I know someone with 400 friends in his network on friendster. Yet he strongly claims to have never talked to any of these people. How in the world did these people end up on his list?
There should be some kind of requirements forcing you to somewhat communicate with these people, otherwise they should be off your list.
These social networks are giving "friends" a real bad definition.
I know of 3 people who sold their xbox in a span of about a year. The selection of games really haven't captured their attention. All 3 people are in their 20s.
The typical complaint is... there are no good RPG. Xbox put emphasis on games like halo, which for any fps belongs on a PC anyways.
Basically the general consensus is they are unhappy with xbox. Especially those giant controllers. The good games on xbox, are generally available on other consoles anyways. etc etc
I can't think of another game that markets cars better than Gran Turismo. Come on now, I consider myself a car fanatic and I have never heard of Nissan Skyline until the game came out.
Yep I paid top dollars for my ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB around the holidays. As soon as the new years came around, I saw the price of my card dip $100.
Now another month later I get this PCI Xpress news. Not to mention my card constantly get spotty graphics and overheat. I run open-cased too.
People who are saying SNK produced some of the best games of all time are just plain insane. They made great games, and they lasted thru so many bit wars. Hats off to SNK.
But given the technology of Neo Geo at the time and the price they were charging, the last thing we want to see is a street fighter clone. This machine should have destroyed the competition. Instead it didn't remotely come close.
The scaling effect was the most over utilized effect I have ever seen. A system with this advanced of a color palette was wasted with cartoon games everywhere using minimal colors. The marketing and finance team had to be on crack to charge 4x more than any other system at the time. It certainly wasn't even 2x better than SNES or genesis.
I am sorry but this guy would not be working in any other company in the world. 76 year old, how can you trust grandpa to make decisions about the future of a video game company. No wonder Nintendo is in the deep hole for years.
Just wait for Sony's PSP. Nintendo's handheld division will be up against some real competition.
If Mac wants to be serious about being a home OS, they need to figure out a way to release games before windows.
Linux will always have that server/unix advantage against windows. With Mac's unless you were ichatting or hooking up digital cameras 24x7, there's no reason to have one. Games would be a damn good area to improve.
I don't know why people think of a product as open source or not when doing deployment. Just think of it as linux or windows or mac or whatever the product is with whatever the feature you need.
How silly would it be to say to any manager, yeah... we're not deploying this because I can see the #includes and functions. That's essentially what people are saying, when they say no to open source.
I hate cheaters, but I hate laggy performance even more.
I know of a server admin who used to host a RTCW server back in the original release with RTCW when punkbusters didn't exist. He claims the ping times and average server ran fine on 1 gig of RAM. He later upgraded to 2 gigs.
Since the introduction of punkbusters, he has had numerous times when RAM would just randomly be used. Despite all the player's ping times looking normal, performance just didn't feel the same. Even myself as a player have to admit the game just feels slower on punkbuster servers.
When I bought Unreal 2003 my expectation was thru the roof. Two months later I find myself only using the game to test video cards.
I am sorry but this company milked the unreal series to the degree of no return. Not sure I can spend any more $$$ on another potential disappointing sequel.
Doom III and half life 2 demo... those should be ready by the year 3004. But that's still before the next Duke 3D which will be here in 4004.
Nintendo is what you call a typical japanese company. They will go down kamakazi style in console land before doing what Sega did.... becoming a direct console game publisher for PS2 and xbox. And wasting time and money making their own systems and programming libraries.
Nintendo should just split the company up and have a separate entity dedicated to console games, and leave the other handheld division alone.
By the end of this 64-bit battle, most players would have never tried metroid prime and other really good GC games. It's a real shame.
Like WinXP home and professional, there is a program out there (cough.. NTswitcher) which changes a couple registry settings and poof... home becomes identical to professional. As was the same with the windows 2000 series, I am pretty sure XP light is the same thing regardless of what M$ marketing saids.
I wanted so bad to get an arcade box of Mortal Kombat in my house.
Ever since I downloaded Mame and blasted "Fatality" off my subwoofer, it's been completely meaningless to want to invest in an arcades.
the names...
winix
uniwindows
linuows
microsnix
lindix

So I should be all set for the next 2 days until the next major security flaw is found.

I am going back to Nvidia.

A man shoots a bullet toward superman's chest, the bullet bounces off. No problem... I can buy that.
What I can't accept is, why is there no bullet holes in the shirt? Do superheroes wear some special brand? Study that...

I'll worry about my feelings after I can buy a robot to do all my house work.
Cause Doom III won't be out in 18 years either.
With the new Final Fantasy online released and Evercrack continuing forever, it's no surprise they stepped out.
Of course if Bill Gates was the final boss that 100 players can team up and attack, this game will be a sure hit even with ascii graphics.

Usually a movie is released at the peak of its series.
Southpark the movie came out, then it rode downhill ever since.
Transformers and GIJOE the movie did the same thing.
Is this the end of the simpsons coming? I can't think of any instance when movies were released and the show continue riding sky high afterwards.

Is it me or do new companies pop out of nowhere to advertise their future space ideas 20 years from now everytime NASA does something good TODAY.

I need a fibre comcast connection to my house, not a 20ghz processor from intel.

The key formula IMHO in any fighting game is the pace. Whether you have a million moves or 10 moves, pace makes a big difference.
I have yet to see a 3D game pump polygons faster than the marvel vs capcom series. EA better know what they are doing.
This new game better be along the lines of Marvel vs. Capcom 3. It's gotta be of that quality for my money to swing that direction.
I have a friend who's an xbox freak. He cancelled his subscription due to some very long term traveling overseas.
He battled with M$ support nearly an entire month before they would stop charging him. No, he never got a refund.
When I read this post it reminds me of the same type of BS. Since I am a PS2 owner, I have no idea how all these xbox-live subscription really goes.
It's a conspiracy and a half, there was no code stolen. The reasons why it was delayed.
1.) The game is waiting longer, so the video card prices will drop lower. Same with CPU prices really.
2.) There are too many bugs anyways, so they need time to fix it.
3.) They need to test how mods fit into the out-of-the-box engine.
4.) They don't want it available in Christmas 2003, cause a million deals later, this will have this game selling for $29.99 by Christmas day.
5.) Directx9a and 9b caused a lot of confusion in 2003. Not the best time to launch a game that tests the water.
