I would like credit issuers to have a due diligence responsibility. A SSN and a few other personal identifying pieces of info is not a 'confidential key' that they should be using to grant credit. It shouldn't be possible for identity thieves to attain such value from such information.

The SSNs of all citizens should be a matter of public record.

WRONG!

The SSNs should STOP BEING USED FOR IDENTIFICATION. They really aren't SUPPOSED to be; but every single damned database seems to think it MUST store an SSN, and every single Utility, Credit Card co, etc, seems to think that it is the best thing since the invention of the birthdate for IDENTIFICATION.

In fact, my original SS Card said in big, bold red letters a the bottom: "For Social Security and Income Tax Purposes Only - Not For Identification". See Question 21 in this FAQ. What's curious is that they apparently didn't bother to actually change the SS CODE, so SSNs are still NOT supposed to be used for Identification, period!

Here's a dirty little secret about SSN's. They were never intended to be used as unique identifiers. In fact, it says on the card For social security only, not to be used for identification. Even more, they are not secure in the least, up until recently you could get the first 3-5 numbers just by knowing a little bit about the person, see ID by state of issue, and it's pretty simple to identify the group number as well. Last 4? those were sequential. Basically, they were never designed to be secure, and now we have to treat them as such. Better keep your birthplace/birthday secret too.

Bit of advice: When shooting at targets in the air, hunters generally use a shotgun, IE a smoothbore firearm loaded with little balls of lead or bismuth* alloys. In any case, shotguns loaded with shot are hazardous for far shorter distances, which is why you're allowed to fire them into the air.

Given that they were hunting pigeons, shooting at the drone with a rifle would require the 'dipshit' to go back to his vehicle or building and retrieve a rifle, and it's a tough shot.

It's far more likely many of the hunters 'donated' a shot or two at the drone with their pigeon guns. Pigeons relatively small birds, a commonly recommended size is #7.5. As Dick Cheney so ably demonstrated while hunting quail using the same #7.5 shot you'd expect for pigeon, you can easily survive being shot in the face with it merely 30 yards away.

Given the way the protestors tend to operate, I can fully believe them going 'closer! closer! to the point that the drone ends up within easy range** even for short range shot. Then it's just a matter of a 'lucky hit', which isn't hard when each shot is tossing ~250 pellets at the target.

**With this type of shot, it's more a question of penetration at range than the hitting itself. If they're not doing enough damage, I'd imagine that a few might of had some shells loaded with larger pellets, perhaps #4-5, which would have more energy out that far, at the expense of fewer balls.

That's a very bad thing. It's a long standing principle in British and American jurisprudence, all the way back to the 1600s, that juries do not have to justify their verdicts and cannot be held accountable for them.

Unbearable Phantom Pain A good-looking man who had lost both of his legs in Vietnam was brought to me in a wheelchair. No one had been able to help with the pain at the end of where his right foot had been. He vividly recalled the scene of stepping on a land mine and watching the bones and flesh of his right foot explode into pieces. The pain he now had was massive. The sensations were so similar to the original shock that he could never get relief from the traumatic memories. The relentless pain also led to terrible nightmares. His left foor wasn't as painful. His kidney and liver meridians were also involved, and I held those points as well. ... By the time I had finished holding his liver points, he was pain free. I showed the friend, who lived with him, how to hold points and which points to hold. The man and his friend never returned, but on my invitation they called me about once a month. The friend told me that after the session, the manbegan to lift out of his deep depression. While the phantom pain would return every now and then, they knew how to deal with it.

For the record, I absolutely love my country, which is why I can't stand the direction it is going, especially since the coup back in 1913 when the private banking cartel managed to take over the country for real. Perhaps if you don't feel like you're being censored, it's because your views are more mainstream than mine. I left for China, coincidentally, the day after the US invaded Iraq. Leading up to that I was working for Gateway and traveling to South Dakota every week, along with other people involved in the same CRM project. It literally got to the point where I just wouldn't open my mouth because I had to continue working with those people and the looks of hatred that came along with the verbal abuse and labels of "anti-American" "why don't you move back overseas if you don't like it" etc. were quite startling. Before that, I was just a kooky oddball who was always spouting off during flu season about mercury and monkey viruses in vaccines, the fact that fluoride in water is a really bad idea discovered by the Nazis, etc. which got me curious looks, but nothing like the wrath I felt before leaving.

My comment about feeling freer to express myself here in China has a lot to do with finding sympathetic ears when I bemoan US imperialism. However, most Chinese I talk to are buying into all I oppose hook, line and sinker. I do my best to get people to investigate things for themselves instead of just swallowing it down whole, same as I do in the US. Of course there are real limits to my freedoms here, and I am certainly much freer than most Chinese people who can't even travel outside the country except in large groups. It isn't as though I like the Chinese government better, but at least Chinese people don't go around bragging about how "free" they are. Look around you and you will find others there in the US who feel the same way about what's happening, only the might not speak out because they are tired of being called "un-American".

... the crazier Jack Thompson seems to be. Apparently he ran against Janet Reno for the Office of Dade County State Attorney back in 88. He made some pretty ridiculous claims, including that Janet Reno uses call girls. He's also gotten in an e-mail flamewar with a 14-year old, and his quips make the youngster look like Socrates by comparison.

I hope if the mainstream media begins to give Jack Thompson air time, since he is fast becoming a "celebrity", these past deeds are brought up. To ignore them does not accurately portray his real character.

Isn't it common knowledge that the first moon landing was a fake?!?

I for one believe, that would be the only logical explanation as to why it would take so long to do it for real this time and how they could do it so quickly 40 years ago.

Good to see that NASA are finally planning to actually send a man to the Moon. It's been way overdue for years now.

If we can't have a base in the moon how can we expect to travel (someday) to other planets? It's as useless going to the moon as it was crossing the ocean back in 14XX (even if there will be no indians to rape or natural treasures to steal). It will be cool when men finally get to the moon... :)
