R.H.I.N.O. stands for Robotism Heuristic...
From http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/ultimate_
s pider_man_boss_enemy.txtR.H.I.N.O stands for "Robotism Heuristic Intelligence Navigable Operative".
The R.H.I.N.O is a battle armor created by Alex O'Hirn, a geeky scientist. At first, it was just a robot, which got it's keister kicked by Iron Man. Alex O'Hirn decided to make it a suit, which he than used for himself. In the 616 Universe, Alex O'Hirn was a thug stuck in a Rhino suit which gave him immense strength. So you can see the huge difference between the 616 and the Ultimate Universe.

Re:Hear that silence?I don't know about that, I think the Nintendo haters just tend to whine louder. Take a look at these GameFAQs polls, for example:
Got XBox?(The title is missing from the poll for some reason, but you can find the link to it here)
Got Gamecube?Looks like a bunch of Nintendo fans, judging by the numbers for the "no, and I never will" option.

(In fact I'm positive)
Yeah, but it'd difficult to actually get the real instruction booklet, though I'm sure there's an FAQ out there.

Re:Truthfully
Once again, why the excitement?
It was the first game that had something that more closely resembeled photorealism - that made it popular. Of course, there are flukes:
- In theory, you can complete the game in 15 minutes. (http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/game/8946 7.html - see the first FAQ, section VI / MYS18)
- The main area had a puzzle where you had to press buttons to unlock a book. You can't tell if they are pressed or not: red and green seem like generic colours to me, especially when.
- The ship area had a telescope at the top, which you had to use to identify a direction. However, the telescope turned slowly.
- The Futuristic area had a radio puzzle that required a .1 degree alignment. You could move by .1 steps by clicking, or by 1 degree steps after a short delay. Generally, you overshot the required destination.
- The Futuristic area also had a maze. Not a problem, assuming that it won't take forever if you don't know the secret. (Which it does - unskippable transions.) You need to pass through the maze twice as well to maximize "plot revelation".
Basically, the game was beautiful at 1994/1995. Other than that, it has the same flaws that some cheap adventure games make. -
I'm always weary of those who "police" the 'net.
I'm always very weary of those who "police" the Internet, be them people such as this guy working for Microsoft, or even the moderators at various forums.
Take the GameFAQs.com forums, for instance. In a topic entitled "We should just ban somebody when we don't like their face." we find the following topic-starting message:
From: Sashanan | Posted: 9/1/2005 1:12:15 AM | Message Detail
Like every other forum on the internet does. And don't allow people who are banned to ever return. And give moderators the authority to just randomly moderate whatever they feel like for fun.
I mean, people complain already under the most ****ing lenient moderation system ever devised, so what's the difference?
---
People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it.

http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?bo ard=577219&topic=23261348
(Let's hope they don't go and delete that incriminating message!)
Keep in mind that this "Sashanan" person is, according to his or her profile, a "53: Lead Moderator".
That is very typical of the attitudes that such moderators have. Funnily enough, such moderators will turn around and post the common "I'm American, I love freedom!" rhetoric, all while holding opinions that are completely against the most basic of American (or even democratic/Western) principles. -
Re:Call of Cthulhu ?
One of the effects that got me was the TV appearing to change inputs and then hearing lots of gunfire and screaming.
There's a good list on GameFAQs. -
Reducing the player sanity
Instead you try to reduce the player's sanity
Some insanity effects:- You'll open your inventory, only to find that you've lost
all of your items. - Your TV will appear to have changed video modes, but you
can hear yourself being attacked. - The word Mute will appear, as if someone has muted your TV, and all noise will cease.
- The game will "reset"
- After you save your game, the game will say that it is deleting your game.
- You'll walk into a room, and have many zombies surrounding you, and the game will give you a message that it doesn't detect a controller in port 1.
- You'll see the word Volume will appear, and the volume bar will decrease.
I think that's what they're really patenting, not the blood-on-the-walls thing.

Re:Feh. I'm pretty sick of Microsoft.
The people I would love to hurt are the ones at Square-Enix. If I understand right, Final Fantasy is now 360-exclusive. So much for Final Fantasy.
:\
Where in the world did you get that idea? FF XI is going to be ported, but that's pretty much it for the moment.
There's another "main" FF game coming out for the PS2, as well. -
Re:Yes, they keep saying this.
These sophisticated, visceral, video games which draw the player deep into street level violence and celebrate a gangster life-style are something new.
If by "something new" you mean 7 years old. You'd think it was the end of the world back then, what with crazy drivers running women and children down on the streets... you might even call it a "Carmageddon".
You might even go "Postal" to find out that the "run around town and kill innocent bystanders" idea has been around even longer. -

Expect to see this for years to come
As soon as the exclusivity deal was signed, innovation ended. I expect EA to release the exact same game for every year of the contract, with the exception of updated rosters and some new "feature" like the QB vision. Each new feature will be half-assed and poorly implemented.
Football games haven't exactly been known for innovation, but what little did exist is dead now.
The only hope is that the exclusivity contract will cause game developers at other companies to branch out and build truly interesting sports games, ones like Base Wars or Super Baseball Simulator 1.000 perhaps, though obviously football instead of baseball.
Maybe we can get a Blood Bowl game (on a console)? -

Re:That's a dangerous road.
I support that idea, at least, since I don't want my lv. 97 Superlative Love Ninja to heal up by drinking Sprite
That reminded me of a game from the olden days of the big, clunky, battery eating Game Gear.
I had to look it up, but I believe it was this game: Cool Spot. You were the 7UP dot, with arms and legs, and it was a platforming game. The game essentially WAS an advertisement. This is probably the biggest form of advertising ever in any video game, and I hope games don't turn for the worse and get so loaded with advertisements that we end up with games like this again. -

Re:The Rub, 10 years down the road....Now Sony has billed the Playstation3 as a 10-year device.
They've also said things about how the PS2/PS3 would be 200 times more powerful than their last console.
If you believe them when they say it will have a 10 year life cycle, you should probably get your head examined. If anything, it seems that the lifespan of consoles is decreasing: (based on information from GameFAQs.
Nintendo: 7/83 - 11/90
Super Nintendo: 11/90 - 6/96
Nintendo 64: 6/96 - 9/01
GameCube: 9/01 - 8/06 (guess based on current information)
As you can see, the lifespan of consoles is decreasing as they become more advanced. The Xbox has only existed for roughly 4 years and it's already being replaced. People will still makes games for a system after a new one comes out, but most of the killer apps will be for the new platform.
I think what Sony meant to say when they threw out the 10 year figure is that it has technology in it that will finally come into wide acceptance and be standard in 10 years. 1080p TVs, good luck finding those today, but in 10 years I think a lot of people will have HD TVs capable of making full use of the PS3's graphical output abilities. Blu-ray discs won't be heavily used now since most people are satisfied with DVDs, but in 10 years it's possible that they will have replaced the DVD as the standard. There is no way, however, that the PS3 will last for 10 years. That's like saying if you purchased a top of the line computer right now that it would still be competitive 10 years down the road. It might handle Doom 3 just fine now, but what about Doom 5?
Essentially what we get is another bullshit figure pulled from the ass of Sony to get people to buy what they're selling. 10 is a nice round number and sounds impressive and somewhat believable after all the hype about the PS3 we've had thrown at us, but in 10 years I think we'll be looking at getting a nice new shiny PS5, which will replace our PS4, which 5 years before replaced the then almost pathetic PS3. Moore's law just won't allow something like the PS3 a 10 year life span.

Another Underappreciated OST
If you're a fan of good game music, pick up Phantom Crash for the Xbox. The gameplay is repetitive, the bot construction is opaque with a steep learning curve, and the RPG elements are cliched, but the soundtrack is easily the best and most eclectic that I've ever heard on a game.
I'll be buying the upcoming PS2 version just on the hopes that the music will be half as good.

Help bring evolution to the dirty south:

And we get a shopping list!
Out of thousands of games that have been reviewed, only 18 have received the AO rating--including such titles as Water Closet: The Forbidden Chamber and Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude Uncut and Uncensored.
Ok, I've seen `Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude' and wasn't terribly impressed, but Water Closet: The Forbidden Chamber [warning: NSFW ] sounded scary enough to actually look up.Then I realized it was just another mindless henai game. Blech. I guess I should have expected as much.
If only 18 games have been rated AO, that must mean that the vast majority of the hentai games made are never submitted. Which makes sense.
Ultimately, I think the AO designation isn't so scary in that sex is going to corrupt my children more than games where you can kill cops, it's that the game is likely to just be just plain bad, with `have sex!' being the attaction, and actual gameplay being an afterthought. (Though LSL:MCL isn't a great game, it's somewhat entertaining. Which is unusual for it's rating.)
Oh, now I get it. The latest Leisure Suit Larry must have two versions -- the standard `M' rated version, and the `Uncut and Uncensored' version, which is rated `AO' and probably removes the [censored] marks from the `M' version. Not sure why seeing Larry's schlong makes it adults only, but that's the ratings for you. [I must have seen the `M' version, though I've heard there's a patch for that
...]I recall pulling out Virtual Valerie 2 at parties for shock value, but back then it was novel. Now it's just boring.
As for `Hot coffee', it actually fits into the GTA game. Yes, it's really poorly simulated sex (I've seen the movie of it) but it does make sense that the hero of the game might have a girlfriend, and might get to have sex with her. (It would make more sense if he at least pulled his pants down, however.)
It's pretty sad that this `easter egg' (one that can't even be accessed without jumping through some serious hoops) has upset all these people so much, so much more than things like getting points for beating a hooker and taking your money back after paying her

Re:definition of gamerwhere the three (or is it four?) warp whistles are in SMB3
Three, one through the white platform in 1-3, one in the first mini-castle by flying above the door to the boss, and one with the fireball hammer brothers in the overworld in world 2, behind the rock.
I might be a gamer. I always warped around world 5 once I learned how, so I don't remember. Maybe that costs me the gamer cred from remember the whistles without looking it up.
A non gamer would go to gamefaqs or something. Kids these days, no respect. We found the warp zones by trial and error, and we LIKED it that way.

Re:Looks like PS2 pattern
Half of the PS1 games I own don't work. Granted I don't have a huge library, but backwards compat doesn't mean shit if the games I want to play don't work.
http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/playstatio n2_backwards_compat.txt
Regardless of how you look at it, 100% compatibility means that all games function, not most games. -

You've got a good point. But I would like to point out, noting also how rare the swap seems to be, that there was a Legend of Zelda game where Zelda rescued Link called Wand of Gamelon. Simply put, it blew.

Re:Some Good, Some Bad...
I'll be -1 Redudant and point out, say, many of Will Wright's offerings,
Wright is most famous for producing toys, not games. The semantic difference is that games are necessarily about progressing towards a defined victory condition.
Games such as Thief and, to a lesser extent, Splinter Cell, fulfill the former; and the underrated
Um, no. Splinter Cell was all about roving hallways and killing. Thief wasn't spying either (it was "thieving", but on low difficulty you could also play it hunter-killer style).
For a game about spying, try something like Spycraft. That was ages ago, and it's high time a brave developer tried it again for a modern system. I'd say that WWII is the best setting for espionage fun, except that reviewers are too sick 1940s overexposure by now.
Real spying, like real organized-crime, is primarily a verbal task of interpersonal relationships, and is hard for the current state of hardware/software technology, and also hard for the average gamer to appreciate. -
