Detailed reviews from IGN and some other mag.

Pretty interesting stuff, yey for linked AH's. No mention of the paladin revamp in 1.9, sounds like ..they haven't started fixing the class they revamped two weeks before launch yet. The 'scripted world event' in 1.9 sounds cool though.

I'm a bit disapointed, with all this info I see nothing that makes me happy as a pvp player. I'd like to hear about a FFA pvp server type, but I don't think we are getting it. -

My company is just the oppositeMy company requires new users to navigate the Labyrinth Of Despair, swing on burning ropes across the Chasms Of Molten Hate, do battle with a dozen skeleton warriors and all the while collecting obscure Myst-like clues in order to figure out the initial login password.
And if you forget your password, you have to do it again.

Some have suggested our IT folks have gone a bit too far. They claim not, but it's hard to argue with new account setup metrics of 14 dead, 39 severely wounded and 21 missing (presumed logged in).

"Pro-Iranian cyberterrorists attack website, demand nuclear arms."
Yeah. This'll push their agenda forward by about ten thousand years.
P.S. I transcribed the Engrish into my grammar checker and my laptop nearly caught fire. "we want from iran government than quit NPT." Sheesh.

They could not open the swollen doors downstairs. You can tell by the walls how high the water got. The house is a good five feet above the water level of the bayou. -
Linux, making strides, still not thereBetter still, use the truly secure Linux operating system. Six months after making the change, you will not use Windows again. The cost of Linux is also much less than the cost of upgrading Windows XP Home Edition to Windows XP Professional.
Hey, I
 linux as much as the next guy but it's still a bitch on laptops because either shit doesn't work or you need to hack for a week to get it to work. IBM has thrown quite a lot of support at linux and there are still problems running it on thinkpads. I have a T30 and even with 2.6 kernels, it's better to use APM than ACPI... even then, it doesn't work consistantly. Also, I use my lappy for audio/midi tracking and recording live gigs for various local bands. Rosegarden isn't Cubase. Audacity isn't Soundforge. Yes, linux has come a long way (especially in support of audio interfaces). Yes, I'm excited to see where it is going. That doesn't mean it's a viable solution to me now.
When 2k-tan has finally outlived her usefulness, which may not be for quite some time, I'll be deciding between linux and osx/x86. I hate to say it but unless Steinberg ports Cubase to linux, I'll probably be sucking Steve's co...er... choosing Mac.

Test bench
Not quite related, but my bench is hand made, stands 43" high in a "L" shape, conforming to the layout of my single-car garage. I've got a kegerator in the corner, with the tap mounted 2' from my main PC's keyboard. Also have a 29" tv mounted bar-style in the corner, angled down with an Xbox and PS2 and a 5-disk DVD player attached.
My "console" consists o my main PC, an WinXP machine on an Intel 540 with Raptors in Raid-0 and 2Gb Ramm in the center, with a 2Ghz Dell laptop on the left and a 2.4 Ghz Fed Core server on the right, all controlled via Synergy.
The "L" is 6' by 34" on one leg and 8' by 34" on the other, along the wall. The wall portion is designed to fold down via gate hinges and gas shocks (not installed yet...it's heavy)in case I need to actually get a car in here.
My Fed Core tower has external, front-mounted IDE and Molex connectors, and it and the WinXP pc use LCD's to save on desk space. I've got a 2'6" rack box with nothin in it at the momment but plan to add sound gear and maybe a blade server of some sort when the fundage comes. :)
The workbench surface itself is white laminated 5/8's inch particle board stock which works great for optical mice. I wired in a 12-outlet power strip along the short wall and another 2-outlet box in the middle of the long wall.
It's quite cozy in here and I love having all this surface to work on whether standing or sitting on my barstools. And currently, I have Pyramid Heffe on tap which doesn't hurt either. Here's a link for a pic:

Hope you all like. I know it's kinda off-topic, but I do have a full range of miniature/microminiature solder repair equipment availible to repair PCB's and such. :) Lemme know what ya all think, and if you're even in the SD area, look me up and I'll pour ya a pint. -

Re:Not trolling, just having fun
"The containers your detergents are in" is redundant, and shampoo was originally purely organic (Technically, isn't oil organic as well?...). I use organic shampoo already, not because I'm a hippie, but because I have long hair (See this: Picture). Long hair requires special treatment for men (If they want to do it right, that is). Food additives don't apply for me because I eat locally from purists' crops.
Thing is, the reason oil is still a big factor in our lives is because it's such a big business and so apparently fucking abundant that it's not priority to devise oil-independent alternative methods for making things we, as capitalistic materialistic humans, need.
Don't mean to spit on your ideas or anything, but I live in an attic loft with only my clothes (Out of a suitcase, no less), and my computer. I rob my neighbour's unsecured internet connection (He's a geek though, so it makes no sense. His wireless setup is named "All your 802.11 are belong to us", instantly denoting geek. He has no auth key though... the idiot. Free I-net for me.) Oil isn't much of a big deal for me. -
USAF Museum
Yeah, that's one of my "dream stops" that I want to make some day. I got to one of them this spring when on the way back from the South Dakota, black hills area, we detoured through the Omaha Nebraska area and spent a few hours at the SAC museum, halfway between Lincoln and Omaha. The size of the Convair/Consolidated B-36 is impressive, but I still want to get to the AF Museum and see that Valkerie. Here's a pan-o-rama of the main hanger at Omaha http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b29/p51d007/Han

Re:Probably won't work
Same with Photobucket free. As of about 6 months ago you could upload any file and it wouldn't be resampled unless it exceeded 250kB. I never actually did a binary comparison to test if it was exactly the same though.
Obviously you could get bigger photo sizes with paid accounts, and obviously it created a lot of resampled (downsized) products too. You could always get the full size one though.

photobucket.com
Photobucket.com uses php, and a little perl (but not for serving pages). Objectify your php so that things remain very maintainable, write your perl so that someone can read it. What it comes down to is the fact that bad code can be written in any language, and good code can be written in any language.
Oh, yes Large-Scale. -

As you can probably make out, it's a .pif file, from a virus that came out many days before October 30, 2003 as you can see the date in the corner. If you do a google for paris.pif I'm sure you'll find what day that particular virus was added to the McAfee definitions. I knew at the time, but nearly 2 years later that detail isn't at the front of my brain. -
Re:AYB Vs. Valantine's Day...
Funnily enough, this was seen outside Georgia Tech's College of Computing building on Valentine's day.
The irony of it? GTech (and particularly the CS department) hardly has any women at all to begin with. I'm convinced that most of the women they show in the stats are either professors or janitors. :-/
Makes you wonder who wrote that though...spooky! -

I'm impressed by the number of posts from people on here decrying tattoos and piercings as some sort of legitimate metric for competency. I'm a Sr. unix admin team lead who has worked at NASA and some pretty amazing institutions with some famous collegues, and I've noticed that the opposite effect is true: the only people who will really judge me for having ink are the incompetent blahbedy-blah managers. Thats the way its always been in my 10 years of experience as a computer scientist.
I keep reading posts frm people who simply say "you need to look professional" but theres no real reason why you have to look like whatever "professional" means at the moment. You just "have" to. I'm guessing you are the people that grab onto corporate jargon that the VP spews out like a starving coyote and can't wait to deliver the news of someone else's project being completed as your own.
My experience has been that when some a@@hat comes in wearing a suit and tie I already know that he's gonna spout about 'synergy' and 'mindshare' and give the blank stare when asked about 'binary trees' and 'cfengine'.
I love my tattoos because they really filter out the brown-nosing corporate whore talk-a-thons like you people.

Re: Remember all the hype... Emotion Engine?
So I've been looking for any of the hype- Penny Arcade mentioned a tech demo video that was shown and complained that they certainly never saw anything like that coming out of their playstations. I have not been able to find that video
It was the Ballroom scene from FF8. They showed it rendered "in real time".
I can't find the video.. it was never released online, only shown at E3.
Here are some photos someone took of that scene though:

He forgot to make it animal style, so he could get the whole thing cooked with mustard, then have pickles, more spread, and grilled onions all over it. I can't imagine not ordering it animal style, unless you also wanted it to be protein style or flying dutchman style, either of which would be too messy of a combo. -
