Re:If you want to prove that, try "quotes"
Take a look at Damore's twitter account: https://twitter.com/jamesadamo...
"Canâ(TM)t we all just agree that women having more sexual capital than men has its positives and negatives?"
"Feminist women are more masculine than average, which may explain why most women don't identify as feminists"
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DN...
I imagine that these tweets will be shows in court as evidence of the intent of his memo.
Hella thing when you express forbidden opinions.
Regardless, I stand by the concept that you can say whatever you like, and people are free to react however they like.
Whatever else the guy is, he is monumentally stupid for expressing a forbidden opinion inside the company. I'd fire him as well, for doing something so damn stupid.
We have to accept that times are what the times are, and that even if the concept of men's and women's minds and thought processes being identical are right up there with Lysenkoism, it is how things are, and there isn't much point in fighting that sort of power. It will rise or fall on it's own merits.

Re:Driving nails?
The article says that a huge benefit of wood is that it can be taken down/disassembled much more easily and with less energy than concrete. I believe that's what the OP was referring to when he said "Maybe this wave of construction is only expected to stand for 30yrs?". I don't think he meant to say that wood wasn't durable.
Personally, I still think that wood is a luxury. It may not be a luxury in Canada, but in France, wood is still a lot more difficult to buy than cement and rebar. So I still expect cement and rebar to be the default for low-income housing and lower budget office buildings.
And even in the picture of the article in question, or in a better picture of the same building I found here, cement and rebar are still being used for the lower floor and the stairs/elevators shafts, not just the foundation, so obviously the promoters of this pre-fab wood idea still think that cement has a place.
And my second concern would be the chemicals used in those slabs of cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels.
Wood construction has been propelled forward by the growing availability of cross-laminated timber (CLT). These enormous, prefabricated panels, made from several layers of wood glued perpendicular to one another and measuring up to 20 inches in thickness, are strong enough to hold up bigger buildings and arrive on site ready to be assembled like Jenga pieces. It’s also this heft that helps make CLT fire-resistant: the outside layers char slowly, protecting the wood inside from burning.
For instance, what is the glue used in those panels? And is it only the glue and the wood that make those structures fire-resistant? Or is it something else?
Prefabricated slabs of CLT, which form the framework of most timber buildings, are usually shipped in from Austria. “CLT manufacturing isn’t sufficiently developed in France,” says Viguier. “I’d like this project to help revive wood consumption and trigger the growth of factories in the region.”
Usually shipped from Austria? Are they sure about that? Aren't those slabs of CLTs going to come from China instead where they usually don't have good records of what chemicals are used in their manufacturing processes? That being said, those CLT slabs are as likely to be coming from Ukraine or Finland also.

Re:Amazon won't be a monopoly
You may find this to be interesting. Amazon can't put them all out of business, but they can certainly make them all feel some pain.
Granted Wal-Mart and Target don't truly target the same people, and Amazon will be it's own niche, but it can certainly reduce those companies' profitability considerably.

Re:SJWs gone wild
I seriously doubt Vagg would give a rat's ass for Tourette's Syndrome. He is not trying to defend some minority here. He posted a link to that article because he does not like the code of conduct he is so often criticized for violating.
Apparently there is a whole set of incidents involving Vagg that people are upset about. There is nothing in the article itself that is offensive. It is about him dismissing the code of conduct people call him on.
Citing that tweet as a code of conduct violation makes the SJW look bad. Throwing the label "Men's Rights Activist" at that article is a red herring.
40% of the people agreed with the SJWs
It is so much more complicated than that. That 40% is just 4 people (there are only 10 in the TSC). It boils down to 6 vs 4 votes in favor of keeping one of their own in place, which makes it look like favoritism. The question is how would that vote go if they were voting on a random developer that is not member of the TSC.
I agree with you the post makes it look like a SJW gone wild. But the actual situation is more complicated.

Re:I hope they can sue IBM / jail someone
Well, our police-chief who aren't a police, prefer dialogue and socialism over catching criminals, before being the chief of the police he was the leader of the Migration office and the "Insurance" office (not the last resort welfare stuff but the welfare stuff you collect when you're sick or have a kid or to help pay for your apartment and such.)
.. they aren't the most trusted and popular of the government ran places and now he's totally managed to screw the police up too.But he's still on the job. Because Social-democrats.
The previous "looks like the best prime-minister candidate" of the social-democrats Ygeman had complete garbage history too. I don't remember it now but it included not paying for where he lived(?), lots of late payments but other shit too. Don't remember if it was that his educational background was junk or his jobs or whatever, it was basically all junk anyway.
Our current prime-minister is a social-democrat and he's a compulsive liar and his background is the metal union and
.. the social-democrats / their youth organisation. The one they had as leader before that was so shitty he had to go, the one before that is both shitty but also have had lots of unpaid parking tickets, bought private stuff on the account she should use for her job but a lot of other shit too. But I'm too lazy to watch a YouTube video of it all and I don't remember it all. But they are all complete garbage. And those are still supposed to be the elite of the social-democrats I guess..Picture of the police-chief: https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_...

Re:Intentionally misleading fundraising
Wikipedia is legally required to maintain cash reserves some degree beyond their yearly expenses. When those expenses increase, they need to carry bigger cash reserves.
Yes, and if you spend x% more each year, then naturally you must ask for x% more money next year, just to have a big enough reserve again. And then you can spend more again, and again, ad nauseam.
:) That's exactly what's been happening. WMF asks for and spends about 30 times as much money now as they did ten years ago. If WMF follows that logic for another ten years, it will require 30 times as much money in 2027 as it does this year, just to keep the reserve high enough. That will be $2.4 billion. And after another ten years, $72 billion. I think something will give before then. :)WMF also runs Wikinews, which carries news articles in dozens of languages. It runs Wikipedia in many languages all over the world. Every time it adds a new language, there's a new regional user base. If each language Wikipedia grows as above, then you have cubic growth until the rate of new Wikipedia languages slows.
Wikinews is practically dead. (English Wikinews, at any rate; I don't think it's any different in the other languages.) So are many of the other Wikipedia language versions. A slide shown at Wikimania 2014 said that of 284 Wikipedia language versions, 12 were "dead" (locked), 53 were "zombies" (open, no editors), and 94 were "struggling" (open, less than 5 editors). 125 were described as "in good or excellent health" (that number included every Wikipedia language version that had 6 or more editors).
In my opinion, a Wikipedia language version that has 6 volunteers working on it could not be described as in "good health".
But Commons content has grown significantly, and it does have large files. As far as I recall, it doesn't account for very many pageviews though, compared to Wikipedia. -
Re:Sophistry
This is a typical tactic used by you people.
"Where's the issue? It's NOT Happening!"
Well it's not happening now because there are laws, regulations, conventions, customs, that keep men from using women's facilities. (This is also a deception by you people...it's about ALL women's facilities, not just bathrooms).
If a guy goes into a woman's facility now, they will be chased out, the police might be called, and the guy possibly arrested for disorderly conduct or something.
Wit the laws that the Left is trying to pass, this could not happen. Further, they write the laws so poorly that ANY guy could simply declare he identifies as a woman and walk right in. There is no "Trans Card" or anything else to prevent that. Get that? Any Guy, Any Time, merely needs to declare, and it's an all access pass.
So the bottom line is you would be opening up a very target rich environment for perverts who could enter a women's facility, unquestioned, and if anyone is uncomfortable or even suspicious, they could not do anything absent some evidence like a camera, or inappropriate behavior.
You've got it completely, entirely, 100% backwards. The "Left" is trying to maintain the current status quo in which transgender people use the bathroom of the gender they appear as, and there aren't any required laws. The Right is trying to force big, burly bearded men to go into the women's bathroom.
Specifically, as you note, right now if someone who looks like a guy goes into the women's room, they will be chased out, police called, etc. But with this law, someone who is transgender and, say, looks like Buck Angel (SFW, but most searches are not) will be forced to use the women's room. So, if this law passes, burly bearded men will be walking into the women's bathroom, and if anyone is uncomfortable or even suspicious, they cannot do anything because the law requires them to be there. And that means that there may be other big, burly bearded men walking in behind them who actually are men, and you're not going to be able to find who's whom, unless you have cops stationed at every bathroom checking genitals. Do you want cops to check your wife or daughter's genitals before they can go to the bathroom? I sure don't, but that's what this law seems to require.
Basically, even if you agree with the purpose of the law, the law not only doesn't help that purpose, it achieves the exact opposite.

Re:Irony
Whenever someone start talking about Politifact, I just point to their contradiction of themselves. For them, the facts depend on if it's someone they like saying them or not. On the sites which rate fact-checking site bias, Politifact is on the slightly left-wing tilt, which is better that some out there, but to pretend their always neutral is easily shown to be false.
Also, what stories, or what angle on stories a news site chooses to cover tends to contain large amounts of bias. So you see CNN presenting how the Obama Administration wiretapping a Republican campaign staffer is evidence he was doing something wrong, while for the same story, Fox News is covering it as confirmation the Obama Administration wiretapped the campaign, but didn't actually find anything.

Re:Responsibilities of a publicly traded company
Take, for example, the radical feminist Clementine Ford. She has repeatedly engaged in blatant anti-male harassment and is known to then cry wolf when a man responds with anti-female harassment and had a man fired from his job for his comment. Yet, for some reason, Clementine Ford's account is still miraculously active. No matter what Trump said he did or didn't grab, this woman should be off Twitter permanently by that same policy.
That's seriously the best you could come up with? Some woman making a few dick-themed insults in what looks like larger back-and-forth conversations?
This is what actual harassment looks like.
For one he's targeting visible characteristics (weight, attractiveness, and skin colour) of his targets. Clementine Ford's dick jokes are just non-specific insults since no-one can actually see the target's dick.
Second Milo was the instigator going after people who did nothing to deserve it. There's no context for your examples but they look like excerpts from conversations.
Finally Milo wasn't banned just for posting a few offensive things, he was banned because he knew it would trigger his troll army to join in on the fun by escalating the harassment. You posted no evidence of troll armies from Clementine Ford.

Responsibilities of a publicly traded company
It occurs to me that, while a company shouldn't necessarily advocate for open harassment of its users, it needs to apply the policy equally if it is to be taken seriously.
This is a pattern that repeats over and over. As it is obvious that Twitter is engaging in selective enforcement, they are not only slowly alienating a substantial portion of their user base for the minority of vocal SJWs, they are threatening their own safe harbor provisions for anything else that goes on Twitter such as terrorist communication or other criminal activity. That translates to fewer users and significant financial risk for operating as they currently do.
The real question is: why are the shareholders not demanding Dorsey's resignation for these policies? Mentioning Trump is a complete non-sequitur and clickbait for Salon's liberal slant. More importantly, it indicates that they are defocused from the real goal of shareholder returns and preserving shareholder value. The tail can't wag the dog any more, and it has to belong to the same animal in any case. Either Twitter curates content consistently or they get out of that business and respond only to complaints of criminal and terrorist activity; otherwise, this half-way house will fall on itself. -

Re:Self-brainwashing versus censorship?
Fake news? Which self-brainwashing news outlets have you been listening to? The ones that tell you not to listen to the other ones? LOL. Let that sink in for a moment.
You know that actor that got up and lectured Pence? He's a misogynist. Right there in his own words: calling women "ho's". He has also made very rapey comments about taking advantage of drunk women. Where have you been getting your news? If your news hasn't been mentioning these very pertinent FACTS, then you might be listening to fake news. And if your fake news has been telling you to listen to them exclusively and not listen to alternatives, then you've really got a problem with self-brainwashing.

33k emails/12 months =~ 650k emails/8 days?
Bleh, if it's something that boring, we've got a dozen examples of using the Clinton Global Initiative / Clinton Foundation money in bogus ways. Here you go. That's only equivalent. Go to
/r/wikileaks and start reading the real bad stuff for yourself, don't let CNN think for you (they're lying). Don't get me wrong, though, I don't support anyone doing that. But that's like the least bad stuff we've found in the Podesta & FBI dumps. I hope those deals all get stopped and the lawsuits are won. Oh, and you remember how Colin Powell supported Clinton? Turns out there's a document between him & her describing how to break the email rules. For anyone asking: feel free to throw the book at him for anything you can prove in a court of law. I'd happily rule against any of the shady business deals against any of them were I a juror. But there's just so much even worse stuff going on. Remember that gunless "assassin"? It was a bird dogging attempt (agian). And an old lady who lives with him died back in 2002, but she's still voting.
Make sure you look into the sources on that. See, we have her address (same as his). We know when she died. We have voting records showing that she's been voting all this time. And we have him mentioned in the Stratfor dumps. Yet another bird dogging attempt and all the links are out there for anyone who wants to look them up. It's easy to see one news item you don't agree with and dump it, but be sure you look at the election records, look up the address, look up the death records.
As for the rate of going through these, we've found that they love to use irrelevant subjects like "congratulations" to send some of the crazy attachments. So while I can totally believe they'd filter out "irrelevant" emails, they'd be led around by the nose if they did so.
