I thought that he had legally changed his last name to "Rowesoft" (hey, it's 6 in the morning, gimme a break), in which case I think it would be totally within his right to have his own name as his domain name....but I don't think he has a chance in this - I'm pretty sure this will just set a precedent that phonetics imitating corporations aren't allowed either.
Sage Francis and the Non-Prophets are going on a Fuck Clear Channel tour this year, so if you want to stick it to the man and listen to some damn good music at the same time, I highly suggest you hit it up.
I just watched that episode of Cowboy Bebop with the "Brain Dream" virtual reality system, which was really just a conspiracy by a cult that called itself SCRATCH and promised to turn your brain into electrical signals so you wouldn't need a body anymore. Turns out the Brain Dream was just a way to hypnotize users. Yikes.
Eventually, he says, everyone will want to be more tightly linked with computers, to enhance our memory and connections to other people.
Haven't there been studies that show people who use PDAs have worse memory than non-PDA-users? What happens is you just put names, phone numbers, e-mail address, etc. on your PDA, you forget about it and rely on that for all your information.
I used to drink coffee and a few caffeinated sodas every day. I decided I didn't like the fact that I was getting 3 hours of sleep and the color my teeth were turning due to the coffee. I stopped drinking coffee and caffeinated drinks a few months ago, and now my teeth are white and I can get anywhere from 7-9 hours of sleep every night.
I've been known to kick back some Dr. Pepper every once in awhile before a class I know is going to be hard not to sleep through, sure, but I mean caffeine isn't a hard drug, c'mon.
And here's a handy tip for dealing with headaches - take some Advil.
I wouldn't say a lot of this is mainstream (I mean nobody even knows who Dizzee Rascal or The Darkness are in the US even though they are huge in the UK)...the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Postal Service, and The Rapture are definitely not Top 40...
That said, my opinion is that the Rapture album was definitely the best album of the year. The Darkness are a little overrated though.
My uncle just bought my 10-year old cousin a portable DVD player with a 3-4 inch screen for 140 bucks. It plays any DVD, and you can also hook it up to a TV when you're on the road. Seems like a much better deal to me.
Are we even at the "wireless" step yet? I've had nothing but trouble with wireless networks...even ones where everything I bought was from the same vendor. Eventually one of my cards broke - I'm not trying wireless again until it becomes more reliable, less expensive, and there is more support for cards in Linux.
...would NOT want to carry money around on a smart card. Those things too easily altered/messed up. Case in point - my apartment complex uses smart cards to store money for the laundry machines (you recharge it with your credit or debit card at a machine) and one day mine inexplicably stopped working for some reason. 20 bucks down the drain. When I went to the office to get a replacement they said that the cards have been known to do that.
applied for a program at the NSA when we were in high school. She had to go to some secret military base a few times, take a lot of tests and stuff, and even had me as one of her background check people (getting asked questions by NSA people is kinda scary, esp. considering I'd already been arrested a few times by this point:)). Anyway, she got in, is now in college studying Mandarin, gets a free ride to her school, AND gets about 20 grand a year while in school. She also has a guaranteed job with the NSA for 5 years after she graduates, with her pay increasing on the normal government scale.
In class after class, students are encouraged to conduct almost all their research online, which means that books, magazines and other in-depth sources play a minimal role in their bibliographies.
This is ridiculous. Even at my high school, which is extremely tech-heavy, I was routinely told by teachers to do as much research as possible from books, periodicals, etc. instead of the Internet. The big problem with the Internet is reliability of information. I'm not saying Internet research doesn't have its place, but discounting books, encyclopedias, periodicals, etc. blows my mind.
I think by click he meant brief pause or stutter....but yeah, it's not that noticeable, and usually they're good at putting it right in between scenes. I'm sure newer/more expensive DVD players are better at glossing over it than older ones, but I have a pretty old one and it's not too bad.
But it's still better than the old days before dual-layer where you had to flip the disc midway through the movie, eh?
No, it's just that there are more of these realistic "war" games now then ever. I personally still enjoy shooting aliens with laser guns more than being in a war, and I consider myself more mature than my roommate who plays Call of Duty and listens to Linkin Park all day.
I heard some guy found one of these in a garbage can with a "defective" sticker on it. It worked just fine....although I don't think he could get the right drivers for it...
Maybe they could save us all a little time and release them straight to DVD instead of on TV first....If I remember correctly part of the reason they got cancelled was they gave it a shitty timeslot so nobody watched it.
I think it is implied that 32-bit CPU's will be dead for the desktop....not embedded systems. We can all agree that 32-bit will definitely still be quite useful, just not necessarily in the desktop, definitely not in the server, and maybe not even the laptop markets.
But one might argue this is a good thing for those of us "in the know", as it were, and still got to/get to see the prices (there's a post here somewhere with them). Now we're the only ones who know about them and thus they'll be less of a rush on those items!
But I agree with you, Best Buy is stupid.
But that won't stop me from getting a 120GB hard drive for 50 bucks.
Have you not learned this yet? Microsoft deliberately cripples it's products so you have to buy more. They could easily make Word have the spreadsheet capabilities of Excel, and the flowchart capabilities of Visio, etc., but they don't because they want you to buy more software.
That there can't be an accurate data representation of the data in the Library of Congress because THEY don't know how much stuff they have. My cousin worked there this past summer, and he said they still have a large portion of the basement filled up with (unorganized, mind you) stacks of CD's that they haven't even put into their database yet. Same goes for books. It'll be awhile until anybody knows how much data the LoC has.

It's almost as good as my synth.

I just moved to Sunnyvale, unaware of the zombie infestation.
I guess I should just stay in my apartment.

Did anyone else see the "more pictures of the championship"? They also had a RAP BATTLE, I assume in Dutch?
Chess-Boxing and Dutch rap battles at the same time.....my mind is officially blown.

Wait, so when two people disagree, it's impossible for one to be more right than the other?

was this quote about that one school:
In class after class, students are encouraged to conduct almost all their research online, which means that books, magazines and other in-depth sources play a minimal role in their bibliographies.

Maybe it's just my hatred of war in general...

Doesn't this only strengthen the link even more between open source and Communism (for idiots, I mean)?
