Re:don't data centers have poor gps signals and ha
I think the idea is to track it when it leaves the building
I don't know. The first thing I thought of when I saw the headline was this guy. I used to think it was funny, but these days I'm getting dangerously close to it myself. if I could just tag all the different power-supplies I have in the house it would be a start. It would be great to go to the hard-drive pile and easily pick out the one that actually corresponds to "used to be stuffed in the beige Sempron box I used as a firewall back in 2005".

Re:It's not open source
You're doing it wrong. From http://bash.org/?152037:
#152037 +(3036)- [X]
<dm> I discovered that you'd never get an answer to a problem from Linux Gurus by asking. You have to troll in order for someone to help you with a Linux problem.
<dm> For example, I didn't know how to find files by contents and the man pages were way too confusing. What did I do? I knew from experience that if I just asked, I'd be told to read the man pages even though it was too hard for me.
<dm> Instead, I did what works. Trolling. By stating that Linux sucked because it was so hard to find a file compared to Windows, I got every self-described Linux Guru around the world coming to my aid. They gave me examples after examples of different ways to do it. All this in order to prove to everyone that Linux was better.
* ion has quit IRC (Ping timeout)
<dm> brings a tear to my eye... :') so true..
<dm> So if you're starting out Linux, I advise you to use the same method as I did to get help. Start the sentence with "Linux is gay because it can't do XXX like Windows can". You will have PhDs running to tell you how to solve your problems.
<dm> this person must be a kindred spirit of mineHaha, oh, man, that is the best idea ever. I will so use that. Thank you!

Re:Why so discriminating?
It helps to know what the quote was. Searching for "saddle" gets it right away.
"Numbers 22:21 -- And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab."

Actually, I usually insert an R into that. I'll leave it to you to figure out where.
On a serious note, Khan Academy is wonderful. I only wish the content could be organized in a prerequisite manner across different topics (e.g. basic algebra before calculus, etc.). I guess I'll check the issue tracker, and maybe even send a patch or two

Re:Ozzy osbourne, marilyn manson. the 'scare'
At least MM actually has meaningful (even if the meaning is twisted) lyrics. I tried asking someone the lyrics to some of Ms Gaga's (sorry. only two types of women can be called lady, those with class and those who have a title) songs and they looked embarrassed when they started singing non-sense.
I used to be annoyed with MM that his music was just a wanna-be NIN, but as a good bash quote will point out, would you rather a new band sound like something you enjoy or sound like nickelback?

Re:But, but, but,,,
Yeah, agreed. Lending still doesn't capture the flexibility of it. File sharing is exactly like... file sharing. It's not hard to understand, though even some file sharers don't get it.

Re:Solution?
I really don't get all the fuss over MPG or Gallons per 100 miles. It's six of one, half a dozen of the other as far as I'm concerned.
I was making the assumption that both hypothetical guys are doing the same mileage over a given time.
It makes all the difference in the world, like you pointed out. I happen to drive a 19-20 MPG car. However, my driving doesn't exceed 150 miles per month (my commute is about 4 miles each way).
I have absolutely no economical reason to go out and buy a hybrid vehicle or a more efficient vehicle, even if gas hits $10 a gallon (my car is paid for and works).
Back to the point of this article. I really don't think there's a problem to begin with. This is 2010, if your math skills aren't up to snuff to be able to compare MPGs when you're shopping for a car, go online and educate yourself.
Finally (if anyone is still reading), this whole thing reminds me of a certain bash quote.
Cheers
