Re:Irresponsible! ... not!The disclosure or nondisclosure-discussion has all been done over and over in bugtraq.
over 100 million users of AIM and you say, AOL won't be there during a holiday? What if someone started exploiting that (or a different hole) over the holidays?
Furrfu!See also the Full Disclosure Policy (RFPolicy) v2.0 which is followed by many bugtraq users. Note that 5 work days would mean that the report would have been made around 2001-12-20, at least in my locale.
A windowsy (humourous) look at the issue of disclosure can be seen here.

The obligatory get Laid comment
I want to get laid and have hundred's of women follow me where ever i go We all have dreams. Sitting in a cube for 12 hours a day, with only artificial sunlight won't help. Don't you remeber the last time it happened?
I was to be part of numerous stereotypes that are geeks everywhere You can be a part of this in any job. It's not software people only.
I want to be able to use bad grammer and not have to read what i write. Two things.

Oh man...
Why does this remind me of AMD's GiggaHertz(TM) lark?
On a more serious note though, I can't say I've ever heard of an official name for the base2 metric, however I remember there was some confusion a while ago about hard disk capacity... marketing weenies using one base and BIOS diagnostics displaying the other.... having said that of course these units just sound a bit lame anyway, perhaps we ought to come up with something, if nothing else, a little less ambiguous...

Normal for them
This isn't the first time that Microsoft has lied about XP.
The bad thing about this is that people will only see the Microsoft lies and not the rebuttals by Lineo and Redhat. The people here on Slashdot already know this about MS, but the rest of the public doesn't. That's what billions of dollars of marketing dollars will buy you. -
Window??

Actually, Sun has adopted Passport after Microsoft adopted Liberty Alliance. And if you believe that, I've got a bridge to sell you...

Wil is behind this!Wil Wheaton's interview:
- BBspot (11): Tell us why you're doing WilWheaton.net and about future plans for you and the site?
Wil: It's all part of my Bavarian Illuminatti-driven plot to rule the world. Now that you've read that, we're coming for you with our Orbital Mind Control Lasers.

Re:Huh?
In other news, the new Slash Content Generator is tested on the main slashdot site.
C'mon. You gotta admit at least some of these stories seem like they were pulled from that site :-) -

Re:geekword compliant?
Wow, this thing is amazing! Here's the story it generated for me:
Posted by brian on Mon December 03, 03:05 PM
smerfherdder writes "Salon has an interview with Albert Einstien which previews teh new vversion of Donkey Kong adn its place in teh curent technological environment. I was surprised to learn that Albert Einstien had an early hadn in teh development of Donkey Kong. Now if only Donkey Kong could help me with annhilating Microsoft." Good read.
Far fetched and completely believable as a /. story. Kudos to BBspot.

geekword compliant?
this story sounds like it came right out of the Slashdot Story Generator

pretty old...
... but relevant

Re:Bring back Wil Wheaton!
Someone should start a petition to bring back Wil Wheaton for this ST:TNG movie. Reading this interview [slashdot.org] gave me a much better impression of him.
Plus, he played for EFF [slashdot.org] on The Weakest Link!
I liked the BBSpot.com interview much more. The kid has a sharp sense of humor.
http://www.bbspot.com/Features/2001/10/11_question s_wil.html
BBspot (5): Did you feel like your character suffered from an Oedipus complex in Star Trek:The Next Generation? I mean, your mom was really hot, and your dad died under cloudy circumstances.
Wil: When Wesley's dad died, Wesley was so traumatized, he had to spend many, many nights sleeping in Dr. Crusher's quarters...and the therapeutic sponge baths really helped with the grieving process. Oh, and the oral sex.
Some may be offended, but there's a big fanfic obsession of hot Wesley/Momma boinking and he slyly hit that nail firmly. -
Is this the chip that makes TheInternet go faster?
Will AMD respond with a new rating system?

Re:Real Geek Gift Ideas
Hey, its a repeat, but everyone go here and find it amusing and concede. We all have different beliefs, and this is a harse environment to evangalize either side. There's no possible way to switch a christians mind, because whatever proof you have against god, is nothing more than a "test of faith", and its equally as hard to switch aethiests, cause they always have to ask for proof (although switching either side IS possible, its just down-right tough).
I try to sit semi in the middle. I am a christian, but I love science and believe they can co-exist. Keeping an open mind does cause conflicts, but I don't let them cloud my mind.
Oh, and this *is* off topic, but I got plenty of karma :-P -
Re:Real Geek Gift Ideas
Allow me to point this conversation (both sides) to bbspot. I'm sure we'll all find it humorous, and admit that the conversation is going nowhere....

The server they'll use.
Given their cozy relationship they'll probably want to use Microsoft's latest server which is the only one proven unhackable.

Re:Dear WilSomeone posted another article from BBspot interviewing him.. In that one he said:
"Oh, and I'm running Windows 2000, because I'm too lame for Linux. But some day...oh, some day I will learn Linux, and then, from Hell's dark heart I will stab at thee!"

Very Original, CmdrTaco. This very funny interview with Wil Wheaton was submitted last week, but was promptly rejected. And suddenly you've got your very own idea to interview him. I'm so very impressed by your originality.
So for the uninformed, CmdrTaco is a dick. And the above interview is inclined to be far more informative and funny than anything that will appear here. Go read it.

Re:Funny Wil Wheaton interview on BBSpot
According to the log it's for real. Wil has even admitted to it.
