Re:A few random thoughts
And if they couldn't get a job somewhere else, wouldn't you say that $50/month is better than $0/month? I'm no economist, but common sense seems to show that the latter is what they'd be getting if they didn't have this sweatshop job.
That's the point, they can get away with sweatshops because jobs are scarce. The reason labor laws exist in most countries that took part in the industrial revolution is that if labor is scarce the employers tend to exploit that, treating employees as cheap, disposable machines. This practice should not be allowed to continue. Now of course those who answer "capitalist" when asked for their religion will disagree and say we should let the market correct that but any person who does not see the market as some omnipotent and infallible entity would agree that we should stop it NOW because we know it's bad rather than continue until it's no longer profitable. There are higher priorities than profit (if not you're insane) and as humans we should not willfully make other humans suffer for our own gain. -
Bruce Willis ensues
Wasn't this the meteor that was suppost to be here last week?

Oh wait, that be the end of Weebl and Bob [1]. Damn! OK, OK. I guess web animation actually has a purpose after all.

Re:poor Googleheads
Pull your head out of our posterior.
Speak for yourself, asshat.
this means the Googleheads will be *shopping* at whatever local Santa Clara malls exist; and they'll be paying sales tax, too
So it's the responsibility of the employees (and the other country residents) to make up for Google not paying taxes? That's crap.
This is a win for Google. This is a win for NASA. This doesn't cost Santa Clara a dime, because NASA pays for all the local services.
And who do you think pays for NASA, dumbass?
Why the fuck should google pay for *any* of the local politics?
Because the rest of us fucking have to, that's why. -

Re:nonsense
Because its the law
There's a law on journalists, yes, but leaking trade secrets is not journalism, any more than taking pictures with a telephoto lense of Britney Spears in her bathroom, and publishing them in the National Enquirer, is "journalism".

Re:i'm one of the first....
The multimedia adverts that covered up the actual content of the page were the main reason I uninstalled Flash. The lack of a volume control for Flash meant sudden bursts of loud intrusive music and other sounds; something I could do without. Another reason was the excessive CPU usage for simple HTML pages (at least they would be simple HTML if they didn't contain Flash adverts). The attitude that users aren't important enough to be allowed control over the Flash, not to resize, not to change the volume, not even to mute, means I'll not install it. Not even for Weebl's Stuff.

Re:Same with me no flash
Weebl DOES have some quality stuff, the Badger Badger Badger animation is just his most popular work.
Or how about Homestar Runner? -

Re:I'm more worried about my home network.
I do use AFP between Macs
Then you will, of course, see AFP "noise" on your network, although I wouldn't call it "noise" if you're intentionally using it. You might get broadcast or multicast announcements of service from the machines acting as servers.
I think the thing that keeps announcing itself as Netbios is something to do with Rendezvous or AFP.
Unlikely - Rendezvous^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^HBonjour is, among other things, a mechanism for announcing services, so Bonjour-related stuff wouldn't need to use NetBIOS to announce itself. Similarly, AFP uses either AppleTalk or Bonjour mechanisms to announce itself.
What are the details of the NetBIOS announcement packets?

I do advise agaist searching for the vid though. Its one of those songs that gets trapped in your brain and remains there for the day.

Re:Mushroom mushroomAnd it made absolutely no sense, jumping bears and mushrooms?
Those are badgers, not bears. It only makes sense (if you can call it "sense") with the sound. It's a kind of parody of heavy beat, tightly looped techno, with a little bit of veiled drug humor hidden in it. (And that much explaination may have already ruined the joke...)
It's also a more recent instance of the tendency of the Internet culture to produce "All Your Base" and "Hampster Dance" style micro-fads. The Weebls Stuff website has a bunch of these Flash shorts on it; my personal favorites are "scampi" and "magical trevor."

The only OS for POS is DOS
I'v used loads of different POS systems, both as a user and a Admin.
The best and most stable are DOS based. Running on pure DOS 6.2 or under Win98/2K..., the best and most stable was a old Dos program running under Win98 on Tills and 2K on back office, on a Novell Ver 3 (on top of Dos 6.22) on a PII servering 40+ users...
Windows versions are normally just FrontEnds for the Dos program and run a hell of a lot slower and are crap to use....
Flash on a POS the system will have tobe P4 with 1GB of Ram and ATI9800pro's......
Leave flash where is belongs..., Cartoons that are fucked up....
