It really isn't that difficult to determine Disney's businesses. A quick look at their annual report under Key Businesses will given you a workable list if you are interesting in boycotting.

For movies, you have: Walt Disney Studios, Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone, Walt Disney Feature Animation, DisneyToon Studios, Miramax and the various Buena Vista studios. You can then check in Rotten Tomatoes when you are looking up the critic reviews you can also take a look at the Release Company to see if it is one of the names above. Example: The Village

As you get into other businesses, it gets more difficult. They include: ABC, Lifetime, A&E, ESPN, and local TV stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and San Francisco - among others. However, Disney is just one of the big five - so that gives you four other media companies to choose from - specifically, Time Warner, Viacom, News Corporation and Bertelsmann.

Frankly, I don't think the other four would disagree with Disney on this point.

And I don't bother watching movies with very low scores either, but I prefer to use rottentomatoes over imdb as the ratings meter; more accurate in my experience. Anything less than 50% gets ignored.

I have a handy URL search too. I just type "rot moviename" to search rottentomatoes...

According to the interview, he also has the rights to Fear Factor, Dungeon Siege and his "friend" has the rights to Soul Calibur. And he also has interest in Hitman, Silent Hill and The Suferring. What is wrong with the publishers? They are selling these rights to a man not capable of delivering a good movie.

What about Star Craft, Red Alert , Max Payne or Monkey Island for example? Uwe - Starcraft is very good, but is a big shot!. Red Alert...no, Max Payne is great! but I prefer Hitman!...Monkey Island...no.
At least three saved franchises: Starcraft, Red Alert and Max Payne.

As far as I see, everyone seems to like it over the first movie! I hope I can catch the flick this Monday with friends. I didn't love the first one, but it was enjoyable. I hope the second one is a lot better. :)

Also, the TomatoMeter is currently at 96 compared 89 for #1. This is always a very good indicator for me. I'm sure this movie will be great.

Apparently, there's a clause in the contract that will make Universal Pictures pay additional royalties if the movie doesn't get at least 70% on Rotten Tomatoes.

This is (quite reasonably) to protect the good name of the Spy Hunter brand.

A poster on the Rotten Tomatoes Matrix Reloaded forum hooked up with a couple of Japanese fans who happened to be 2channelers. The RT thread was mentioned on a 2ch movie board, and look what happened:

First thing I think of is the tomatometer rating for games. Fresh games are rated at least an 8 (instead of 6 for movies), otherwise most games would be recommended.

Indeed. Several times. There is at least metacritic, GameRankings and Rotten Tomatoes. The first and last of those also have other media reviews.

Numbers don't always suck though.

There are plenty of sites that average review scores. Others have already pointed out GameTab and Rotten Tomatoes. There is also GameStats, Gaming Chart and Game Rankings

Game Rankings in particular is good because they include a "difference" listing for each site to compare how far their reviews are from the average of each game.

For example, you can see that the average PSX Nation review is 8.5% higher than the average.

You're absolutely right. Rotten Tomatoes recognizes the problem that you raise, explicitly, when they determine if a game got enough 'good' reviews to be rated "Fresh".

I have my start page set to a local HTML file with about 20 of my most-used search forms. I can search dictionaries, translate text and web pages, look up movies at Rotten Tomatoes, and look up maps, all from a local HTML file. This saves quite a bit of typing. Of course, there are plenty of bookmarks, too.

It's a local HTML file, but I also have a copy of it on the web (linked above) for when I'm using someone else's machine.
