remove evidence of corruption, etc.
Conservapedia, no I won't link to them, but they claimed Wikipedia was not a neutral POV but a liberal one, and created their own Conservative Wiki Encyclopedia.
Uncyclopedia was started after Wikipedia refused to host deleted facts and other nonsense section of their Wiki site, so many of us went to Uncyclopedia, and others went to Illogicpedia or Encyclopedia Dramatica or both or all three, etc. Even the humor sites seemed to be more accurate than Wikipedia and not as prone to politics, corruption, etc.
Wikipedia is good for WWE/TNA Wrestling facts, and Comic book and Sci Fi and Movie facts. That they do right, there is no bias, and a neutral point of view mostly. I find myself checking Wikipedia for comic books, movies, sci fi shows and movies, wrestling, and other things a real Encyclopedia won't cover but Wikipedia will.
I am not notable enough for a Wikipedia entry, nor are most people. I don't want a Wikipedia entry on me as I want to be a private citizen. I do a lot of open source writing on Uncyclopedia, Wikibooks, Wikipedia, Wikia sub-Wikis, etc. I might later on publish a few books when I get good enough to write them without community help, or I may release them to creative commons license on LegalTorrents instead and give them away for free. That might make me notable, but I don't think it would be notable enough for a Wikipedia entry. I am just one in 9 billion people trying to survive. I also do open source programming and help people fix their computers via home tech support for friends and relatives, like most Slashdot readers.

Re:I'm wondering if it degrades.
It's called Uncyclopedia.
http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Barack_Obama/old
"Blaraka Hussein Obama bin Laden (pronounced Bárockus Obomus) (born Baruch Seamus O'Bama to an Irish Catholic family in County Cork) won the 2008 presidential election in a historical milestone becoming the 44th half-white man elected to office. He is a well known terrorist who claims his god "Oprah" is commanding him to destroy America. He started out as the young shiningly optimistic upstart United States Senator from Illinois that went out to shake up Washington and change the system and the world for a brighter and better tomorrow. He is also not a Muslim (But even if he was a Muslim, speaking hypothetically of course, it would be just fine) . In 2008, Obama became the first African American (his dad was from Africa and his dad's baby mama came from America) to be president of the NRA and not be lynched by an angry mob in white robes holding torches, so you know he's one of the good ones. He brings hope and change and you know we can do it. By taking down the man, Barack will set the lower class working people free from economic oppression."

Re:Problems for anime fans with Linux
Touhou runs almost perfectly in Linux with Wine the last time I checked, which is almost every single day that I play Embodiment of Scarlet Devil (with the english patch, but japanese works too).
TIP: Run the game on a virtual Wine desktop! Switching windows causes this weird and annoying glitch where it seems like a button is stuck, and if it's on a virtual desktop the window won't technically lose focus.

It looks to me like you'd need more gas-manipulation punch to pull off the Scorcher; at minimum (3rd) caster level, it's a roughly 5 foot wide by 30 foot long damage zone but producing only a brief flash of singeing flame.. As it is, it looks more to me like a first-level Zann Esu style Inferno, with maybe 10 foot range but higher and more sustained damage delivery.

Balls, hollow balls, and spheres
Given that the sphere is, by definition, the surface of a ball, I wonder what the surface of a sphere is meant to be?
The inner surface or the outer surface?
In the world of things made of atoms, spheres don exits. Solid and hollow balls do. A solid ball has one surface, a topologic sphere, while a hollow ball is the volume between two concentric spheres, that is, a solid ball minus another solid ball. Just as an infinitely thin "curve" in a plane has a plot with thickness (an ultimately 3-dimensional deposit of ink on paper), a "sphere" in a 3-space has a plot with thickness, which I've called a hollow ball.

Limited user + EasyVPN
If you don't want to deal with the bugs the easiest way is to not allow them to get them in the first place. being a PC repairman I had this same problem with my dad, who frankly could tear up a Sherman tank with a toothbrush. Run them as a limited user and set up Comodo EasyVPN (with admin privileges of course) so you can install any software they might "need" and you should be good to go. Now the only time I have to go deal with my dad's computers is when he picks up a new piece of hardware like a camera.
Here is the link for the 32bit version of EasyVPN, they also have an x64 if like me you have moved past 32bit. Your family will love how you can "magically" install stuff without having to be there, and you'll love not having them tear up the PC when you're not around. A win/win in my book.
But in my experience trying to "educate" users is like pissing in the wind, bud. You see there is this thing called "social engineering" and the dancing bunny problem. You see they WANT to see the bunnies, and no matter how many times you say it's a trap! they will completely ignore you and go right ahead and do whatever they need to in order to see the bunnies. So as long as they are allowed admin rights then this will be your expression more often than not. Better to just be the "installer monkey" and keep them in a nice locked down limited user account.

Re:Hackers Diet FTW.
There is no such thing as "toning"; looking toned is simply displaying the muscle you have at a given fat level. It is harder for females to gain muscle mass for the reasons that you stated(i.e hormonal), but it doesn't change the fact that the same methods are followed, and the rate of strength adaptation follows a similar curve.
Most people, even the slim looking cardio "gym rat " females, could benefit from gaining some extra muscle mass. At the very least progression through novice levels of strength adaptation (which results in a corresponding gain in mass) is something everyone should strive to achieve. You look better, you're stronger, you feel better and you're healthier. Perhaps more relevant to this story, having more lean body mass means that your basal metabolic rate is higher and you burn more calories just by carrying the muscle than you would without.
Mark Rippetoe and Lon Kilgore have written extensively on this subject, and reading anything by them is extremely valuable in understanding strength training and it's benefits. I highly recommend Starting Strength (author's website here though some preliminary information sans physiological elaborations can be found on a user made wiki here) for everyone to read. It covers the physiological basis of strength training and a very straightforward way to approach it. -

Re:What about the player?
Music Player Daemon (mpd) has the right idea: separate the playing backend and the user interface. The result is an easily-interfaceable (many, many clients for all platforms, web, etc) and reliable player that rarely (never for me) crashes, and will continue to play even if X dies (which makes repairing X a little more enjoyable).
My favorite client is QMPDClient, which is cross-platform and has a good user interface for easily switching between the Library view (3-section Artist/Album/Songs), the Directories view (which shows the Music directory as a folder tree), and the Playlist view (for saving or loading playlists). The directory view is the big selling point for me, because I have my music folder well organized by genre, artist, album, but not necessarily well organized as far as ID3 tags go.

Re:How can sexism even be an issue in FOSS...
bizarre references to rape - no one except you brought up rape, and it's kind of inappropriate frankly
Maybe you didn't pay attention to the drama around this when it first happened, but I did, and there were references to rape. Here's one, for example: "talking about relieving women of their virginity casts women in a submissive role, with men in a dominant role, and brings up thoughts of oppression and (indirectly) rape." Also see the comments of the blog post I linked to for a couple more rape mentions.
The joke was not about religion, but about having sex with women who have not used his favourite text editor - he's comparing initiation into the rites of EMACS to having sex;
The whole "St. IGNUcius"/"Church of Emacs" thing is a giant joke about religion. Either this little bit is about religion like all of the rest of it, or it's rape humor. And don't try to say "nobody brought up rape". If you're reading it as actually about sex, then there's no way you can interpret 'sacred duty to "relieve them of their virginity"' as being about anything but rape.
RMS is simply trying to misdirect talking about religion because he's embarrassed about what he said.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha oh that's a good one. Stallman? Embarrased? The claim is ridiculous even at a glance, and it's even more ridiculous when you take into account that he has been doing the St. IGNUcius skit pretty much exactly the same, including the "Emacs virgins" thing for decades now (as the wiki you yourself linked to notes). And now he's supposed to be embarrassed about what he said like it's some new material he just worked in and he's secretly ashamed at all the people he's offended? Your lack of knowledge about a man you claim to know the secret true opinion of is rather impressive.
It was a silly sexist remark, but apparently he can't find it in himself to admit fault.
Oh drop the Internet psychologist bullshit. And "silly sexist remark"? Discrimination against half of humanity is hardly "silly". You seem to think "sexist" means "offends women with thin skin". It doesn't. Actual sexism is hardly something "silly", and lumping un-PC jokes into the same category as things like a business that makes it far harder for its female employees to advance than male ones, or a person who thinks contraception is a sin because the only reason women exist is to be good wives and mothers, is quite frankly disgusting. The continued devaluing of the word "sexism" by people who claim to be fighting it is baffling.
It's not big deal really, but I'd find it annoying if it was directed at me, and understand why others would too.
If you told these people they were just "annoyed" and that it's "not a big deal really", I think you'd find they're not so much in agreement with you as you think.
You're wrong with your idea of the facts about, well, everything here, and thus so are all of the conclusions you've made. Next time don't talk about things you're ignorant of like you're not.
-
Re:Actually, you're a good example of that.
What the hell.
What sort persecution complex do you have to have to spend your life compiling lists of anonymous people offending you on the internet?
http://geekfeminism.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Incidents
It should be pointed out that your 54 examles of how the FOSS community is packed full of misogyny includes many shining examples of the FOSS community being sexist, just from a quick look....Go daddies advertising campaign(nothing to do with FOSS)
A video game about a Fat Princess(nothing to do with FOSS)
Various companies employing "booth babes" because that's apparently evil(nothing to do with FOSS)
some tripe about a comic strip at defcon which had an airhead female character.(nothing to do with FOSS)
people getting sent copies of Maxim instead of some gaming mag(nothing to do with FOSS)
Some summit which apparently didn't get many women turning up (at least it is actually related to FOSS)
A shocking one about some guy in quebec killing a lot of women.(nothing to do with FOSS though)
Feminists getting pissed because dell tried to market to the large female demographic that likes pink.(nothing to do with FOSS)
Someone pissed that people didn't want to make a usenet group comp.women....because there's a comp.men group...(nothing to do with FOSS)are we seeing a bit of a theme yet?
There are some genuine "incidents" in there but they're swamped by bullshit.I'm not even through a third of them and most seem to have little or nothing to do with FOSS or they amount someone getting offended because some pathetic young/old men drew penises on his presentations or had his desktop background set to some random scantily clad female which of course means he hates women and thinks women can't do anything(honestly that seems to be the logic).
One troll gets his own "incident" even though he appears to be nobody of any import or anything to do with FOSS.
If this kind of trivial crap is what's keeping women out of FOSS then all I can say is "Toughen up".
You'll see more misanthropy, misogyny, misandry, every flavor of "ism" etc etc in pretty much any community.
There is plenty of sexism in the world, there is plenty of discrimination in the world but a social group based around "show us the code" where people can choose everything about how they present themselves isn't exactly the best place to look if you really want to get your days worth of righteous indignation.
