Re:But if the box says "no transfers"...
Therefore, I would like law and/or jurisprudence to come down and state "There was no negotiation, and therefore, no agreement could have been entered into".
That should be a no-brainer, super-low bar.
You don't go far enough, though. It's hard for anyone to take seriously that "terms printed on the box" are the same as terms of the sale. There are lots of things printed on the box, such as the fact that Luke Skywalker is the galaxy's last hope or that Arnold is The Terminator. Did you agree to those things, too?
Not to mention that you buy plenty of things before ever seeing the box.
You don't ever signal your agreement, you don't ever communicate your agreement, and the other party doesn't even have any evidence that you agreed. All they can do is pretend to have inferred it. "You bought it, so we assume you ended up agreeing to it."
The type of "contract" that we're talking about here, would only ever be attempted by a criminal who had fraudulent intent. There are not any legitimate uses for "now that you've bought it, let me tell you more about what you agreed to."
I have worked at a software company where we got customers to actually sign contracts at the time they handed us the check, and then that contract was stored in our file cabinet. It's a totally viable way to do business and I got a couple decades of paychecks out of it. If today's media and software companies can't make it work for them, that's their problem and we shouldn't tolerate them acting like criminals all simply because "it's too hard to get agreement prior to the sale." Boo hoo!
These terms are bullshit and any company trying to defraid people with them, should be treated as what they are. A legitimate business wouldn't ever do anything even like that, ever.
And yes, also, you didn't get to negotiate. Or rather, you didn't decide when you were negotiating. Sounds like they somehow sent you a piece of paper but never had you sign it and return it, yes? You know, you could mail them your terms, too. No, they probably won't sign them and send them back, but their argument is that such things aren't needed. Terms-agreement isn't an interactive process, according to them.
If they can negotiate terms after the sale, so can you. If they claim that "negotiation" consists of telling (usually obscurely and/or indirectly) the other person the terms and not taking no for an answer -- actually, not even ever getting an answer at all -- why can't you?
Once you open the doors to absolutely unsupported bullshit that is totally unlike all other contract negotiations, anything goes. When a bully unilaterally changes the rules to "there are no rules" right before punching you, they shouldn't be surprised to end up with a bloody nose too.

My BLU hasn't patched KRACK yet
I've had a Blu Vivo 6 for a fraction over a year now (bought on Black Friday 2016 - its actual release day here in the UK) and there's not been a *single* update for it (not even a minor one).
I'm still waiting for BLU to patch the KRACK vulnerability on my phone.
I got a BLU Advance phone for $75 on Amazon. Nice phone, dual SIM, 5.5", 64GB SD card expansion, Android Marshmallow. This just this past summer (just before Amazon took them off the market for leaking data to China).
For the longest time, it bugged me to update the OS, but I thought: "It works. Why update and risk installing crapware?"
Then KRACK happened. And my BLU phone was still asking to be updated.
I saw that the date of the update predated the discovery of KRACK, so I knew that if I updated, it would not protect from KRACK. However, no other update was available, and eventually I figured that perhaps my failing to install a previous update was preventing a newer update from happening.
So, reluctantly, I updated. Immediate regret. First, after updating, there was no other update available. I didn't get to shield my phone from KRACK, and I'm still waiting for an available update.
Second, it installed this new BLU app that kept telling me to register, and also showed me some "great deals!" on services and things I can pay for. Umm, no thanks.
Third, it messed up my keyboard. The BLU phone originally came with this decent swipe keyboard, not just the standard one that came with Google. That disappeared, and it took a whole week for me to figure out that I wanted to install the TouchPal keyboard app, and another week of hesitation while I read reviews about the keyboard app showing intrusive advertisements, and finally I figured out that I could install the "TouchPal For HTC" app that would work equally well but not have the ads. Apparently it still wasn't the same version as previously, as there were a few glitches (e.g. holding down the N key defaults to the letter with a foreign diacritical, not the question mark which is far more commonly used).
So, for my troubles of agreeing to upgrade, I got: no KRACK protection, ads, and a decline in keyboard function.
No thanks, BLU. Can anyone tell me if CyanogenMod or whatever jailbreak is compatible with the BLU phones?

Re:aka
Here is a great explanation of how the financial industry looks at Bitcoin. What is not explained is how the exchanges will deal with limit moves, but the contracts are relatively small. If Bitcoin goes up, they will probably reduce the amount of Bitcoin per contract. The power demand curve doesn't look good either considering the the amount of electricity consumed by Bitcoin mining.
I would not be too surprised to see Bitcoin go to $50,000 or $100,000 per coin. But in 5 years it will probably be worth less than $100. Then someone will add a chapter to this book. -

Re: HFCS
If you are a true skeptic, a true seeker of truth, you need to read "Case for Christ" https://www.amazon.com/Case-Ch...
I personally found "A Case For Christ" to be really weak, overall. I think that any attempt to "prove" the validity of Christianity is pretty misguided, actually, and will always be doomed to failure.
That said, I consider myself a Christian, and I'm a "practicing" one by many of the definitions you might care to use. I just find it kind of silly to expend so much effort on establishing historicity of anything in particular from scripture. It's comparable to arguing about whether there really was a good Samaritan, for instance - the point of the parable wasn't the historicity of Samaritans or a particular guy who helped someone, it was the moral meaning, which doesn't change at all if the story is fictional.

Re:There's no way in hell
it's a good thing for a single person to command that much wealth.
The total net worth of all Americans is about $90 trillion. $100 billion is less than 0.1% of that. John Rockefeller once owned 2% of all the wealth in America, so Bezos is 20-fold poorer.
A democracy can't survive that kind of power imbalance.
That would be a concern if all "the rich" were on the same side. They aren't. Jeff Bezos owns the Washington Post. The WaPo exposed Roy Moore's sexploits, and has championed other liberal causes. This cancels out the Koch Brothers.
Something's got to give.
"The rich" have had undue influence for at least the last 10,000 years (wealth accumulation mostly coincided with the invention of agriculture). Yet somehow we have muddled through.

Re:Save a life, or comply with rules and regulatioWrong. There is a right answer: Everyone without a medical reason must be vaccinated. The government should eliminate any bullcrap 'religious' or 'cultural' excuses for not vaccinating their children.
Those who refuse to vaccinate their children should be fined, and in extreme cases have their medically endangered children removed from their household by Child Protective Services, no different from those who eschew medical treatment because 'gods will be done', and let their children DIE rather than getting appropriate and necessary medical attention.
Yes, children have the right to not be abused OR NEGLECTED by their parents. That right to not be medically neglected includes the right to be vaccinated against common disease vectors.
Yes, this is a proper role for government - to protect the interests of SOCIETY AS A WHOLE from those who would threaten harm to that society for their own selfish ends. That is, essentially, the fundamental purpose of government.
You do understand the epidemiological paradigm of 'herd immunity', right?

Re: HFCS
First off, I generally agree with your post, with the exception of point one. I find it highly ironic that you later quote that very book (Mathew 5:7 Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend's eye.)
Your assumption is predicated on the false narrative propagated by the God haters that belief in the Bible is blind faith. While is it certainly true that many people do blindly believe (and by the way, blindly believing that one should love every person as they love themselves, being faithful to their spouse, not stealing, lying or murdering are hardly things to be scorned) not all believers have blind faith, many have reasoned faith. There are many of us that have arrived at our faith through skeptical investigation. If you are a true skeptic, a true seeker of truth, you need to read "Case for Christ" https://www.amazon.com/Case-Ch...
If you chose to continue in your bigoted ignorance, just be aware that it is your personal choice and not a reflection on the reality of the matter. -
