FF7/Star Fox crossover
McCloud? What does the Star Fox team have to do with any of this?

Re:Co-op?
Disclaimer: all of the following linked pictures showcase absolutely no nudity; however, you probably wouldn't want to have someone looking over your shoulder when you open them regardless.
Since the Zero Suit. Compare to this. (As an aside, it is damn hard to find a SFW picture of a woman in a catsuit... probably more about my search parameters than anything.
Hell, even in the NES era - the first friggin' game! - they had her running around in a one piece.

Little people playing Wii
I think it is pretty clear, given how little people actually play their Wii's
Little People and Wii? You don't mean how Lucas from Brawl is a dead ringer for Eddie, do you?

When the head becomes ludicrous in size
An interesting book by Carl Sagan points out that the size of babies' heads seems to be bigger than women's pelvises were designed to handle
Which makes me wonder what the (in-universe) parents of this fellow went through at birth. Or these characters. Or these characters.

Re:Windows for cloud computing
Nintendo has had this for years now.

Re:It's not "Speed Racer!"
I wish it was a movie about F-Zero. Captain Falcon exudes manliness like none other. Just take a look. I mean, just look at the power and utter virility of his Falcon Punch. I want to see that in a movie, not some pansy kid.

Re:Just get the online right
By the way, have you ever had an experience in which your opponent was disconnected, and the match never came to fruition? Like when you started with four players, but ended up with only one?
I don't like that feeling, so I've tried to counter it.
If you get cut off, your character will get taken over by the CPU without your opponents even knowing--it pinch hits for you!
And sure, while it might be a neat feature of an online system, I don't like the fact that it doesn't tell you at all if your opponent drops out and you're actually playing an AI. Never really knowing that you are even playing a real person definitely diminishes the impact of a decent online system

Re:Just get the online right
Hmm... I guess you missed "With Anyone" mode. It's free of buddy codes and rankings, for random play.

Re:Tutorial
Please tell me you've seen the videos of Snake talking about various Smash Bros characters. I especially love his lude remarks about Samus's Zero Suit, or his reactions to Wario's farts. I'm just thrilled to see that Kojima has allowed Sakuria to turn his hard-boiled character into one big joke:

Re:cube
You can also use the Classic Controller, Gamecube controller, Wiimote by itself, Wiimote+Nunchuck.
The "wiimote only" impression is wrong. -
Misleading
I think this thread is somewhat unintentionally misleading. What is presented here is not THE control scheme for Smash Brothers. It is one of four options available to players.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/various01.html
So, you can use the Wii Remote. Or the Remote+Nunchuck. Or the Classic controller. Or the Gamecube controller. Some are obviously more ideal than others. The one that is being focused on here, the Wii Remote by itself, is obviously the most limited of the four to design for. I suspect that few people will play with just this, but I think it is neat that they have built in the option. -

This was already announced on http://www.smashbros.com/ a few days ago.

Re:Probably his final smash
Probably? At the end of this gameplay demo, Sonic is shown obtaining a Smash Ball, which initiates his Super Sonic transformation. Although it explains it in the video, I'll just add that Super Sonic flies around smacking people during the final smash.

Re:Sonic - not a rumor this time!
Rumor mill? Psh. I'll bet my wii that its gonna be a final smash.

Success?From the article:
The delay "in no way affects the success of the Wii," said George Harrison, Nintendo's Senior VP of Marketing and Corporate Communication.
It doesn't affect the success of the Wii as a paperweight, no. But I was actually hoping to play some fucking games on mine. Also, I can't help but notice that the old release date announcement has been quietly taken off the official Smash Bros site.

Re:Why "The Pokemon Trainer"
Because that's the character's name. Yes, it does look like Ash, but they're not saying that it is.

So you haven't watched the intro to the other two games have you?
They're statues, figures really... animated by, well god knows what but lets say by Master Hand (end boss/pointing device), to fight for it's amusement, or something, it's all pretty foggy thus the relevance of announcing a fleshed out story mode. -

No it's just another Smash Bros. with online play, more destructible stages, new items, and new attacks bolted on.

Metroid Prime 3Here's the original text of the summary before Zonk changed it:
For Metroid fans, it does indeed look like Samus will have to wait until 2007.
Oh noes! Not 2007! I don't think I can wait that long! Wait, 2007?
Oh! Zonk changed it...For Metroid fans, it does indeed look like Samus will have to wait until 2008.
Oh noes! Not 2008! That's even longer!
Wait, the article he links to says...Thus far, Nintendo hasn't announced an official release date for Metroid Prime 3, so we're thinking that it's going to slip into 2007, particularly because the company doesn't want to release too many franchise games during the Wii's 2006 launch.
Poor confused Zonk. Business Week republished a GameDaily preview of Metroid Prime 3 from 2006. so the date stamp on Business week says 2007, even thought the real date stamp is November 07, 2006. (In late 2006, the MP3 date was pushed to March of 2007 before being pushed again in Feburary.) As amusing as it is, that wasn't a very nice prank by BW.
The real release dates can be found over here. Here are a few of interest:- July 30 - Mario Strikers Charged Nintendo
- Aug. 20 - Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
- September - Battalion Wars 2
Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl are both listed as a "To Be Determined" date in 2007. The expectation is that they will be fall or holiday releases. For those of you who haven't seen it yet, the official Super Smash Bros. website is up here:

(Yes, there was a Slashdot story on that.) - July 30 - Mario Strikers Charged Nintendo

Re:One Name Missing...
It's weird that Nobuo Uematsu's name is off the list, since he did in fact contribute to the game; it was announced over a year ago that he composed the game's title track which can be heard in the original E3 2006 trailer.
-
There were implications of this a year ago..The first title that was announced to have online content for the wii was Super Smash Bros Brawl.
From the page:There was a reason Smash Bros. was announced at the meeting.
This information is backed up here. While it does not specifically state that SSBB would be the first wifi enabled wii title, it does say that it WILL be wifi enabled, and implies that it should be a release title.. Since it appears to have been pushed back by a few months, it is likely that we will, in fact, have to wait until 2007 for wifi enabled titles. i know the logic is shaky, but the implication is there. Of course, this isn't taking into account the possible changes to the launch lineup, and any wifi demo games that may ship with the console.
That was because when it was asked what product Nintendo would want to use to help it unveil its Wi-Fi Network, the first title
on the list in both America and Japan was Smash Bros. So it was first decided to talk about Smash Bros. as an example of a Wi-Fi
title, resulting in the game being announced before the development structure was finalized.
If i were nintendo, i'd certainly be shipping something small with the console, just to give people something to do while they waited for the big name titles, and for 'value added' credit. -
Re:I know!Zero you could clone Zero Suit Samus.
He couldn't be a clone in the Dr. Mario -> Mario sense, because Zero Suit Samus is not a character.
From http://www.smashbros.com/en/characters/chara3/inde x.html
This isn't a pure character addition. Rather, under certain conditions, Samus will "remove" her Power Suit. Whoa! That's a woman under there!

Re:HmmmI was just trying to point out that at least one popular Nintendo sequel will require a controller shell. I doubt special addons will be required for the most popular PS3 games.
I do agree that the Wii will be cheaper than the opposition. It will most likely be the first, and possibly only, next gen system I buy.

Favorite Character Submission ContestFrom the Wikipedia article on it:
Japanese fans are currently being asked to submit their desired characters and themes to Nintendo's website, the most popular of which will be incorporated into the game. It is currently unknown if this will eventually be opened for overseas fans as well.
The site where you can vote (Japanese only I guess) and the IGN article on it.
The XBox 360 had a mild welcome in Japan ... Is Nintendo playing favorites in order to win a solid monopoly on the Japanese market?
Maybe I'm just jealous. I want to vote for Bub & Bob (Bubble Bobble) as a counter pair to fight those damned Ice Climbers! -
Pretty funny
I've never played a Metal Gear game before, but I'm about to play one soon.

Re:Super Smash Brothers Meleeeeé!
Couldn't agree more! Super Smash Brothers is the perfect game for a casual session with your girlfriend. It's easy to pick up and within five minutes having fun and there's bound to be a character that she likes.
http://www.smashbros.com/
Plus you can get a copy free with a Gamecube for $99, not a bad deal for something that can easily provide hours (days!) of entertainment (procrastination!). -

Re:The rest of the Final Fantasies up to 6
What you mean like Viewtiful Joe? (without the flash intro still a flash website though). This is seriously one of the most entertaining games I've ever played. Or maybe more like Super Smash Bros?

What's next, all our lovable Nintendo characters in a fighter?
I really hope that was sarcasm.

Re:What Next?
Super Mario Quake - Not that it would make a great game, but blowing up that fat little plumber would set me up for the day
:-)There's already Target Quake (now apparently also for Q3A) and probably more 2d platformer mods...
My sister has Super Smash Bros. on her N64, and when I get a GameCube, I'll get Super Smash Bros Melee as the first game! The Bushiest One (or any other Nintendo character) kicks, punches, shoots, slices, and blows Mario up. Great joy. =) (Mario was not a fun character to begin with, and when they added the speech in Mario64, that was the last drop. =)

'mirrors' points right to www.kernel.org!
That's because Kernel.org is the Linux kernel mirror system.
Now, for a cute link, try here. Or here. (Ness looks so precious.) Or here.

DC vs. PS2
And with the PS2 being released soon - holding Sega shares would properly not be a wise idea.
PlayStation 2 is a fighting game platform. (Coincidentally, fighting is one of the four arcade genres, the others being racing, shooting at a movie, and pinball.) It doesn't have enough texture RAM to hold detailed textures for more than about four characters, and this is coincidentally the number of players in some fighting games (trying to show up Nintendo's Smash Bros.?).
Dreamcast, OTOH, seems more balanced in its technical capabilities.
