Re:You wonder?
You certainly need a hidden camera. If you inform them of your camera (or it's obvious), then as others have stated, it'll probably get smashed and any recordings destroyed. And if they were already doing something wrong, if they destroy your camera, then they're probably about to do something a lot more wrong to you.
On my street (not a particularly good part of town; old, blue-collar, and multi-ethnic, though not particularly run-down or dangerous) the cops came to arrest someone, and when they got him out of his house, he was making some noises about resisting arrest and being somewhat disorderly. If I were a cop, I'd certainly have been prepared for trouble, the way he was acting. But one of the cops came over and told everyone who had gathered on the opposing sidewalk, about 30 feet away, that we had to disperse and couldn't watch. My landlord argued with him, asking why he couldn't stand on a public sidewalk near his house, well away from what was going on, and watch what happened in his neighborhood. The cop told him that if he didn't walk out of viewing distance, they'd arrest him. The cop said it was for the privacy of the person being arrested. Yea, right. The cops didn't want any witnesses around before they went to town on this guy. First person experience.
Even when the cops have been required by law to keep everything on camera and keep the footage, they'll still go turn the camera off illegally and beat the #*$ out of someone. Who's going to arrest them, they're a cop? More info on that one here At least the cop was fired, eventually, but not prosecuted or anything. He's appealing the decision.
Although sometimes, they don't destroy the evidence. And other times, people do get away with videos of cops being idiots unmolested.
And this guy has a whole series of videos he posts online catching cops doing illegal things. I wonder how long until he get his camera confiscated and nasty things happen to him off film? Also, see this. -

Re:I can't use this - YES YOU CAN
That depends if the shooter gets paid by the head shot or paid by the hour.
I am putting my money on he will drag the process out rather than crop like a fiend at his/her workstation (and probably not get paid much fo that time)..
That, and the 50 kids that were talking to each other or had their eyes shut.

Re:Okay I'll bite...
The problem is that some people in the USofA see Europe as one country. Well, it isn't. Each country has its own laws and political situation.
E.g. In Belgium you can not sell a contract as part of a phone deal. Also the phone can never be locked. You can sell them at the same time, but you can not sell them as part of one contract.
I believe it is the same in Portugal. In other countries the situation is different. The fun part is that because much of Europe is one economic entity, you can easily buy a phone in another country unlocked and no contract and use it where you live. -

Profit Yaweh Can Summon UFO's On Command
My favorite UFO in the news was when a local news station was doing a human interest series on local nut-jobs who made claims about the paranormal. They were very skeptical and generally debunking these people by showing up with a camera and recording it when the nut-jobs failed to produce anything paranormal, without actually confronting or insulting the people. They'd just done a bunch of ghost hunters the night before.
Then they interview "Prophet Yaweh" from Las Vegas who says that by reading the Old Testament of the Bible in Hebrew, he learned a secret that allows him to summon UFO's on command. So the news channel picked a date, time, and location, and Prophet Yaweh shows up, and immediately summons a UFO, throwing the story rather off track. -

Similar Theme
Maybe it'll be along the same lines as this ad for Warcraft?
Or, very similar to the Futurama episode where Fry discovers why men are not to date robots through the cheesy 1950s-ish sex-ed film? (humans will fail to reproduce and die as a species)
That's the most I can gather from the title ... -

Re:Custard
how will this stand up against a knife or a bayonet? I know in the modern era this is more or less mute
The article suggests near the beginning that it would protect against knives. Also, one of the earlier comments contained a link to a CNN video ( http://www.break.com/movies/newarmor23.html ), and near the end of the video one of the researchers (I believe that's who it was) explicitly says that it can protect against ballistics and knives.
P.S. It's moot, not mute. -

Wing Suits
Sky divers and BASE jumpers have been using wing suits a long time. Some guys even fly similar fixed wings like this. I watched the HALO training shows on the military channel a couple days ago and there's no way they'd be training people to be combat ready in 20 days on a HAHO jump with a fixed wing. Wouldn't seem like the amount of effort involved with be worth it. One of the coolest and craziest wing suit jumps I've seen: http://my.break.com/Content/ViewContentPublic.asp
