This reminds me of all the protesters who kept saying the Kevin Smith's movie Dogma was was disgusting and a slap in the face to the Catholic church. When protesters were asked if they'd seen it, they said "No".
This game hasn't even been released yet. Why we wait to see what the game is actually about first.
Even though a self-described "boring" game, it still ended up on most websites' top 10 lists, and was chosen game of the year by others. That guy has the highest of standards. Don't believe me? Read the reviews from Metacritic.
To summarize the article, it looks like the Xbox 360 and PS3 will actually be as powerful as the Nintendo Revolution is promised to be (and not 30 times more "powerful" like Sony and MS claimed at E3).
You can buy a photo quality printer for $50, and print your own all day. If you need to copy from hardcopy, get a photo scanner for $50. Problem solved.
Um yes this is 2005 not 1975. The definition of "presentable for the business environment" has changed. If you want me to look like a 1975 "professional", I'll immediately make my own assumptions and assume your company still uses punch cards and mainframes, and that your software engineering dept thinks OOP is black magic, and then I'll move on to a company who knows this is 2005...and times are changing.
'India faces a massive shortage of workers with European language skills'
Judging on the speech of the person who answered the last time I called tech support they don't seem be too strict about the "European language skills" part.
I think it's great the Nintendo is GOING TO DO, what the Phantom has been promising to do for what, like, three years now...bring internet downloadable console games to the masses. So now that Nintendo is FINALLY going online, I'm sure Sony and MS wish they wouldn't, because can they compete with a library of 100's of classic games that we all grew up with?
With sports games like football or basketball, you can always sit and play for 15 minutes, and actually finish something...the game. You don't need to save and come back later. If you don't like how long the game is, change it to 2 minute quarters, and finish the game in about 10 minutes. I like that I can sit down, finish a game, save my season progress, and then get on with my life, all with about 30 minutes of gaming time.
Although not comfirmed, it's certainly possible to get N64 games for free also. Mario 64 as well as the Zelda games from that generation would make the Revolution worth owning just for those alone. When you throw in the SNES and NES games and it's a no brainer. It's great that Nintendo is moving forward with the most novel, and brilliant use of an online service we've seen yet, considering they wouldn't touch online with the last generation.
I'm sure the comments on this story will be incredibly insightful.
Does my ventromedial area detect a bit of sarcasm there? No really, tell me. I can't tell.
From the article...The MPAA slammed BitTorrent last week for accelerating the spread of a pirated copy of Revenge of the Sith -- a leaked studio workprint of the third Star Wars prequel debuted online even as fans queued up for Thursday's theatrical release. The organization had no immediate comment on the upcoming search service Friday.
I don't think anybody feels sorry for the MPAA. The fact that they had the balls to use "Sith" as an example was both moronic and ironic. I mean, Sith went on to have the 2nd most profitable opening EVER. How do they have the balls to keep making these claims that bittorrent is hurting them?
I think it became clear to Nintendo that one of the big reasons why the PS2 sold so much was because of the backwards compatibility. It looks like Nintendo took a look at their catalog of games, and realized that they have a back catalog that puts Sony to shame. Then they realized that people would pay a small fee to play those older games, wow another source of revenue. It's about time Nintendo flexed some of that software catalog muscle. Hopefully the Revolution will be back-back-back-backwards compatible.
Revolution will be "two-to-three times more powerful than GameCube," according to Nintendo, which also acknowledges that the next-generation race isn't solely about new technologies. By contrast, Microsoft's Xbox 360 console is 13-15 times more powerful than the first, according to the publisher. And Sony says it's PlayStation 3 is roughly 35 times more powerful than PlayStation 2.
What does it all mean? Absolutely nothing. Statements like this show how it's all marketing b.s. that can't be believed. When we see how the technology is used in an actual game, then it will matter. In the meantime, I'm about four-to-five times more excited for this generations console launch then I was last time.
I remember a few weeks ago, the premiere episode of Family Guy leaked and everybody I work with was talking about it. I downloaded it at work (not using bittorrent, it was actually posted for download on a website), and the whole office stood around watching it. Needless to say, The Family Guy owes a lot of its popularity to how accessible it's been on the internet.
I'll never forget the first time I beat Mike Tyson. My friend and I jumped up and down and hugged each other. Then immediately swore never to tell anyone that we, well, just hugged each other.
Apparently EA is showing what happens when you try to undercut them at retail (as in Sega lowering the price of their games to $20).
In other news EA has signed an exclusive licensing deal with Italy, for the exclusive rights to the likeness of short, fat, mustached, Italian plumbers.
Markey's statement was true when it was "The more daylight we have, the less candles we burn". Actually now, since most people have AC and ceiling fans, when we're home from work and it's still light outside, we crank the AC and turn on the ceiling fans, which we would not need if it was dark and cooler outside. Because of daylight saving time, it has been theorized that we actually use MORE electricity. Check the wikipedia page on daylight saving time to get a really comprehensive article on the hows and whys and the theories about saving energy.
Actually the news is that Micheal Bay is in talks to direct. That is a brand new revelation. There has not been a director attached until now. For some reason I remember hearing something about Bryan Singer (X-Men, Superman), but that was probably just rumors. This however might be the first mention of a TF movie on Slashdot, and for many people, Slashdot is the ONLY stuff that matters. This is the kind of project Bay was born to direct - with his way over the top frantic action style (such as Bad Boys II bridge car chase scene).
and a 4 year old broken ibook with a bad battery, bad screen, and no ac adapter goes for up to $55 on ebay. They got one hell of a deal.

I don't know about you, but I don't see too many 13 year olds who are walking into a store with $49.99 in their pockets...but what do I know.
They said a drummers days are numbered back in the 80's. 20 years later that turned out to be one really really big number of days.
To summarize the article, it looks like the Xbox 360 and PS3 will actually be as powerful as the Nintendo Revolution is promised to be (and not 30 times more "powerful" like Sony and MS claimed at E3).
I'm more interested in knowing who the hell is going to volunteer for this procedure...
Someone very very old. Maybe someone dying...just a guess.

Here is a better comparison, taken from CNN.com:

I knew I should have patented those tabs when I had the chance.

Next, I bet, you're gonna tell me that Adobe bought Macromedia. Now THAT would be crazy!
Oh wait. You have to admit, if this was an April fools joke, nobody would even believe it.
