Here is an explanation of the "brown noise" that makes you crap your pants when you hear it.

Interesting stuff - has some background technical info on how an episode is put together and what systems they use to do it all. -
Reality Check...
The law which enables the President to "spy" has been on the books since 1978. The scope of the law was expanded in 1994 and 1998. The EFF has a great writeup about the law which can be found here There are certain requirements that must be met before a "warrant" is issued by a judge. In reality it is really not a warrant because the person investigated is unaware of the pseudo-warrant. Please read the EFF writeup so you have a better understanding of your rights. Blaming this law on the current administration is unproductive and misguided. The law was passed under a democrat administration (Carter) and expaned under another democrat administration (Clinton) We can bitch and moan about the current administration and their use of the law. This doesn't change the fact that the it is on the books. I have already contacted my representatives regarding this law. I am glad the NYTs shed light on this because I would not have known about it otherwise. Disclaimer: I don't support the Democrats or the Republicans. I am a Libertarian. You don't have to vote for a giant douche or turd sandwich you know.

Why is this news?
It's been a predictable tendency. There are enough people I personally know which have or are studying Chinese (I believe the study is refered as as 'Chinelogy') in order to be a step ahead when China or in more general the East will rise to be the greater economical power and the dominating influence in the world.
Face it, the US has been slipping away for quite some time now and is losing popularity at a troubling rate.
If I'm not mistaken South Park adressed the issue of the ever growing influence of the East quite some time back in episode 301 (aired on 1999-11-03) where the southpark kids get obsessed by Japanese Merch. Which turns out to be a brainwashing tool.

I recently saw a GPS locator made for kids to wear...

Paris is soooo much like me...Wait...
Because... Paris "cumslut" Hilton has a PSP, -I- want one too ?
Where's the link in that ?The only thing I -want- now I know she has a PSP, is for it to get hacked.

Re:9/11?!
What would Bin Laden do to a Canadian police station? Rape the sheep? Canadian Mountee
-
I would have done it differently...
if Paris Hilton had to be mentioned, then I would have rather done it this way
Or maybe made Mr. Slave the spokesperson instead...
But that's just me. -
Re:Uh...
But as an offering on a premium cable channel, with extreme loads of advertising and a presentation as if it's the next coming of the Simpson's or whatever, it falls short of expectations.
Yeah, but isn't Comedy Central a channel on "basic" cable in most markets these days?
Also, aren't they the incredibly crappy channel which cancelled "Mystery Science Theater 3000" to make room for more Saturday Night Live reruns from the dreaded "middle years"?
And aren't they the channel which put another cheap-assed indie Internet comic on the air, with tremendous success?
I don't have cable myself, nor have I seen an entire episode of ATHF, but I would not be in the least bit surprised to learn that it's one of Comedy Central's most popular flagship programs.
Cable syndication is really only a tiny step up from flash cartoons on the Internet, after all. I would be willing to bet that Homestar Runner gets almost as many weekly viewers as the Lifetime network does. -

And somehow Starbucks always manages to hire the cutest girls. I think part of their job description is to be flirty. I've probably ordered complicated drinks just so I have an excuse to stay there longer and hope that they'll pay more attention to me.
This is a widely-used practice... and is certainly the case at the one near my work. -
What about the AWESOM-O 4000

Re:Let's fighting love
Actually, IIRC, it was "The Butters Show" episode (12/12/01) from Season 5 when they did the whole OJ/Ramseys thing. Butters found his dad at a gay mans' bath house, and his Mom was trying to kill him because he knew. Then, I believe she blamed a Puerto Rican for it.

Re:The question is...At least South Park still manages to be fresh and timely after 8 years
On The Simpsons DVD commentary, someone mentions that after The Simpsons success, the other networks tried prime-time cartoons, which pretty much all flopped. The commentator mentions reading an interview with the writer for one of those others, and he was a terrific writer, but there was only one--one guy was suppose to write a whole season's worth of quality episodes. On The Simpsons, they had several terrific writers, and most writers worked mainly on one episode per season. So it came as no surprise to them that these other shows weren't anywhere as good as The Simpsons and soon died.
What's interesting about South Park is that it is mostly written by two people. This, more than anything, shows just how good Parker and Stone are.
There's some interesting material on the making of South Park at South Park Studios. Aside from their fairly good-sized rendering farm (driven by homegrown Perl scripts), they seem pretty small in all departments compared to other prime-time cartoons, present and past. I think this probably shows that it is not just Parker and Stone that are terrifically talented.

InterestingKill a motorcyclist, get 100 days in the county jail, and get work release after 30 days.
Record a movie, get up to a year in prison.
This sends AWESOM-O into CPU overload, as it does not compute.

electronics interacting?
electronics interacting with each other might be cool, just as long as they dont make trapper keepers interact with electronics

Re:Pig-human chimeras contain cell surprise...But there is a good reason for that experiment, because they first tried elephant stem cells with the pig embryos, but the nuclei would never fuse. Then they tried with human stem cells.
In hindsight it was obvious that the first experiment failed. I mean haven't you ever heard that song by Loverboy?
