all of the issues you have described sans the change of desktop to game resolution are apparently only you. I personally have never had these issues of course I'm one of those crazy people who read the packaging before I buy a game... and if it says "4 GB RAM" and I only have 2 I don't try to force feed the game down my machines throat. I politely put the game back down and go home. Wait a few months until I have the money to afford the upgrades that I need. Considering that my machine is near 5 years old. Upgrade the component and then go find the game only this time in the bargain bin for 15$ instead of $60.
The stuttering that you are talking about is because you are trying to run the game at settings that the developer made for the game that only the absolute top of the line machine can handle.
When quitting a game if you have all of your icons/windows bound to a corner of the screen... Try checking your settings... as this absolutely should not happen. If it does maybe you should go look for a patch for the game you are playing or update your drivers.
I have played a number of both 3D and 2D games that always and I mean ALWAYS run stunningly.
oh yeah and finally... KILL YOUR AIM/use the AWAY message so that it doesn't pop a window up, I know really... I have to do things to make my machine behave the way I want it to... WAH... get Xfire, or trillian and shut the Notify and open new windows off on trill. Xfire will solve most of your issues. Especially with the Xfire Plus pack that is being developed that will let you message people while in game.
Yeah I know I can't use that word cause I'm one O' them derned registered thinking republicans. Why is it that we have a staggered primary. I am here in Pennsylvania and am registered to vote, so that I can vote in the primaries. But at this point I have no say in who the party that I had to choose. ((Since I have nothing in common with the Democratic wing of our exceptionally broken political system))
This is the epitome of being disenfranchised. Sure I can vote but my vote has absolutely no effect on the outcome of this primary. I am personally one of the few who believes that our primaries should be ALL on the same day. Course that would only make sense to me aparently.
I really just want a voice in what my party does. Not some of this stupid, oh well it's all fair to the states deals. I'm not one of these people who thinks that the electoral college doesn't belong because it does. This isn't a MOB RULES country it's a Representative Republic. Look it up people this is not a Full Democracy.
But then that probably doesn't matter to anyone any way... and I'm probably speaking to the breaze here since this topic is a few days old.
Well to be honest this is where HD-DVD already has the advantage, there are Automobile(Car) players already out for HD-DVD, not to mention that HD-DVD is a completed hardware spec. Unlike Blu-Ray, where now people who early adopted to use the new features unless they got the cheap Blu-Ray player in the PS3, have no way to use the new features like the Internet, PiP and other features being released in BluSpec 2.0.
Personally if companies and the main players in this war started pointing out that people could have saved ALOT of money by going with the completed spec then there would be less complaints from those who are already HD-DVD adopters. But as was pointed out don't discount Parents. The minute they find out that they can get a car with an integrated HD-DVD player guess what they are gonna seriously think about getting. Kids will not notice the difference in the Cartoon movies, but they verywell may when they start watching things like Transformers or something else live action.
Nintendo actually wasn't wrong and still aren't wrong when it came to their solid state cartridges, at least not in the way that one should look at such a thing. Honestly, if I look at the speed that the DS takes to load up and the offload of the memory I can easily see that an SD card is as fast or much faster than bluray and can go up to what now, 4GB, that is solid state memory, had Sony not forced the hand of nintendo to go with the gamecube we easily could be playing our games on Flashmemory chips, SD cards, or better and be playing them with less loading time and more space.
But due to sony looking at the new media darling known as the CD-ROM being the next best thing since sliced bread they didn't take into account that a newer faster technology could come out that would keep the price of console game production down and would keep the time between things, noise, and energy costs to read from said medium down as well. The wii finally saving things to an SD card is ingenious and I believe could start another revolution to move away from optical media again, and allow us to get back to the much safer solid state mediums, as then we don't have to worry about scratching our discs..
But hey this is just one mans opinion when it comes to the whole gaming media
Am I the only one to notice they are in Chronological order, so the newest must merely be the best...
Atari 2600, SNES, N64, PS2, X360... Hmmm maybe they just asked people which controller was their favorite from each generation and compiled it that way assuming that the controls from the current generation are the best that there are... maybe they are wrong, I know a number of people who would say the dual shock is the cream of the crop, I would have to disagree with them my personal fav is the Wavebird, the placement of the Analog sticks was just right for me, honestly the first analog stick should have replaced the Dpad on the dualshock as it did on the Cube controller and further the Wavebird.
But that's an argument that will be had many a time, but the fact that while they may have said that it is the best of all times, I think that is because of the way they ordered the controllers, in fact I would have rated the controllers they chose to use in a slightly different order
1. Dual Shock
2. X-360
3. SNES
4. N64
5. Atari
but in anycase that could just be me so meh *shrugs*
Whoa whoa whoa there joshie, what you are going on about here is a bit over board here, first 400$ on the system would be bloody rediculous and if you did so then you deserve this shock.
Next so what if nintendo releases something that does a little bit more, note A LITTLE BIT, you bought a 250$ system that came with a game SANS the classic nintendo systems, what does this mean, you pretty much paid 200$ for the system, great, so they add in a DVD/HD DVD/BluRay PLAYER and an HDMI out on it and drop it for 300$ with no game, guess what, they can do that... it's called an upgrade for a reason, they aren't releasing a NEXT GEN system in 2-3 years, they are releasing another revision of the system, that your CONTROLLERS AND GAMES will still work on, so that they can add in a few features that may have prevented a few people from buying it in the first place, but to me it seems like you aren't going to be satisfied no matter what nintendo does.
What I would be more pissed at is that in the 5 year cycle of the other systems, that you just paid 500-600$ for that you are only getting 5 years out of them, consider that in 2-3 years Nintendo is going to release a slight upgrade, that means that you have paid 100$ a year for a system that added a completely new interface, where as the other systems seem to be charging you 500-600$ for the same thing revised with prettier graphics.
My Sony FWD40LX1 would take exception to that... she is a 40 inch LCD screen beauty and hooks up to my Radeon X1600 Pro via a DVI-D port and runs at some pretty smooth resolutions... Half-Life 2 look samazing and GTR 2 answers all questions ever posed by the... "Why aren't you playing Gran Turismo" crowd...
$10 for 5 Chapters of gameplay...
I think you are kidding yourself, honestly when was the last time that you could find a decent game for 10$ that wasn't bargain bin.
Don't answer that because it just doesn't happen...
$20 for a third of a Half-Life 3(alright 2.5)... sounds decent... that's a third of the price for the full game for a third of the content... a Five chapter book for 20$ when the full 15 chapter book was about 60. Guess what... it's the SAME PRICE...
and all the fanboys (Including me) go Wii Wii Wii all the way home...
I can't believe this... They should have just went with the "Leak" that was at least a semi-pun... Nintendo Go... there was som much more that they could have played on with it...
Lets see the progression here though...
Revolution: Code Name, Powerful, Descriptive...
Go: "Leaked" Name, not real but a play on words.. sounds like Go, is Japanese for 5 symbolizing that it was Nintendo's 5th system, but giving it a different way of naming than the PS or XBox crowd by still using words and no numbers...
Wii... Wii...: well what can I say... it's atrocious, and is prolly going to hold the Kiddie notion of the system together so hey... I say a grassroots movement, we all just call it and ask for a Revolution/Go system and or games when referring to the Wii...
So why exactally did you buy a new HP main board... there are many other better options for main boards out there that cost significantly less, a parts list should list for less than what the original product cost... I am not saying a replacement part list but a general list of the parts...
A part list for the PS3 is going to add up to more than what people could get the part for and if it doesn't then Sony IS selling at a loss... you can get new part prices that are about the same and for the PS3 that cost is huge...
So you have actually played the DnD Online.
The groups don't need to be huge, usually a group of about 3-4 PC's of the quests level plus one of the next level up... and I played for 3-4 hours a night while my test machine was running and had no problem finding groups when I wanted them. The LFG option is a good one. My only problem with the game is that I am going to have to pay to play after the release date... I had a few problems during the beta but nothing to huge.
The balance of characters is very good. The only down side was the fact that you almost always needed a Rogue for all the traps. Someone needs to think that one through.
A few of the side quests were a pain though like the friggin boss parts of the Sewer Quest part III. now I'm not quite sure I liked the leveling scheme but that is something that I may find out more about once I get into the game better. I just hope that the world expands for some more outdoor quests ontop of everything else. And maybe even adding in a jobs function much like that in the old SW:Galaxies, for those that want to do something like that.
Oh oh you didn't read apparently the PS3 is supposed to be a 15 - 20 year console thus all the extra ports on the back and the Foreman-esque design... So after 15-20 years you aren't gonna wanna play final fantasy again are you...
We like where your new controller design is headed, and we would like to let you know that there is a boat load of money that is awaiting you when you sell us your mini CD rights and the rights to this new innovation so that we can add it to our already prosperous X-Box system.
Alrigth well if you think the second screen hasn't been used well how about Ridge Racer... or better yet meteos... being able to see how you're opponent is doing is a pretty good use if you ask me... or then there is Feel the Magic XX/XY they used the top screen pretty well there too...
Wasn't the uber-expensive 3DO supposed to have an overly long life cycle, wasn't it so hardware intensive that it was overly expensive. Wasn't it supposed to have all the Hardware that someone would need for the rest of their lives... Where is my 3DO anyway???
Now I realize that you guys may not have read them lately and I don't know how good of a source that they are but I am posting patents that were updated earlier this year. That is talk about what is commonly referred to as Cube Mapping.
If my understanding of what they are doing is correct then it should require less processing power, which in turn would require less Physical Power to produce the same quality or higher graphics with less processing power.
Yes this is all old news but Nintendo has refiled this patent as of 04 meaning that even though they use images from the Gamecube that this is going to be used for the revolution or maybe a future developed console.
They also filed the Bump Map Patent again hopefully this will also remove some of the requirements on the processor and GPU but until the systems are all released we will have to sit back and wait to see how it all plays out.
For like the past week or so I pesonally see that yes graphics are just about to the Picture quality that I see on a regular basis so really how much further can we go... I can see very little difference between what I recently played in Like Tony Hawk UG2 and like what was shown for the X360 and well I would say that there is alot going on with the PS3 but those were Pre-Rendered and weren't even running on their new GPU.
Recently I have been noticing that the gameplay is going stale I dunno maybe it's just what is what sells here in the US or maybe it is just a general lack of creativity. Sure the box is pretty but how is the ring inside of it. Half-Life 2 for example had an attempt at a story line but it wasn't quite finished and wasn't quite what I expected.
Now recently I have played a few games that have good storylines but most of those have been RPG's or old games brought back to life. What we need is some fresh blood in the development houses. Heck Heroes of Might and Magic was one of the last games that had an involved storyline that I played. Maybe I'm just nostalgic but I think that things are just getting boring. I like shooting things as a it's after work and I wanna shoot things for a while to blow off steam. But for the weekends when I have a few hours I want an immersive storylined game that will draw me in for those hours. Something that makes me wanna go 5 more minutes dear.
I like games where I can play for hours but like playing for hours like well Half-Life 2 sure it's still only 15 HOURS... but none the less it left me groping for more...
OOOOHHHH loook a "Fan-Fucking-tastic" scardey shit... worried about his Karma Rating maybe you shouldn't use your catch pharse coward...
Get over yourself and go back to Trolling...
