Pokey, is that you? (Pokey confirms to me that he does use mspaint)

pokey at the jewelry store
There. It's my favorite Pokey strip. It's also the only Pokey strip I like. I don't really get the love for Pokey... I don't get the love for Zippy the Pinhead either.
I really do like this one. The increasing aburdity of the situation unfolds with IMHO perfect comic timing.

Re:I've seen this happen.
Websites I consider valuable I go over with a little program called SiteSucker, which will spider the site so I can keep it on my own media. For instance, back when Pokey the Penguin went about 3 full years without a single update, I thought to myself what a shame it would be if all this material were lost so I made my own archive and kept it on my HD.
HD space is cheap, and I think it's well worth it to keep some to keep my favorite sites from disappearing. -
Re:Pokey
YES! POKEY was the first and still is the best dadaist web comic. There have been many too many imitators. POKEY MUST BE RECOGNIZED!!!

Re:without even bothering to read the article...
You know, here in germany we have this term called "saure-gurken-zeit" (roughly translates as "pickled cucumbers period"), meaning this stretch during the summer where there are NO news at all, and the papers start publishing cooking recipes on their frontpages for lack of anything better to print...
I think it would probably be the Silly Season. I prefer "pickled cucumbers" myself... And the best online comic is, as everyone knows, the mighty Pokey :) -

INDEED!! YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU MIGHT FIND AT A HOT SPOT IN HTE^H^H^H THE ARCTIC CIRCLE!!!
Hello,
We tried contacting you awhile ago about your low interest morta(ge rate.
You have qualified for the lowest rate in years...
You could get over $380,000 for as little as $500 a month!
Ba(d credit? Doesn't matter, low rates are fixed no matter what! -
HOORAY!!!Pokey and his pals can now enjoy fun and learning with wireless UNTERNET!!!!
(Authentic Pokey all-caps type omitted because of the lame lameness filter. Apologies for any lack of fun happy this may have caused.)

Lameness filter encountered. Post aborted!

Even weirder: Pokey The Penguin. Be sure to check out the archives (the one currently on the main page isn't as bizarre as some of the earlier ones). And hey, it's a penguin so you are automatically required to love it, being a Slashdot reader and all.

Re:my entry!
Reminds me of Pokey the Penguin.

Re:Wee:)
I know I shouldn't admit this, but I think that Geico commercial is about the funniest thing I've ever seen. Both because the request is so stupid, and because the Geico ad executive talks in that awkward deadpan voice.
I also love the Starburst commercial where the lumberjacks are eating trees, because it reminds me of a Pokey Comic. Yes, off topic.

My favorites
My favorite web comics would probably have to be jerkcity, , and Leisure Town.
Anyone else really enjoy these? Most people either just think these are too offensive or just too far out there, but I think they're great. -
A far better studyYou will like this:
INFLUENCE OF GENETIC POLYMORPHISM ON SUBJECTS ABILITY TO INTERPRET POKEY THE PENGUIN
Yes, everybody loves Pokey The Penguin!!!
I had to include these lines because of slashdot's stupid lameness filter, which let through ascii pictures of the goatse guy but won't let me paste the title of a paper.
-
Everybody knows...
That the best online strips are Jerkcity, Leisure Town, and God's gift to man: Pokey The Penguin.
Those three have done some very interesting and unique things with the media other than just being print comics in cyberspace. -
This doesn't affect me
Just wanted to get this link in here: Pokey the Penguin. Thanks for reading this.

Pokey The Penguin already lives in the Arctic Circle with his delicious Arctic Circle Candy. Tux is an Italian.

Re:[OT]
Ahh, Ok. I've read more Pokey The Penguin than I have watched the A-Team. At the end of of a commic called "San Quinton Holds the Key" Pokey says "I love it when a plan comes together" though there is obvously no plan.
-
Re:Take the Slashdot Pledge!
Well, how about Pokey The Penguin Then? They're after my Arctic Circle Candy!!

Re:he thought the trailers made it look good?Just think about it for a second and I'm sure that you will agree.
Crap, is this a subversive intellectual joke that I'm not getting?
Anyway, your claim (assuming the entire post wasn't a joke flying over my radar), is undermined by people NOT finding the same humor funny. There seems to be a subversive, abnormal humor (say abnormal instead of intelligent to avoid loaded value judgments clouding the water) that "regular" people don't get. The best example I know of would be Pokey the Penguin. Normal people look at it and wonder why I'm reading something that looks like it was drawn by a two year old. To fans it's the funniest thing ever made, and all other humor exists in imitation of Pokey the Penguin.
There is certainly some humor that has an abnormal quality, a quality which we dare not say is intelligent but is likely to correllate with intelligence, and a quality which is at least as subversive as all abnormality must be.
I also note that it is possible to see humor in a joke that the originator did not intend--in fact, I've seen humor where the originator intended to have humor in the work he/she would not be aware of! (Sometimes I'm the originator...)
Replace "smarter" in your post with "abnormal" and "dumb" with "normal". Flip the bits of the negations in your second paragraph. (i.e. There IS [obviously] a subversive abnormality. Abnormal people and dumb people do not both find the same slapstick humor funny. It does make me more abnormal than somebody else if I see further into a normal joke then they do.)
Then just think about it for a second and I'm sure that you will agree.

Re:Any printed webcomic author
Dated, dated... the only web comic with any staying-power is Pokey the Penguin. Pokey truly captures the essence of the human experience: universal, infinite, transcendant.
I'm just waiting for a print Pokey compilation. Then my life will be complete.
