APB on Hamburglar
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office: Antiquated Memes Division's next case will involve Hamburglar and his doppelganger, H.R. Pufnstuf. This cold case has been unsolved for more than 20 years.
Rest assured, however, the SLOC Sheriff's Office: Antiquated Memes Division is determined to get to the bottom of it!

FOSS games are just as good as Facebook games
I see a double standard in the way you praise Facebook gaming while "dissing" open source games. First, you say that we should consider Facebook games as just as good as "real" games. On the other hand, you also say that "the state of open source games is not good." But for every popular Facebook game (e.g. Farmville, Mafia Wars), I can download dozens of FOSS games that are just as good or even better. So okay, maybe these FOSS games are just knockoffs of some commercial game. But aren't those Facebook games that you say are "fun to play" also knockoffs of, let's say, Sim City? Oh well, I'm logging off now and playing another round of Megaglest and Sauerbraten.

Re:I don't see much of an advantage...
Well the not being hemmed in by the MPEG-LA's patent trolling would be one big advantage. "It's a shame your film has made some money or become famous, let's talk about damages."
Being limited to the C or CS lenses seems like a pretty big thing when the 5D has a large range of interchangeable lenses, and apparently the Red One can use Nikon and Canon lenses with adapters and even have full electronic control of them. The people developing the Magic Lantern firmware seem to be a fan of the 5D's larger sensor compared to the Red One, etc to the point where they are reverse engineering the camera to add some cinematic improvements to its firmware. That's pretty hard core. -

Re:Finally!
The turning to the darkside was set in motion from the second one. Sure it was accelerated somewhat during the latter portions of the third one, but thats what you get from showing it in a film. Lets not forget what Yoda said "Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate". It was his fear which led him down the wrong path. The fear of being taken for granted, the fear of being an outcast, the fear of losing his one true love. Fear is a powerful emotion, which has corrupted bigger men in history than some fictional character in a Sci Fi fantasy film.
Amen. But that's not necessarily bad. To correspond with Yoda's code, there was also a Code of the Sith.
"Peace is a lie. There is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken."
A movie centered around Palpatine teaching Anakin/Vader something like that would have been an interesting story. In Episode III, Vader didn't even have the vaguest idea what he stood for. By the time Episode IV rolls around, he did.
I learned more about Darth Vader playing KOTOR than I did in all six Star Wars movies.
If Yoda's "Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering" was the only accepted canonical phrasing of the Jedi Code, a simple correction, perhaps in the form "Fear leads to hate. Hate leads to strength. Strength leads to power." (with an implicit loop-closing "...and power instills fear, but only in others, like those wimpy Jedi!) would have sufficed.

3 trenches actually

Blasters aren't lasers.
Star wars blasters are actually (I can't believe I said that) bolts of superheated plasma, not lasers. The plasma is what does the damage, not the laser. That's why they call them "blasters" and not "lasers", as well as why they have visible flight time instead of being nigh-instantaneous. (It doesn't explain why one side's ships have orange bolts and the other side has green, though. That never made sense to me.) More details at [ http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Blaster ].
Similarly, a lightsaber is described as a blade of plasma, held in place by a projected energy field. It's not a laser either. ( per [ http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lightsaber ] )

Re:And So Offered Another Inaccuracy
Indeed, if you're familiar with Docking Bay 327, it is inside a large maitenance trench where the structural weaknesses should have created a horizontal ring exploding outward. Instead the movie gave us a vertical ring exploding outward.
Veritcal or Horizontal?? Based on what? Too many misconceptions about the use of the word Horizontal.
Based on how they framed it in every goddamn scene and the frame before it blew up?

And So Offered Another InaccuracyFrom the article:
Sadly, upon closer inspection, we see that ILM blew this rare opportunity for scientific realism in the Star Wars universe

I hate most of Star Trek and basically considered Star Wars a religion as a human larva & pupa (see above docking bay reference). Being as how I was hatched after the last (real) Star Wars movie came out, my nipples exploded with joy at the prospect of seeing the originals on the big screen -- special edition or not. I was confused by the Han/Greedo exchange, found not a whole lot of added value in the other aspects but must have been the only person pleased with a more satisfactory Death Star explosion. But a debunking astronomer

Wrong. That is precisely the target of the big massed assault the humans engage in at the end.

Re:Noise/Light Sensitivity/Optics
I've started taking multiple photos of everything I care about with my 5.0 Mp A610 and stitching them together. Even crushing the stitched image back down to the camera's resolution leaves you with a much better image than than straight shot. It's depressing.

Psha. I thought everyone knew that HAARP was just a front for the U.S. recreation of the Weather Dominator based on parts/pieces of the original and defectors following the final battle (similar to the U.S. Missile/Space program being based on German research).

Emperor's "slugs"?
Any chance that they will fix the Emperor's "slugs"? I find that to be the most irritating thing in the movies and really hurt the enjoyment. I can even stand Greedo and Jar Jar.
'The "Emperor's slugs," also called the "Emperor's black spot," refers to a solid black area on the edge of Emperor Palpatine's hood in Return of the Jedi. The dark spot is actually a bit of hand-drawn animation. Although no definitive answer exists, Pablo Hidalgo learned from someone at LFL that the spot was likely added because the "particular low angle revealed a rather strange fold in the Emperor's temple that drew attention away from his eyes."[98]'

Re:Poll; what was the best game created on Doom 3?
This gets my vote for "Most Uniformed Post of The Day".
Very little programming effort.... yeah just rewrite it all. If you don't understand why, quit commenting.
Mostly art and modelling.... here's a hint --- modern games.... MOST of the cost goes into the art. Teams have a lot more artists than coders.
What part of the words "expansion pack" don't you understand? I'm not saying they would reprogram the whole thing. Some other guys already did the first episode of Doom1 as an expansion pack:
http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/Classic_Doom_for_Doom_3
They didn't have significant programming effort to do that - and that's ALL I said. I said NOTHING about how much effort the art and modelling would be. Quit trying to read what's not there.
Your post, however, must have seemed off even to you given that you had to post it anonymously.

Re:Sleep
Looks like nobody's mentioned polyphasic sleep so far, so I guess I'll do it:
Polyphasic sleep is sleeping in multiple phases in a day. So you don't sleep for 8 hours, and stay awake for 16. Instead, you spread your sleep out over the day.
Although spreading 8 hours over multiple stretches might be beneficial for some, reducing your total sleep time is where it gets interesting.
A article in Time Magazine from 1943 describes how Buckminster Fuller devised a system (called Dymaxion sleep) where he slept a half-hour every 6 hours, sleeping 2 hours in a day. That gives an amazing 22 hours a day to do stuff, build Beowulf clusters of N900s, keep a watch out for the Bat-Signal, or whatever.
The biggest problem with minimal, polyphase sleep systems is that you have to sleep on a schedule. You can't postpone sleep for a business meeting or a late lunch. That's the reason most people (including Fuller) have to drop it.

Apple v. San Francisco Canyon
Hey, troll who uses random bold formatting for attention:
In August 1997, Apple and Microsoft announced a settlement deal. Apple would drop all current lawsuits, including all lingering issues from the Apple Computer, Inc. v. Microsoft Corp. lawsuit and the "QuickTime source code" lawsuit, and agree to make Internet Explorer the default browser on the Macintosh unless the user explicitly chose the bundled Netscape browser. In return, Microsoft agreed to continue developing Office, Internet Explorer, and various developer tools and software for the Mac for the next five years, and purchase $150 million of non-voting Apple stock.
The companies also agreed to mutual collaboration on Java technologies, and to cross-license all existing patents, and patents obtained during the five-year deal, with one another.
