I totally agree that this is much more important than most people think.
I've been training hard (swimming) for the last 4 weeks. So far i've lost 0.6kg total weight, which is below my expectations. However, I also have been taking bodyfat measurements, which show that I've actually gained 1.4kg of muscle, and lost 2kg of fat.
As sticking with a routine is really about mentality, it really helps to know that you're making progress.

Re:What?
I don't get why they can't just use the old trick of hiding a zip file in an image file.
Seems simpler, technology-wise, to me than encoding a torrent file as a PNG image, and all you would have to do to get the torrent file is change the extension on the file. Also seems safer. Unless this trick wouldn't be possible with
.torrent files, that is? -

Re:Fluorescent monkeys? Bah
FIGHTING with one of these lean, mean green machines would definitely show you to be very unenlightened...
But, if you don't believe, then read this:

Now, if you don't heed, you will bleed, and kiss behind your behind for that last view of monkeyshine...
When all else fails, make love, not war. Get down with the monkey business... and do the funky monkey..

Re:Add cargo capacity or else.
I'm serious. Why would I bother with this product if I get around on my bicycle, for example? I need to be able to haul stuff, and I would love to have something like this for that purpose.
You can. Just use your bicycle. It might not carry as much as your Silverado or Tundra, but it definitely gets better gas mileage.

Re:How about s/mime support?
How do I do a conference call on my blackberry (ie add a second party into a call)? That's a pretty useful business function and I don't think it exists on a blackberry
Most phones and carriers support 3 way calling, even if it's not obvious how to do it. The carriers like it because it lets them bill you for double airtime.
Googling "blackberry 3 way calling" gave these. Obviously the specifics depend on your exact device; you should check your phone's manual and/or the carrier's instructions.
http://www.wikihow.com/Three-Way-Call-With-Your-Blackberry
1. Dial your first call using the address book or dial it with the keypad, or await someone else calling.
2. When the two lines are connected, press the Talk button, or the green call button.
3. On this screen, type the name or number you want to call. Then press the Talk button again.
4. Once you are connected with the third line, press the Menu button.
5. Once the window is opened, press the option that says, Join.
6. The two calls are now connected.
7. To disconnect from one caller but not the other, press the Menu button again.
8. Go to the End Call option.
9. A new screen will pop up asking you who you want to disconnect.
10. Chose the caller you would like to disconnect.
11. You have disconnected them.http://communication.howstuffworks.com/host-conference-call-using-your-mobile-device1.htm
To initiate a three-way call from your BlackBerry:
1. On the home screen, click phone.
2. Click the trackwheel, and select new call.
3. Highlight a contact, click the trackwheel and select call.
4. While the first contact is highlighted, click the trackwheel and select hold.
5. Click the trackwheel and select new call.
6. Select the second recipient, click the trackwheel, and select call.
7. After you're connected to the second call, click the trackwheel and select join.
8. To add more callers to the conference, repeat Steps 4 through 7.
9. Terminate the conference call as you would a phone call. -
Re:You got it wrong
Quoting from your original post:
A single desktop, so that Linux is one desktop, not several. Otherwise the other efforts, such as the help desk, marketing and research all multiply their efforts making everything impractical.
You then go on to say in a later post:
Let me put it this way. Linux should put [all] resources on one desktop environment which should result into a wonderful desktop while leaving the possibility of using another should there be need.
You want a single desktop. How, then, can one leave "the possibility of using another should there be need?" People see a need now, so they use different ones now and they help develop these.
p.s. You're writing in English, not pseudo-code. Use brackets correctly.

Go Green!
You can use a Toyota Prius to generate power enough to keep essentials operable.
I think that the first thing I would do is figure out what circuit breakers go to essential services (that you need in a cold weather power outage) and carefully label those fuses. Then run the power to your box with only those circuits hot.
This is not something you can just throw together, this is something you should get a licensed electrician to put together for you. The link to the article should tell any electrician what kind of power is coming off the Prius and that should give him ideas about how to set things up.
I highly recommend that your Prius have plenty of gasoline before you set it up as your generator. But this article suggests one person was able to supply his home with three days worth of power on five gallons of gasoline.
Of course you'll have to take the other car to work.

Re:There is hope
Better to use a pure non-oil based solvent such as denatured alcohol (pure alcohol).
+1 for alcohol. I used to clean out old tape recorders with it, and it's the only thing I will use to clean electronics. Plus, it's widely recommended for dealing with waterlogged cell phones. It also evaporates quickly.
Note: It's best to dry out your electronics before they get to this state. Damage may have already been done by corrosion of the contacts. -

Re:Focus on the developing world uses.
Simple, effective ideas will spread like wildfire, my favorite exampe is the Pot in a Pot Fridge that extends the life of farm produce from one day to three or four, meaning that a subsistance farmer does not have to sell all his excess at the village market on the same day it was picked.
I don't know how usefull this thing is to Jose-sixpack but he should certainly be given the opportunity to judge that for himself. -

Re:meh...
You've eliminated the need for your short term memory because it's all written down.
From the tips page pointed to by your second link:
2. Write it down. Whatever it is that you have to remember, commit it to writing. Use a white board, bulletin board, notebook, the palm of your hand, or any other format that helps.
(my emphasis)
8. Take good notes. Whether in a class, in a meeting, or simply for personal reasons, take notes.
This is kind of what the GP is doing with his/her diary, which is what you claim is contributing to his/her memory problem.
-
Re:meh...
Your diary is actually contributing to the problem of having to ask people where you had lunch the day before. You've eliminated the need for your short term memory because it's all written down. So now, when you need to actually use your short term memory, it's performance is severely degraded over what it once was. This might even lead to further problems as you age.
Whether you started the diary for enjoyment or due to brain injury or whatever, if you have the ability, you should probably start working on short term memory exercises before it gets too bad. Play "memory" games, get Brain Age, read this: http://www.wikihow.com/Improve-Your-Memory and probably this http://www.wikihow.com/Cope-With-Short-Term-Memory-Problems
Try to extend the length of time you can go without journaling and still retain the level of detail you desire. Nothing unreasonable, just long enough that you are not hampering your mental abilities.

Re:Toothpaste
Get toothpaste. NOT GEL, but regular white paste. Get a small cloth, put a dab on it, then rub it from the center to the outside in straight lines going outwards around the whole disk. When you're done, clean it off and pat it dry. Disk will look like hell, but it'll work.
I have rescued lord knows how many CDs with this technique, including console ones that were completely screwed, and even resurrected a dead DVD-RW just this past weekend using this technique.
Just to reiterate: http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Scratched-CD
I found this VERY helpful.

Re:Yeah
Memory is associative. This implies that remembering a dream while conscious depends on strong associations held by the conscious mind. That's the random part: the dream one happens to remember is the one that has more in common with one's conscious personality. If you think you're not good at fighting, you'll probably remember the dreams where you didn't do so well in a fight. Conversely, when an actual fight situation comes up, you're more likely to do poorly if your conscious mind is engaged. Compare and contrast to reflexive reactions, where you "don't have time" to think.
TFA suggests that it is possible to have dreams which train your subconscious by association. Given that you aren't conscious of every mental process, it's not hard to imagine that your mind can train itself without conscious knowledge. I think it's roughly analogous to code that runs faster without debugging turned on: If you could be conscious of even *some* of your background mental processes, they'd be slowed down--and you'd be spending lots of your awake time just to watch, let alone interpret the debugging output.
Our brains work without our consciousness--and given training, they do far better without our consciousness. Consider the pianist playing Flight of the Bumblebee flawlessly, who suddenly becomes conscious of his/her fingers. For a more common activity, who among us can do that cool pencil-spinning trick, and who can't--or remembers trying to learn it?. Mistakes are far more likely with the conscious mind engaged. The purpose of training is to optimize the loop by removing the conscious mind.
What's weird about the idea under discussion is that it describes training initiated without the conscious mind. This form of training likely has its origins in the lower life forms which perform complex tasks that seem to transcend simple ROM, e.g., wasps. -

Re:It's a matter of publishing
I kind of agree with this. Make it like public records, so you can only access it if you know how to access free public records and possibly even have to pay a fee for the information. That would solve the issue. It's not that different than real estate documents or criminal records if you think about it.

How your gaming experience created your dream...
The reason you had your dream concerning your gaming experience is because what you have been thinking about before you try to sleep, has a significant input to your dreams. In other words, you can control your dreams to a high degree. The first time I had heard of this concept was when I was in high school more than 15 years ago, but the ideas http://www.wikihow.com/Control-Your-Dreams are still valid today.
There is a reason for why you have the initial dreams you do. The stronger your focus before you go to sleep, the more likely you will have a dream concerning that particular subject. It is likely once you finished the game you were not actively thinking about it the following night at the same level of intensity, which is why you did not dream about it much if at all, the following night. -
