The Tetris Company has turned Tetris into LairI guess the core problem is that nothing Intel produces can run time optimize "Lair" into "Tetris" or otherwise correct for this. That's because The Tetris Company has already done this "optimization" for you. Reviewers have called Tetris Worlds and Tetris DS "broken". These games use recent versions of the official Tetris rule set, which since 2001 includes infinite spin (explained), counterintuitive rotations (explained), and a piece randomizer that has a pattern allowing infinite play (explained).

Re:Probably getting bit by lack of technical talen
Hello Captain.
Sorry to disagree with you, but I used to work at Paypal. It was great, and instead of a check, they sent my earnings directly through Paypal immediately (they only took off 2.9% as well, what a bargain!)
As you can tell, you are wrong about Paypal. They taught me about Fiscal responsibility and with that, I was able to save over 300K in cash. They doubly reinforced that lesson afterward, after I left, by freezing my account.
It turned out to be my pals back at the office! What pranksters! Though, I still wish I had my cash back. It's been over a year and I am beginning to have my doubts. -

Re:Mr. FusionYou fail.
Gee, and you're single you say? I never would have guessed. You have such a likeable disposition.
Thanks for adding so much to the conversation. I think I need to reiterate so that you can better understand my position, Mr. Coward.
Good luck with that.
You fail.
You fail.
You fail.
Perhaps if you kept up with that crazy internet logo the kids these days use, you wouldn't look like such an anonymous fool. -
Re:the power of the web...
This is a type of troll review that you see a lot on sites like YTMND. You give a 5-star rating while sarcastically feigning praise in order to mock the submitter. It's subtle but much more effective than a 1-star "u r dum" troll as it also serves to debase the work's real supporters. It's a similar form of sarcasm as used by Stephen Colbert, if you've ever seen his work.

Re:Idiocracy
Exactly. "Smart" people are statistically less likely to reproduce for some reason. On a evolutionary scale, that makes smart people dumb as crap. The goal of this life it to replicate your genes through reproduction as many times as you can support your offspring. You can get all smart and highfalutin and nerdy all day, but if you don't make replicas of yourself, well, then as Wonka said it best:

Modern Tetris is broken three waysI see Tetris as high art. It has a transcendent beauty unparalleled by conventional art. Until you take a closer look and see the flaws:
- infinite spin (explained),
- counterintuitive T-spin triples (explained), and
- "bag" randomization that allows playing forever (explained).

Another one bites the dust...
This illustrates the further problems of the Sony strategy for the PS3. Another "exclusive" is planning to go multi-platform. This is a kin to rats leaving a sinking ship.... Maybe when it does sink, Kas and the rest of them will see their almighty "giant enemy crabs"? This site says it all - http://lexluthorbeating.ytmnd.com/ Don't be afraid to sing along!
_____
"Since when did Bush become the Emperor, and who's the Jar Jar Binks we need to hang? Oh forget it... Let's just hang Jar Jar anyways..." -
Giant Enemy Crabs.....
This price drop indicates that Sony is in a desperate situation. Sony has seriously slipped up here and needs to pull out all the stops in order to catch up with this next gen battle. Let's review what is going on here:
1) Cost - Sony really botched up with the cost. No matter what fellow geeks out there say - $599 is way too much for somebody like me. The average gamer isn't able to generate that kind of income. Remember Neo Geo? It was technology advanced, but nobody was willing to fork over $700 for the system, $100 per game, and $200 for games. This is EXACTLY the same mistake Sony is making with the $599 price tag. Now that it is down to $499, it MAY be able to catch up.
2) Games - Sony has blatenly ignored the gamers out there, both causal and hard core. So far there has been nothing to justify the cost of the system. Also, Sony has lost most of its "exclusive titles". Meanwhile Microsoft and Nintendo have created games that newbs, casual and hardcore gamers enjoy. Sony's only justification? Ridge Racer and giant enemy crabs http://lexluthorbeating.ytmnd.com/....
3) Wii - The Wii has had a strong head start. Outselling PS3 almost 7 to 1 in Japan will give Sony alot of work ahead of it. Sony needs to find a weakness in the Wii's momentum to stop it. However, that may be akin to trying to find a weakness in Fort Knoxx...
4) Blu-Ray - This whole deal with the next-gen DVD format is way too soon. Not everybody can rush out there and get the next big thing... Most wait till they have to get it before switching and, despite what a lot think, not everybody has even made the switch to regular DVD...
To sum this all up - Sony has their work cut out for them because of the starting blunders. IF they want to suceed with this, they need to make games that people WANT to play. Funny bit is - Wii is making a profit with each sale and despite a lot of defective 360s, is still going strong. A good site to look at is at http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Investing/Ext ra/SonySlashesPlayStationThreePrice.aspx -

Re:Gambling?
Gambling, (other)gaming, and drug use may be different things in your eyes, but they are all intimately related. For starters they are frequently comorbid: You will often find that clinics treating gambling problems also must treat alcoholism (and/or the abuse of other drugs). I don't know if anyone has studied online gaming and alcoholism, but I'd bet good money that there are papers waiting to be written in that area.
Now for the good stuff: Dopamine pathways in the brain play a huge role in drug addictions. More recently it's believed that the mesolimbic dopamine pathway plays a large part in "teaching" (in the behavioralist sense) all addicts to be addicts, regardless of the object of their addiction. There was a study a few years ago that actually showed in real time the effect that gambling had on these dopamine pathways: gambling addicts playing cards elicited no abnormal response, but the second a wager was made (and the game became gambling for money) those pathways lit up like christmas trees.
I believe MMORPG-style video games have the potential to be even more addictive and destructive due to the embedded social component inherent in their playstyle. Not only are you being rewarded (and addicted) by your neurochemical system for in-game successes, but as you spend more time in-game your game "friends" begin to supplant your real-life friends. They fill the desire for socialization as well as potentially lead you to virtual (and neurochemical) rewards. They become more useful to your limbic system than your real friends. (just as an aside, this may also help explain some extreme emotional responses to in-game problems. Listen to this audio http://www.ytmnd.com/keyword/Cloud%20Song and tell me it doesn't sound a bit like a drug addict being denied his fix.) -

Re:Okay geeks...A perfect sphere, down to the atom, of 1 kg silicon would require pi to what precision? Avogadro's number, the number of atoms in 0.012 kg of carbon-12 is 6.022 * 10^23. So you'd need about 25 digits for 1 kg of silicon. But there are several times that many digits in the pi song.

Microsoft Goldeneye and Microsoft Blast CorpsGoldeneye 007 That probably won't happen. Ownership of exclusive rights in this game is split among Nintendo, Microsoft (which purchased Rare and has its own console out), and Activision (which currently holds the exclusive James Bond 007 license from EON). Blast Corps - Granted, this game is mostly unheard of, but that doesn't prevent it from being one of the greatest, most underrated games from the N64. Also a Microsoft product. Tetris (NES version) - It rules over all other versions of Tetris. Mr. Rogers and his Neighborhood want to ensure that all new Tetris products include "standard Tetris", the rule set that includes infinite spin and spin triples.
